Spirit of the Moon


Chapter 1 : Lost Souls

Looking out the window on a stormy night, Darien
couldn't hold back his tears. They came rolling down
his cheeks and there was nothing he could do about it.
The pain was too great, he had lost her. Her, his true
love, the only one he would ever love. Now, she is
gone. He could remember it like it was yesterday...

- "Hi Serena !!" yelled Darien on the phone from work.

- "Hi Darien !! yelled Serena, happy to hear his
voice. I can't wait to see you tonight."

- "Me either, said Darien, thinking of the surprise he
had for her. Serena, listen, I've started a new projet
with some guys from work and it has to be finish for
tomorrow. I might be a little bit late picking you up
tonight."

- "That's okay, said Serena, brushing her hair. Just
give me a call when you will be finish."

- "Great !! said Darien. I can't wait to see you. I
love you..."

- "I love you too, said Serena. Bye..."

And that's was the last time he spoked to her. He knew
that something was wrong when she wasn't at home when
he called her. Something told his that the negaverse
was near by. Then, this feeling came over him, it felt
like a part of him was gone. He didn't understand. He
never knew it would be her...


            **************************

Siting at the temple, the girls were all there,
including Luna and Artemis. Amy had fall asleep, tired
from crying. Mina and Lita were talking softly, like
she didn't want the others to hear. Artemis was siting
with Mina while Raye and Luna were by the fire. Crying
in silence, Raye couldn't believe that she was gone.
This can't be real ! But she saw it, all of it. She
was there and she couldn't do anything about it. She
just watched in horror while her friend was dying. She
remembers it so well...

Meditating in front of the fire, Raye suddenly felt a
strange presence. Opening her eyes, she saw some kind
of monster in the fire, more like a giant reptile.
"The negaverse, thought Raye, picking up her
communicator. I have to called the others !!"

- "Serena, Lita, Mina, Amy, yelled Raye, we have a big
problem."

- "I know, started Amy. I just picked it up on my
computer. It's some kind of reptile."

- "What are we wating for !! yelled Serena. Let's go
!"

- "Right, said Amy. We will meat at the park."

Closing her communicator, she took out her pen and
yelled : "Mars Star Power", transforming into
Sailormars.

Rushing out the door, Mars ran straight to the park.
On the way, she ran into Venus and Artemis. Entering
the park, Mercury and Sailormoon were already fighting
the creature. They were hit with his giant tale and it
was now heading out of the park. Running towards
Mercury and Sailormoon, Mars helped them up.

- "Wow... said Sailormoon, shaking her head, that
thing is strong !!"

- "Yes, said Mercury, scanning the creature with her
visor, I can't find any weakness in him."

- "This is bad !" said Venus.

- "Come on, yelled Mars, let's catch him before he
hurts someone. Look, here comes Jupiter and Luna,
let's go !!"

Running after the creature, the Scouts were now all
there and reading to fight the monster. So Mars's
thought...

- "Look, yelled Sailormoon, he's in that old building
at the corner of the street."

- "Come on" yelled Mars.

Closing in on the building, the Scouts were attack by
huge fire balls. Ducking out of the was, they couldn't
believe what they had just seen.

- "Reptiles don't breathe fire ?" asked Sailormoon,
confuse.

- "Of course they don't Meatball head !! yelled Mars
at Sailormoon.

- "Then, was is this ?" asked Jupiter.

- "I don't know.... look out !!!" yelled Mercury,
feeling the warmth of the fire closing on them.

- "Take cover you guys !!! screamed Sailormoon, have
trouble getting out of the way of the fire.

"Shiny Aqua Illusion"
"Venus Love Chain Encircle"

The attacks hit the creature but it didn't seem to
have any effect on him. Turning around, the creature
was heading for Sailormoon.

- "Sailormoon !!! yelled Mars, don't go into the
building !!"

But it was too late. Sailormoon ran into the building
and the monster threw a huge blast of fire at it. The
whole thing collapsed and a huge explosion followed.
Running towards the burning building, Mars got caught
in a blast of fire and it through her right across the
street. Getting up, she started running back to the
building but the girls caught her and held her back.

- "Let go of me !! yelled Mars, crying. We have to
help her !!"

- "It's too late, cried Luna, looking down. She's
gone."

- "Nooooooo.... cried out Mars, falling on her knees.
It can't be..."

Kneeling down with her, the Scouts looked back on the
fire, watching it take away their best friend. A few
moments later, sirens were heard but it was too late,
there was nothing left... nothing. So concern about
their friend, they didn't even notice that the monster
had vanish.

She was gone, thought Raye, holding Luna in her arms.
She could remember the funeral, it was so beautiful.
Darien had arranged beautiful red roses around her.
Since no body was found, Serena's parents had a plate
done and it was placed under a big tree. On the plate,
it said : To are beloved Princess, we shall miss you.
God is with you now, rest in peace.

 We had to tell her parents that Serena was Sailormoon
and the Moon Princess and they were so shock, hearing
the news. But, at the end, her parents and her brother
were very proud of her. She fought in was she believed
in and her parents knew that. In a way, her mother
always knew that she was special and she was now proud
knowing that she was.

After the funeral, they all went to Serena's home to
remember her. Raye remembers seeing Darien siting on a
chair, holding a ring in is hand, crying in silence.
She didn't ask him what was the ring for, she knew.
Serena had told her that she thought that Darien was
going to asked her to be his wife. She was 19 years
old and she had waited for this moment for a long
time. Now, it will never come...

- "Raye, said Amy, waking her up from her daydream,
can I talk to you for a moment ?"

- "Sure Amy, said Raye, turning herself around to see
her, what's up ?"

- "Something is strange about Serena's death, started
Amy. The body, there was no body."

- "But the police told us that the fire was so strong
that it burned the body", said Raye, wiping out her
tears.

- "Amy, said Mina, joining the conversation with Lita,
what's wrong ?"

- "That fire was strong !! cried out Amy, but it
wasn't strong enough to burn the bones. A body had to
be there!!"

- "Amy, whispered Mina, holding her in her arms,
Serena is dead, we can't bring her back."

- "I'm sure that the fire was not strong enough !!"
cried Amy on Mina's shoulder.

- "Are you really sure ?" asked Raye.

- "Well... I think so, started Amy. I don't know
anymore..."

Walking around in the room for a moment, Raye suddenly
turned toward Amy and look at her.

- "Well don't tell us then if you aren't sure !!"
yelled Raye, furious.

- "Raye... started Lita. What's..."

- "Don't do that !! yelled Raye, getting up. She was
my best friend !!! If she is dead than don't give me
hope that she isn't if you aren't sure !!!"

On that, Raye walked out of the room then outside.
Confused, Amy started crying even more.

- "I'm sorry Raye..." she whispered, holding Mina even
tighter.

- "It's not your fault, said Mina, trying to calm her
down. You know Raye, she's just sad about Serena. We
all are."

Lita joined in and they all held each other by the
fire, watching it burn.

Siting outside on his balcony, Darien watched the
stars in silent. He had gotten a few calls from
worried friends but he couldn't talk to anyone. He
didn't want to. How could he live now with her gone.
Why didn't he finish on time at work ? He could have
helped her. All the guilt in the world was filling his
head. He would never see her anymore, ever. Watching
the stars, he just sat there waiting for the sun to
come up. He couldn't sleep, he didn't want to see her
in his dreams. The pain was too much for him to
handle...

- "Oh, Serena.... why did you have to leave me...
Why?"
