Savior asked aloud as he turned to face the three Generals, Jedite, Malachite, and Zoycite; and the two aliens: Alan and Anne. The group of villains were gathered in the church that Neflite had used while searching for the Silver Crystal. Each was as far from Savior as possible, staring at him with a look of hatred mixed with fear. "What do you mean?" Alan asked, expressing the confusion they all felt. "The Sailor Scouts must be favored by fate and luck," Savior said. "How else could they have defeated you each and every time?" "So, how does that help us?" Malachite demanded. "Well, what would happen if the Sailor Scouts were forced to fight the Sailor Scouts?" Savior asked, waving his hand. There was a flash of energy and light outside the church, followed by a large crack. The five villains all turned outside to stare out of the church in the direction of the park. In the distance loomed a large, black mirror. ******** “Ahh! I can’t believe you!” Angie grabbed a book off a near by table and flung it at Frank, who easily dodged it. “It was an accident,” Frank said, knowing it was useless. Angie and Frank were in the house they shared with Aaron and Krista. Angie was the Princess of the Sun and Krista’s sister. Krista, though, was the Princess of Vega through her marriage to Prince Aaron of Vega. Frank, on the other hand, had no family connection to any other member of the household. His parents were Sir Thomas of Earth, the last Lord of the Sun, and Lady Milinda of Venus, the only female Knight of the Sun. Both of Frank’s parents were dead; Lady Milinda died during the attack on the Moon Kingdom over a thousand years ago, while Sir Thomas was killed in a battle with the resurrected generals of Beryl. After Sir Thomas’s death, Frank had stepped up and, with the help of Aaron, created a new breed of knights, the Star Knights. The Star Knights were composed of six people: Frank, Aaron, Greg, Ken, Chad, and Andrew. Each had been invested with the powers of the destroyed Sun Ring. The Star Knights had the same job as the Knights of the Sun before them: to protect the royal court from harm at all costs. Frank had taken over the leader position of the Knights since their formation, assigning each Knight to the protection of a different Scout: Andrew was assigned to Mina, Ken to Lita, Greg to Amy, Chad to Raye, and Aaron to Krista. He had left Serena in the capable hands of Darien, while he took the newest of the Scouts, Angie. In the month that had passed since Sir Thomas’s death, Aaron, Krista, Angie, and Frank had ,moved in together. When Frank was asked about his relationship to the others of the household, he would answer as close to the truth as possible: Aaron had been a friend of the family and when Frank's parents had died, Aaron had taken him in. Everything was going along rather smoothly since then. Frank attended school with Angie and Serena and was in their classes, which made it easier for him to watch over them. He began to fall into a routine of going to school and watching Serena and Angie, following Angie and some guy for most of the afternoon, hearing the reports from the other Knights, doing his school work, training with Aaron for a while, then going to bed. Sometimes though, protecting Angie interfered with her social life. When this happened, Angie usually became cold and distant. But tonight, she was livid. "What happened?" Aaron asked. Frank blinked. he hadn't realized that either Krista and Aaron were in the room. Before he could reply though, Angie said, "What happen? What happen?!" Her voice rose with every word. "He ruined my date!" Frank sighed. "It was an accident," he repeated. "An accident!" Angie shouted. "You followed us!" Aaron raised a hand to quiet Angie. "Let him tell his version," he ordered. Angie lapsed into silence as Frank said, "After Angie and her date left, I waited a minute, then followed them to The Max. It went well, I don't think Angie even knew I was there. When they finished eating, they started walking. I followed them again, this time to the park. They went up onto the bridge and just stood there. I looked away for a moment and when I looked back, they were gone. I ran up onto the bridge without thinking." Frank paused as his face went red. "I ran right into them and knocked him right off the bridge." Aaron suppressed a smile, while Krista covered her mouth with her hand as Frank continued, "They had just shifted position and when I came up, I slammed into them. I don't know how I managed to knock just him off, but..." His voice trailed off as he shrugged. Aaron looked at Angie and said, "Well, it seems like a reasonable explanation to me." "I still think you did it on purpose," Angie said, glaring at Frank. Krista and Aaron glanced at each other, knowing that the argument was going to go downhill fast. "Why would I do that on purpose?" Frank demanded. "I want nothing to do with your multitude of boyfriends." "Multitude?" Angie shrieked, outraged. "Yes, multitude," Frank said, stepping closer to Angie. "Every day, you've got a new boyfriend. I swear you've dated every guy in that school once and are on your second time around." Angie's eyes widen in rage. "You bastard," she hissed. Taking a step forward, Angie slapped Frank across the face, then stormed from the room. Frank stood still for a few moments after Angie had left the room, then calmly walked out of the house, closing the front door silently behind him. "What do we do now?" Aaron asked. "Nothing," Krista said, sitting down, "let them work it out for themselves." "You are being calm about this," Aaron said, taking a seat next to her. "I know my sister," Krista said, "She in love with him." Aaron laughed. "And he's in love with her, I have no doubt," he said. "Do you think they'll ever have what we have?" Krista asked, looking at Aaron. "I hope so," he answered as he kissed her. ******** Angie slammed the door to her room and threw herself on her bed. "Why is he so mean to me?" she moaned. "Because he's in love with you," a small voice said. Angie looked up to see a small, yellow cat sitting on the headboard of her bed. On the cat's forehead was a small symbol of the sun. "What do you mean, Lunamis?" Angie asked, addressing the cat. Lunamis hopped off the headboard and onto the bed. "He loves you," the cat said. "How much clearer would you like me to be?" "But that doesn't answer my question," Angie said, pushing herself into a sitting position. "If he loves me, he shouldn't be mean to me." "frank is an interesting person," Lunamis said. "He feels that if he shows his feelings for you, he would be compromising his ability to protect you. So, he keeps you away by making you think he's a jerk." "But..." Angie started. She thought about it. "Are you sure?" "Absolutely," Lunamis purred. Angie smiled. "Cool," she said, as she fell back on her pillow. Lunamis sighed and looked out the window of Angie's room. "Sailor Sunshine," Lunamis said, his voice becoming commanding. Angie sat up and looked out the window to see a large, black mirror towering in the air just as her communicator beeped. ******** Frank looked up at the stars. "Why did I say that?" he wondered aloud, his voice soft, barely above a whisper. Frank looked down as he pulled out a small picture from his back pocket. It was a photo of himself and Angie at one of the school's dances. Angie had asked him to go after she found out that he, like her, had no one to go with. For that one night, Frank had forgotten he was suppose to be protecting Angie and had enjoyed himself with the other Scouts and Knights. There had been a photographer at the dance who had taken their picture, then given the picture to Frank. Frank realized something that night: he loved Angie. Frank sighed. He wanted to go back inside and apologize for what he had said. He wanted to tell her how he felt. He wanted to hold her... He shook his head, freeing himself of the thoughts. It was his job to protect her and emotions just got in the way. Granted, he knew that some of the other Knights were in love with the Scout they were assigned to protect, but while he didn't stop it, he did disapprove of it. How could you make the ultimate sacrifice if you didn't want to lose the person you were protecting? Frank took a deep breath and looked up into the sky. Suddenly, a brilliant light filled the sky, forcing Frank to look away. Frank looked back to see large, black mirror towering over the city just as his communicator beeped. Chapter 2 Andrew and Mina Ken and Lita "...And his face looked something like this," Mina said, as she made a strange face at Andrew. Andrew laughed and shook his head. "You're a very strange girl, Mina," he said, smiling. "Why thank you, Andrew," Mina said, smiling back. "I do try ever so hard." The pair laughed again. They were in the arcade where Andrew worked, drinking milkshakes. The two of them had gotten along beautifully since the start of Andrew assignment to protect her. He never interfered with her private life, for which Mina was grateful, but still made sure he was always within helping distance. Andrew glanced at his watch, then said, "I've got to go. I promised Rita I'd go to the movies with her tonight. I'll meet you at your house tomorrow morning, ok?" Mina nodded. "Have you told her yet?" she asked. Andrew silently looked away. "Andrew..." Mina said. "You haven't told her." "well, what am I supposed to say?" Andrew demanded. "'Well, honey you see I have these fantastic powers and I have lead a life of danger from now on. Oh, I'm also suppose to protect this girl here, but nothing going on between us.' That sounds lame to my ears." Now, it was Mina's turn to be silent. "I never thought about that way," she said finally. Andrew smiled again in attempt to lighten the changes. "Don't worry, I'll handle it somehow," he said. Leaning down, Andrew kissed Mina on the check and walked out of the arcade. Mina touched the spot where he had kissed her and stared after him. ******** Half an hour later, Andrew knocked on the door to Rita's apartment. A second, Rita opened the door. "You ready, hon?" Andrew asked. Instead of responding, Rita said, "Andrew, we need to talk." Puzzled, Andrew stepped into Rita's apartment and immediately saw the problem. Sitting on the couch was a man. "Rita," Andrew said, his usually light tone becoming hard, "who's this?" The man on the couch stood up, extended his hand to Andrew, and said, "The name's Daniel." Rita moved past Andrew to stand next to Daniel. "Daniel was just resently transferred to my lab," Rita said. "How long ago?" Andrew demanded. "About two months ago," Daniel said. "Andrew, try to understand," Rita said, her voice close to begging. "This isn't easy for me, but I want to break off our engagement." Having said this, Rita took off the engagement ring Andrew had given her and held it out to Andrew. Andrew stood there silently for a moment. Slowly, he reached forward and took the ring. "I... um... I'll let you alone," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "Good-bye, Rita." "Good-bye, Andrew," Rita said. Andrew turned and walked out of the apartment, without looking back. Once outside, Andrew walked down the crowded street until he was out of sight of the apartment building. Andrew turned and entered a small alleyway next to one of the buildings. Leaning against the building, Andrew reached into his pocket, pulled out the ring, and stared at it. Closing his fist around the ring, Andrew shut his eyes. A tear rolled down his face as his communicator beeped. ******** Mina walked out of the arcade a few minutes after Andrew and began walking in the opposite direction. Andrew's a great guy, she thought, I hope Rita knows how lucky she is to have him. As she walked, she reached up and touched her check again. He's so sweet, she thought. She smiled as she thought of all the fun they had together in the last month. It was like having a best friend with her all the time. And lately, she found herself doing less and less guy hunting and spending more and more time with Andrew. She stopped at a traffic light and smiled as the sound of Andrew's laugh came back to her. Suddenly, it hit her. She was in love with Andrew. By the Moon, she thought, now what do I do? ******** "Do you know who that reminds me of?" Lita asked, pointing at one of the guys in the crowd. Ken looked over at her and said, "Let me guess... your old boyfriend, right?" Lita smiled. "You know me way too well," she said, leaning closer. Ken smiled back. "Which is why I'm going out with you," he said as he leaned closer and kissed her. The pair were in at library, working on one of their school projects. They weren't getting much work done. After Frank had assigned Ken to protect Lita, the two had sat down and talked to one another. Ken had revealed that he had suspected that she was a Sailor Scout after their encounter with the lion from the Negaverse. Lita had been relieved that everything was out in the open between them. Before the end of the conversation, they were kissing. In the month that had passed, the two had been practicing their fighting techniques against one another and had become quite good. The couple parted and Lita said, "I love the time I get to spend alone with you." Ken smiled and said, "I won't exactly call this alone." He motioned his hand to the many people in the library. Lita laughed. "You know what I mean," she said. He laughed with her and moved forward to kiss her again when both of their communicators beeped. Chapter 3 Greg and Amy Chad and Raye "Greg, will pass me the..." Amy turned to find the pad of paper she was asking for being held out to her. She smiled and shook her head. "You're psychic powers sometimes get..." she started. "Annoying?" Greg asked, his eyes smiling. "Yes. Now will you..." "Stop that? No." The couple looked at each other then laughed. Amy picked up her pencil and began doing equations on the paper Greg had given her. Greg moved to look over her shoulder. "Our homework?" he asked. Amy nodded in response as she worked. "Wait," Greg said, "if you put that there, then it comes out like this." Greg picked up a second pencil and began making notes over Amy's shoulder. "Why not try it here?" "Because then you have to change all of this," Amy said, making changes with her pencil. "No you don't, you can just do it this way." Greg made a few more changes. The pair of brains continued to work until their communicators beeped. ******** "Chad!" Chad cringed as Raye's voice filled the temple grounds. "Hey, Gramps, do you think you teach me to go invisible?" he called to Raye's grandfather. "If I did, I would gone invisible a long time ago," Gramps answered. "Chad!" Raye shouted again. "You better get over there before she starts tearing down the temple," Gramps said. Chad began walking towards the source of the voice. Sometimes Raye was alright, but it was getting to the point where she anger with him all the time. And to make matters worse, Chad couldn't, nor wanted to, leave. And Raye knew it. Thanks to Frank assigning him to be Raye's protector, Chad couldn't leave without abandoning his duty. It also didn't help that over the time he had spent with Raye, he had fallen in love with her. Chad sighed. Sometimes he just couldn't win. ******** Raye was standing in the middle of the grounds, holding a shattered guitar. "Chad!" she shouted again. In the month that had passed since the formation of the Star Knights, Raye had become harder on Chad. She tried to justify it by saying he had to learn some stuff before he was really a Star Knight, but somehow... Raye shook her head. "Chad!" she yelled again. Before he had become Star Knight, Raye had been being to really like him, but for some reason her feelings became confused when he became a Star Knight. "Cha..." Raye started. "I'm right here," a voice said from behind her. Raye turned to find Chad standing behind her. She shallowed, then held up her shattered guitar and demanded, "What's this?" "Well, I would guess it was your guitar," Chad said. "I can see that," Raye snapped. "What I meant was what happened to it?" "How should I know?" Chad shot back. "It's not my turn to watch your stuff." "I left near your room," Raye said, "you must know what happened to it." Chad took a step forward and said, "I saw it when I got this morning, but I've been hard at work all morning." "What is that supposed to mean?" Raye demanded, taking a step forward. "It means I haven't seen you doing much work around here beside screaming," Chad answered, taking another step forward. "I do work around here," Raye shouted at him, moving forward. "I do more work than you do." "Is that so?" Chad demanded, moving another step closer. The two were only a few inches from each other. Raye raised her eyes to meet Chad's and said quietly, "That's so." For a moment, they stood there, staring into each other's eyes. Then their communicators went off. Chapter 4 Reflections of the Past Darien and Serena sat on one of the many parkbenches in the park. Serena was leaning against Darien, who had his arm around her. They were both just staring up at the stars. "It's a beautiful night," Serena said, dreamily. "Yes, it is," Darien said as he touched Serena's cheek. Serena turned her head slightly to look at Darien. She still couldn't believe after everything that had happened they were together at last. Everything was perfect. Serena opened her mouth to say something when a flash of light filled the sky. Darien and Serena leaped to their feet in the same instant as large black mirror materialized in front of them. "Call the Scouts and Knights," Darien said, "This has Negaverse written all over it." ******** "I don't understand," Anne said, "what is it you plan to do?" Savior looked at Anne as a parent would look at a child. "The mirror I created is the Dark Reflector. The only reflections that be seen in it are those of the Sailor Scouts and Tuxedo Mask. When one of them touches the Dark Reflector, the reflections will come to life," Savior explained, his voice slow and methodical. "What good does that do us?" Zoycite asked. "The images will be as evil as the real Scouts are good," Savior said answered, "and while they keep the Scouts busy, you will carry out my main plan." "And that would be?" Jedite prompted. "To destroy the Scouts before they become a problem," Savior answered, an evil smile coming to face. Turning away from the villains, Savior threw up his arms and shouted, "Powers of Darkness, I summon forth the Brothers Grim, Black Blade the warrior and Black Flare the mystic. Heed my summons, Beings of the Darkness, and come to me!" Black energy gathered in front of Savior, forming into the vague shape of two beings. ******** "What is it?" Raye asked. The rest of the Sailor Scouts and the Star Knights had gathered with Serena and Darien in front of the black mirror. For some strange reason, the mirror only reflected the images of the Scouts and Tuxedo Mask. Amy pushed a few buttons on her computer. "I'm not getting any readings from it," she said. "It's almost as if it wasn't there." Ken stepped forward and touched the surface of the mirror. "It feels solid," he said. "And there must be a reason that only Darien and the girls are reflected in the mirror." "Agreed," Frank said. Angie glanced at him. He so different from earlier tonight, his voice had become hard and commanding. Frank glanced her way for a second, then said, "Greg, Raye. Can your powers detect anything about the mirror?" Greg's closed his eyes in concentration. "Something, or someone, is interfering with my psychic abilities." Amy glanced at Greg in surprise as Raye said, "All I can sense is a great evil coming from it." Everyone was silent for a moment, then Frank said, "I think the girls should leave until we find out more about this mirror." Everyone turned to look at Frank in shock, then everyone started talking at once. "What?" "Are you insane?" "What gives you the right..." Frank held up his hand and the group fell silent. "I'm only suggesting that you let us take care o this," he said, "it could be extremely dangerous." "Listen, you two bit bozo," Lita said, taking a step forward, "we Scouts have been taking care of ourselves long before you came along." "Yeah!" Mina said. "We're not leaving!" Frank shook his head in defeat as the other Scouts voiced their agreement with Lita and Mina. Serena smiled slightly and said, "After all, how much harm could a mirror do?" With that, Serena leaned against the mirror. Light and energy exploded from the mirror, throwing the group to the ground. As Serena lifted her head from the ground, she found herself looking up at duplicates of Darien and the Scouts. ******** Savior smiled. "Now," he said softly, throwing out his hands. Black energy swirled in a circle in front of the villains, forming a large vortex. "Go, my minions," Savior shouted. "Malachite will act as your leader." Malachite nodded and lead the group into the swirling black vortex. ******** "Who are you?" Raye demanded as the Scouts and Knights came to their feet. "We are the Dark Scouts," the duplicate Serena replied. "Carbon copies of each of you, expect evil and a whole lot better." "Nothing's better than the original," Lita snapped. "Except for the improved versions," the other Lita shot back. "Enough," the duplicate Darien. "We have work to do." The duplicate Serena nodded and said, "Dark Crystal Power!" "Mars Dark Power!" "Jupiter Dark Power!" "Mercury Dark Power!" "Sunshine Dark Power!" "Venus Dark Power!" "Vega Dark Power!" In a blaze of energy, fire, and feathers, the duplicates transformed into darker versions of the Sailor Scouts and Tuxedo Mask. Serena produced her and said, "Moon..." Dark Venus stepped and shouted, "Venus Dark Beam Smash!" Black energy shot out of Dark Venus's hand and slammed into Serena, knocking her to the ground. "That was a taste of what is to come," Dark Moon said, "Good-bye, Sailor Scouts." With that, the Dark Scouts vanished. The Knights and Scouts rushed over to Serena. "Are you alright?" Darien asked as he gently pulled Serena to him. "I'm fine," she answered weakly, "but that hurt." "And it is only the beginning of your trouble," a voice said from above them. Everyone looked up to see a woman clothed in a dark green Sailor Scout uniform with long, green hair. In her right hand, she held a long, blue staff with a red orb in the center of a heart at the tip. "Who are you?" Chad demanded. "I am Sailor Pluto, guardian of time," the woman said as she floated down to the ground. "I am here to help you." "Help us?" Mina said. "With the Dark Scouts?" "The Dark Scouts are merely a diversion to keep from realizing what is really happening," Sailor Pluto said, waving her hand in front of the group. As they watched a small, round pool of purplish energy appeared in front of them. For a brief moment, Krista could swear she saw her whole life, from beginning to end. Then the images were gone replaced by a picture of the three generals, Alan, Anne, and two men that no one recognized. "What's going on?" Darien asked. "Those you see here are going into the past to when the Scouts were about five years old," Sailor Pluto said. "They mean to kill the Scouts in the past to eliminate their involvement in the future." "But the generals are dead!" Serena protested. "We saw them die!" "No, they merely tricked you into thinking that," Sailor Pluto said. "What should we do?" Raye asked, bringing everyone back to the problem at hand. "We can't very well go back into the past and stop those guys, leaving the Dark Scouts to run free here." "She's right," Greg said. "Our best bet is to divide our forces." Darien nodded. "The Knights should go back, they weren't involved in our pasts." "And that will leave you girls to deal with your duplicates," Andrew said, picking up on Darien's thinking. "I counted seven going back into the past," Ken said. "There's only six Knights." "You could ask Neflite if he wanted to help," Amy said. "Good idea," Serena said, excitedly. "I contact him." Pulling out her communicator, Serena pushed a quick series of buttons. After a moment, Neflite's face appeared on the communicator screen. "What's wrong?" he asked upon seeing her face. Quickly, Serena filled Neflite in on the situation. "Can you help us?" she asked after she had finished. "Of course," Neflite said. "I'll be right there." Neflite appeared a few minutes later, dressed as Maxwell Stadford. "Are you now prepared?" Sailor Pluto asked. Frank glanced at the other Knights and Neflite, then back at Sailor Pluto. "We're ready," he said. Sailor Pluto nodded and waved her hand as she said, "Pluto Time Portal." A large, swirling vortex of purplish energy appeared in front of the Knights. "Enter," Sailor Pluto commanded. Frank glanced back at the Scouts. "Take care yourselves, girls," he said, "we'll be back as fast as possible." The Scouts nodded as Frank lead the Knights into the vortex and vanished. Time and Time Again Frank looked around. He was in a place that he didn't recognize. Mist swirled around, showing him bits and pieces of the past and of futures that might be. Each scene was a scene of him, showing his death, his birth, his marriage... Suddenly, the mist vanished and Frank found himself standing on the edge of a cliff. Someone was calling to his name. Turning, Frank saw Greg standing a few yards away. "Frank!" Greg yelled, "There's nothing you can do!" Frank wanted to ask what was going on, but instead found himself saying, "No! I lost her once Greg. I'm not going to lose her again." With that, Frank, to his own surprise, dove off the cliff. His surprise only last a second as his gazed settled on the unconscious form of Sailor Sunshine falling towards a multitude of jagged rocks below. Frank's face became filled with determination as he said, "Sol Star Lord Transformation!" He felt power and energy surge through him as he was transformed into the silver armor of the Sun Lord. Centurion Sol frowned as he fell. Something was different about his armor. Glancing over his shoulder, Centurion Sol found a pair of silver, metallic wings had grown out of his armor. His frown turned to a slight smile as he looked back at Sailor Sunshine's falling form. He increased his descent with a few flaps of his wings and was next to Sailor Sunshine. Centurion Sol grabbed her and pulled her close to him, then began flapping his wings furiously, trying to break them of their free fall. Suddenly, Centurion Sol felt the energy being drained out of him. His armor flickered for a moment, then vanished completely, allowing both him and Sailor Sunshine to fall towards the rocks below. Frank clutched Sailor Sunshine to him, hoping to spare her any pain. He close his eyes and wished he had told her how he felt. He took little comfort in the fact they were going to die together. ******** Mist swirled around Aaron as he glanced about. He could see his past and future reflected in the mist. Reaching out, he touched one of the images and immediately found himself in the Great Hall. It was apparently one of the many parties Queen Serenity threw during the peak of Moon Kingdom. A noise from behind him caused Aaron to turn. His jaw dropped as he saw Adam, the Eye of the Heaven, and Sir Thomas, the last of the Sun Lords. Princess Krista was pulling Princess Angela away from the two brothers. Aaron began to move closer, wondering if he could stop what was going to happen before happened. "This doesn't concern you, brother," Adam said. "You have assaulted a subject of the Moon Kingdom, brother, that makes it my concern," Sir Thomas said, his voice calm and deadly. Aaron fought his way through the gathering throng of on-lookers as he made his way to the brothers. "Don't give me your crap!" Adam screamed. "All you've ever cared about is yourself!" "What...?" Sir Thomas said, confused. Aaron pushed aside another on-looker. He was almost there. "Everything you had should have been mine!" Adam screamed. "MINE!" "Adam, calm down. Everything's going to be alright," Sir Thomas said, trying to calm his brother. "Damn you," Adam said, raising his hands. "Heavenly Star..." Aaron shoved the last guest out his way and leaped Adam. Sir Thomas saw Aaron and started forward at the same instant. Adam's voice filled with panic as he finished, "...Blast!" A blast of energy shot out of Adam's hands... and blew off Sir Thomas's head. Aaron slammed into Adam, knocking him to the ground, then stumbled over to Sir Thomas. "This isn't what happened," he mumbled as people around him began screaming. Aaron turned to see Adam was standing and pointing at someone. Aaron stared, unable to move, as Adam said, "Heavenly Star Blast!" A beam of energy lanced out of his hand, this time at Princess Angela. Aaron started forward, but Princess Krista was faster, planting herself between the beam and her sister. With mounting horror, Aaron watched as the energy beam hit Princess Krista square in the chest, blasting her back into Princess Angela, and knocking them both into the wall. The two sisters slid down the wall, then lay there motionless. Aaron spun to face Adam, rage boiling in him. Raising his hand into the air, Aaron shouted, "Vega Star Activation!" He waited for the energy to engulf him, but nothing happened. Aaron stared, his horror at an all time high, as Adam smiled and said, "Heavenly Star Blast." ******** Ken emerged from the mist to find himself at Raye's temple, surrounded by the other Knights. At the entrance, Ken could see the Scout in their normal forms. "We beat the Dark Scouts," Serena said. "Good," Frank replied. "We took care of everything on our end." Ken frowned as the Scouts moved towards them. Something was wrong. He looked at Lita, who smiled at him and came closer. Ken smiled back and hugged her, something in the back of his mind still nagging him. Lita pulled away from him, keeping one hand on shoulder, and smiled again. Then she hit him in the face. Ken staggered back as the other Scouts attacked. He looked in time to see Lita finish her transformation... into Dark Jupiter. Ken dropped into a fighting stance and said, "Sirrus Star Activation!" Energy surrounded as he started to transform into Centurion Sirrus. Dark Jupiter smiled and said, "Jupiter Darkclap Zap!" Dark Jupiter threw a small ball of energy. Ken's eyes widen as the ball hit him in the middle of his transformation. ******** Greg sat with started and looked around wildly. The mist was gone and he seemed to be in the park. "You were just having a bad dream," a familiar voice said. Turning slightly, Greg figured out why everything looked so familiar. He was sitting on a bench next to Sailor Mercury with a large fountain behind them. It was the night he had become that monster. He remembered what happened that night, so he immediately fell into a determined script. "I was seeing my future," he said, looking deep into Sailor Mercury's eyes, "and it isn't pretty, Amy. Since I was a kid, I've had this power to predict things. I know all about you, Amy. I know what I will become. You have to promise me something. When I turn into a monster, promise me you'll destroy me." Sailor Mercury looked horrified as she said, "No!" Greg took a deep breath and said, "Promise me." Sailor Mercury shook her head and said, "The future is something you build yourself, Greg. If you let them win, you'll never control your own destiny." Greg almost laughed. "You think so?" he asked, trying to keep the mirth out of his voice. Sailor Mercury nodded. "You're right, Amy." Sailor Mercury shot him a look. "Sailor Mercury," he corrected. Suddenly, a voice from behind them said, "It's a shame I have to interrupt such a tender scene, but I require Boom-Boom's services." Sailor Mercury and Greg both leaped to their feet. Sailor Mercury moved protectively in front of Greg and said, "I'm not going to let you hurt him." Zoycite laughed. "You won't be so protective once you've seen his true self," she said, holding out her hand with the black crystal in it. "Zoi!" A beam of black light shot from the black crystal and engulfed Greg, ripping the rainbow crystal from him and transforming him into the Boom-Boom Kid. "Go to work, Boom-Boom," Zoycite ordered. Greg stood there for a moment as he had done the first time, then leaped over Sailor Mercury to attack Zoycite. The rainbow crystal dropped from Zoycite's hand as she backed away from him. "What?" Zoycite shouted, "How can his heart still be human?" Once more black light shot out of the crystal, engulfing Greg again. Instantly, he became larger and meaner. "Boom-Boom," Zoycite said, "it is the Sailor Scouts you must destroy." Greg turned and started towards Sailor Mercury. He only went a few feet when a voice said, "Hold it right there, buster." Turning, Greg found himself looking at Sailor Moon. "My name is Sailor Moon, champion of love and justice. I right wrongs and triumph over evils. And that means you. In the name of the moon, I will punish you." Sailor Moon pulled off her tiara and, before anyone could react, threw at Greg, saying, "Moon Tiara Magic." Greg stared at the spinning disc, unable to move. This didn't happen the first time, Greg thought, his mind filled with panic. Unable to do anything, Greg watched as the tiara came rocketing towards him. ******** Andrew stepped out of the swirling mist to find himself standing over the bodies of the Sailor Scouts and the Star Knights. In front of him stood a tall fair-skinned man with a black goatee and mustache, dressed in a red business suit. "Now, Centurion Polaris, you will join your companions," the man said, his voice cold and hard. Thousands of questions immediately came to Andrew's mind, but instead of asking them he found himself saying, "You can't win. There will be others." The man laughed. "I know," he said. "And I will deal with them as easily as I dealt with you." The man stepped away from Andrew and said, "To show I am a man who believes in fair play, I will allow you to transform into your alter ego." Andrew started at this. What's going on? he thought as he thrusted his hand into the air and said, "Polaris Star Knight Transformation." Yellow light burst from Andrew's hand, then ran down his arm and over the rest of his body. In an explosion of yellow light, Andrew transformed into Centurion Polaris. Part of him, the part that realized this was some sort of dream, noticed the armor was different in a way he could not see. The man in the red suit laughed again. "Impressive," he said, "but not impressive enough." With that, the man raised his hand and fired a beam of red energy at Centurion Polaris. The energy beam engulfed Centurion Polaris, paralyzing him. Centurion Polaris struggled in vain against the energy as a sword appeared in the man's hand. Smiling evilly, the man slowly approached Centurion Polaris, ready to strike the killing blow. ******** Chad glanced up, surprised to find he was in the Raye's temple. "What am I doing here?" he said, aloud. Something attracted his attention to the mediation room where Grandpa was. "Sir?" Chad said, moving towards the room. Suddenly, out of the room burst a large, ape like creature and instantly Chad knew where he was. Spinning around, he took off away from the creature and towards Raye's room. "Raye!" Chad shouted as he got near her room. Raye stepped out of her room a second later and Chad grabbed her pulling her along. "What's going on?" she demanded. "There's some creature chasing us," Chad told her, turning into one of the many temple rooms. He slammed the doors shut and moved Raye to the back room. "It won't find us here," he told her, knowing full well it would. The doors burst open as the creature leaped into the room. "Run!" Chad shouted. "I'll protect you." He ran forward and struck at the creature. The creature roared as claws extended from his hands. Chad's eyes widen as the creature slammed it's claws into his stomach. This isn't what happened, Chad thought as he sunk to the ground. ******** Neflite looked around at the mist as it moved slowly around him. "Hello?" he called, waiting for a reply that was not likely to come. "Hello, Neflite," a voice said from behind him. Neflite turned, somehow knowing that no harm would come to him here. As he watched, the mist parted to allow a man to step into view. The man was tall, well-built and handsome by human standards with a black goatee and mustache to match his thick, black hair. He wore a red business suit that made him look powerful. "You have me at a disadvantage, sir," Neflite said, wondering why the man seemed vaguely familiar. "You know my name." The man smiled. "You may call me what your fellow generals call me," he said. "Savior." "You know the generals?" Neflite asked, suspicion flooding into his mind. "Yes, I do," Savior answered. "Who do you think sent them into the past?" Neflite's eyes widen, then narrowed in anger. "What do you want from me?" he demanded. "Join me, Neflite," Savior said, "join my ranks and help me rid the world of the Sailor Scouts." Neflite blinked. "You just want to kill the Scouts?" he asked, confused. "Of course," Savior snapped. "What else is there?" "Ruling the world," Neflite said, sarcastically. "Why would you want to rule the world?" Savior asked. "Too much trouble." "Who are you?" Neflite demanded as his confusion increased. "I told you: I am Savior," Savior stated simply. "But beyond that," Neflite said, "Who are you?" Savior just smiled. "All in good time, my friend," he said. "Now will you join me?" "Never," Neflite said, his face becoming determined. "So be it, Neflite," Savior said, fading back into the mists, "you will join the Sailor Scouts and Star Knights in death." Chapter 6 Protecting the Innocent The Knights and Neflite fell from the portal, crashing to the ground. They lay on the ground, gasping for air as the experiences they had faded from the memories like a bad dream. After a moment, Frank pushed himself to his feet and looked around. "We're still in the park," he said. Greg stood up and glanced around, nodding. "That would make sense," he said. "Why?" Aaron asked, rubbing his neck as he stood. "It's rather simple. Sailor Pluto is the guardian of time," Greg explained. "Since time and space are unrelated, Sailor Pluto would only be able to send us to a different time, not a different place." "Did anyone get that?" Chad asked as he stood up. "I lost him after 'it's rather simple'," Ken said, joining the rest of the Knights. "Could you say that again?" Andrew asked, coming to his feet. "In English, this time." Greg sighed. "Alright. According to new theories being discussed in the scientific community, the dimension of time and the dimension of space are completely unrelated," Greg said. "Scientists now believe you don't have to travel through space to travel through time as it was once thought. Instead, a person can stay in a given space and still travel through time in either direction. By sending us to a different time, but the same space, Sailor Pluto has managed to prove this theory." "But if we're in the same place, how do we know we've travelled through time?" Chad asked. "The stars." The Knights turned to see Neflite, who was slowly coming to his feet. "The stars have changed position," Neflite said. The Knights looked up to see that the stars had indeed shifted position. "That settles it then," Frank said. "Now all we have to do is figure out what year it is." Turning, Frank lead the Knights out of the park. "No matter what, Serena will be the prime target of the attacks," Ken said. "Without Serena around in the future, Queen Beryl will win without much of a fight." As they left the park, Aaron walked over to one of the trash cans and fished out a newspaper. "According to this paper," he said, glancing over it, "the year is 1987." "Ten years," Frank muttered. "That would make most of the Scouts about five years old," Andrew said. "Which Scouts live in the area during this time period?" Frank asked. "Just Serena, Amy, and Raye," Chad said. The group walked in silence, waiting for Frank to make a decision. For some reason, they all looked to Frank as the leader of the Knights. Aaron guessed it was because they thought since his father was the last Lord of the Sun, leader of the Knights of the Sun, Frank was the most logical choice for a leader. "Here's how we'll do it," Frank said, finally. "Greg and Ken will watch over Raye, Chad and Andrew will watch Amy, and Aaron, Neflite, and I will watch out for Serena." "But I should have Raye," Chad protested. "And I should be with Amy," Greg said, adding his protest to Chad's. Frank stopped walking and looked back at the Knights. "We must remain observers in this," he said. "The only time we can interact with anyone is when the attacks come. If I let you protect your respective girlfriends, you'll be tempted to interfere. And that will mess up the timeline, which we cannot let that happen." The others nodded at Frank's logic. "If anything out of the ordinary happens, contact the rest of us, through your communicator," Frank said. "Questions?" The Knights shook their heads in response. "Good," Frank said, "Find your charges and let's get this over with." ******** Frank, Aaron, and Neflite stood across from a small, two story, white house. "Are you sure this is the right place?" Neflite asked, looking at Frank. "Well, this is where she lives in our time," Frank said, "and she never mention moving, so..." Frank's voice trailed off as the door to the house opened and a small girl, about five years old, bounded out. She was dressed in a bright pink jacket and a red skirt. Her long, blond hair was tied into two balls, then ran down into ponytails. "By the Moon," Aaron breathed, staring. Suddenly, the girl tripped and crashed to the ground. The little girl sat up and sat motionless for a moment. Then she let out a wail that would wake the dead, complete with a stream of tears. "Moons," Frank said, "that is definitely Serena." ******** Greg and Ken stood at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the temple. "Grandpa!" a high-pitched, angry voice shrieked from the top of the stairs. "Do you think it's her?" Ken asked. "If it is she hasn't changed in ten years," Greg said. From the top of the stairs, an older, placating voice answered the first. "Now, darling... OW!" Suddenly, a young girl, no more than five, appeared at the top of the stairs and came storming down. She had long, black hair that reached her waist and was wearing a white kamudo and a red skirt. The girl pushed passed the Knights and ran down the streets. Ken and Greg stared after her, astonished. "Unbelievable," Ken said. "It's like a miniature version of her," Greg said. With that, the two Knights took off after the fleeing Raye. ******** Chad looked up from the bench where he and Andrew were sitting to see a small girl, about five years old, come out of the house, carrying several books under her left arm and reading a book in her right hand. She was dressed in a light blue jacket and a blue skirt, both of which matched her bright blue hair. "That's got to be her," Andrew said. "She must have been born with a book in her hand," Chad said as the duo stood and followed the tiny Amy. Chapter 7 Dark Scouts vs. Sailor Scouts: Round One The Scouts watched as the Knights vanished from sight and the portal closed behind them. Sailor Pluto glanced at the Scouts and said, "We will meet again." Without waiting for a reply, Sailor Pluto vanished. "Now what?" Angie asked. "We should try to figure out where the Dark Scouts are," Amy said. "But we don't even know where to start," Serena whined. "Yes, we do," Krista said. "Remember, the Dark Scouts are exact duplicates of us, just evil." "So, what we would do if the situation was reversed?" Raye asked. "I'd hit us when we least expected it," Lita said. "Yeah," Mina joined in, "at our homes." "I'd take out one person at a time, starting with the strongest ," Darien said, his voice thoughtful. "Which would be you," Amy said, looking at Darien. "No, I would deal with myself personally," Darien said. He shook his head. "Do you know how stupid that sounds?" he asked, smiling slightly. Lita frowned and said, "Then I guess I would go after Serena." Everyone turned to look at Serena, who cringed and whined, "Why do they always come after me?" "We should head to Serena's for the night," Amy said. The rest of the group nodded and together they headed towards Serena's. ******** Angie, Amy, Lita, and Serena raced towards the school. The Scouts had spent a sleepless night at Serena's waiting for the Dark Scouts to attack, but dawn had come without even a sign of them. Amy couldn't figure it out. Logically, the Dark Scouts should have attacked Serena last night. And logic always won out, so obviously, she had missed something. But what? Serena blinked as she struggled to keep her eyes open. I can't believe we wasted all that time just waiting for the Dark Scouts, she thought, miserably. I could have been doing so many other things, like my hair, my nails, anything. Lita frowned as she ran. She didn't understand why the Dark Scouts hadn't done anything to them yet. At this point, she at least would have made her present know once more by doing anything to get their attention. Angie felt something tugging at the back of her, something they missed when they discussed what the Dark Scouts would do. But for some reason, she couldn't grasp it. It felt like something she had been told long ago. ******** Darien opened the door to his apartment and stopped dead in his tracks. Inside were three police officers. One had his gun trained on Darien as soon as he came in. The second one was standing by Darien's closet, holding something that look like a Tuxedo Mask costume. The third one sat on his couch, looking up as Darien came in. "Darien Monaru?" the officer on the couch said. Darien nodded, standing perfectly still. The officer motioned Darien to come forward, then turned to someone out of Darien's sight and said, "Is this him?" Darien came into his living room to see Molly and Melvin, two of Serena's friends. Melvin looked away from Darien and nodded. Molly burst into tears and cried, "Why, Darien?" The officer on the couch motioned to the other two officers. The one holding the gun keep it trained on Darien, while the other one came forward, taking out a pair of handcuffs, and placed them on Darien's wrists. Darien stared at the officer on the couch as he said, "Darien Monaru, you are under arrest for the murder of Christine Diya. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney , one will be assigned to you by the courts. Do you understand these rights as they have been explained to you?" Darien nodded numbly as he felt his world drop out from under him. ******** Krista threw open the door to her house and ran in. She was late for her job teaching Serena's class. She took the stairs to her room two at a time, in hurry to get to school. About half-way up the stairs, Krista stopped, suddenly realizing she wasn't alone. She spun around, looking back down the stairs to see two of the Dark Scouts, Dark Jupiter and Dark Mars. Before Krista could react, Dark Mars clasped her hands together and shouted, "Mars Darkfire Ignite!" Krista leaped over the banister of the stairs just before the black fireball exploded where she had stood. Krista landed on the floor near the stairs and instinctively rolled as Dark Jupiter shouted, "Jupiter Darkbolt Crash!" Black lightning scorched the floor as Krista leaped to her and ran from her house. Casting a glance over her shoulder, Krista saw the two Dark Scouts emerge from the house and give the chase. ******** Raye and Mina walked through the streets of Tokyo. They had off from school that day, so they had no where they really needed to be. "Why do you think the Dark Scouts didn't attack us?" Mina asked. Raye frowned. It was the same question she had been asking herself. "I don't know," she answered. "They must have somehow known we'd be waiting for them." Mina stopped dead in her tracks and said, "That's it." Raye turned to look at her. "What do you mean?" she asked. "The Dark Scouts are us," Mina started, "they expected us to be waiting for them. They knew we thought they were going to attacked last, so they didn't." "So when would they attack us?" Raye asked. It came to them both in the same instant. "today," they said in unison. "Of course," Raye said, amazed they hadn't thought of it earlier. "They can get Serena, Lita, Angie, Krista, and Amy at school when they can't do anything about it," Mina said. "Come on, we've got to get to them before it's too late," Raye said. The pair took off at full tilt towards Serena's school. ******** Savior sat in the abandon church, watching the events unfold themselves in a portal he had created. He smiled. Things were going better than he anticipated. True, he had failed to turn Neflite to his side, but if things continued in the direction they were going, one of his teams were bound to succeed. Then maybe he won't have to carry out the rest of his plan. Savior shook himself of the thought. Unless they did succeed, he had to keep his sight on the finale of his plans. If he wavered, he may not have the courage to carry it out. He closed his eyes and stretched out his hand. Instantly, a sleek, black staff appeared in his hand. He opened his eyes as his smile widened. "Soon," he whispered, "soon it will be time to retrieve your counterpart." Chapter 8 Commence Attacks Greg yawned. He had kept watch over the temple all night, but there had been no activity whatsoever, except for the occasional shouting match between Raye and her grandfather. Greg glanced around him from his hiding place along the temple wall, looking for signs of Ken or the Negaverse, but found neither. He yawned again. He glanced towards the temple and noticed for the first time, something attached to the door. Greg frowned. Whatever it was, it hadn't been there earlier. Moving slowly and quietly, Greg moved towards the door to get a better look at whatever it was. 'It' turned out to be a note. Greg glanced around once more, then quickly scanned the note. He gasped as his eyes widened in surprise. Reaching out, Greg pulled the note off the door and moved back to his hiding spot. Once there, he got out his communicator and contacted the other Knights. ******** "Tell me again what the note said," Frank ordered. "It said if we wanted to resolve this immediately, we should meet them in the park at noon," Greg replied over the communicator. Frank frowned. "How did they know we were here?" he asked aloud. "We've only be here for a night and before this I don't think they knew about us." "What do you want us to do?" Greg asked. Frank though for a moment, then said, "You, Chad, Aaron, and Neflite will go to the park and meet this 'challenge'. Ken, Andrew, and I will stay with the Scouts and make sure they don't try anything." "Do you want me to contact Chad and Andrew and tell them?" Greg asked. Frank nodded. "Do that. Aaron and Neflite will meet you at the park in a few hours," Frank said. "Signing off." Frank closed his communicator and looked over at Neflite and Aaron. "I don't like it," he said. "How did they know about us?" Aaron shrugged. "I don't know," he said. "But you were right in what you did. It may be a trick to get us away from the Scouts." "Sometimes the generals of Beryl just know something," Neflite explained. "There's no concrete way to explain it, but it happens." Frank nodded, but he still felt he was missing something. "Alright, you two go to the park and pick a good site to defend," Frank said, "I'll keep an eye on Serena for a while." ******** The generals gazed down at Greg as he hunched over his communicator. "How did Savior know they were going to be here?" Zoycite asked. "I don't know," Malachite answered, rubbing his chin. "But he was right. They're not sending everyone." "Which means the three of us split up to attack each Scout," Jedite said, "while the aliens and the Brother Grim take care of them." "Who do you want, my love," Malachite said, glancing at Zoycite. "I want the fire girl, Sailor Mars," she replied, smiling evilly. "And I want Sailor Mercury," Jedite said. "Then that leaves me with the Moon brat," Malachite said, his voice filled with a sort of happiness. "Excellent." ******** Frank leaned against the wall that surrounded Serena's house and stared up at the sky. A smile spread across his face as his thoughts turned to Angie. "Mister, are you ok?" Frank turned and looked down to see the young Serena staring up at him. "What?" he managed. "Are you ok?" the little girl demanded. "I'm fine," Frank said, getting confused. "Why do you ask?" "You've been staring out into space for almost five minutes," Serena answered. "What's your name?" Frank almost laughed at the abrupt change of subject. "My name's Frank," he said. Serena's face screwed up in distaste. "I don't like it," she said. Frank felt his jaw fall open. "I'm sorry you don't like my name," he said, "but my parents gave it to me." "I'll have to talk to them about their taste," Serena said as she began to walk away. Frank quickly moved to walk next to her. "What's your name?" he asked, trying to create conversation. "Mommy says I'm not supposed to talk to strangers," Serena said in a matter of fact tone. Frank opened his mouth to argue when he heard a footfall behind him. Spinning around, Frank found himself face to face with a man with long silver hair dressed in a uniform of a general. "Malachite," Frank muttered. Malachite looked at Frank, almost as if he was puzzled, then looked at Serena. Raising his hand, Malachite said, "Good-bye, little lady." A ball of fire shot from Malachite's hand at Serena as she screamed. ******** Ken yawned as he watched the young Raye rake leaves. It was almost noon and still no sign of the generals. They probably wouldn't hit here, which meant that Chad, Greg, Aaron, and Neflite were going to have all the fun over at the park. Ken shifted position, trying to work out the cramps in his muscles from sitting in the bushes too long. Raye moved just out of sight as he did this. Ken craned his neck to see her and found himself face to face with Raye's grandfather. "Who are you?" the old man demanded. Ken's mind worked fanatically, unsure exactly what to say to him. He opened his mouth to start explaining when they both heard Raye scream. "Raye!" Grandpa shouted as he spun around. Ken leaped to his feet to the woman general, Zoycite, standing over Raye. "Zoycite!" he shouted as he started forward. Zoycite turned to look at him. Raising a hand, she said, "Zoi!" Black lightning leaped from her hand at Ken, who dodged it. Grandpa ran over to Raye, scooped her up, and leaped away from Zoycite, leaving her to face Ken. ******** Andrew sat at the table behind Army's table in the library, absent-mindedly flipping through a book. He glanced up at the clock. Five after twelve. If anything was going to happened, it would happen soon. He looked over at Amy, completely absorbed in the book she was reading. He wondered briefly if she would ever change. As he shifted position, trying to get more comfortable in the hard wooden chair, something feel out of his pocket and clattered to the floor. Andrew reached down and picked up the ring Rita had given back to him. He fingered it slowly. He knew, deep down, it wasn't his fault, but he felt there must have been something he could have done to prevent it. Unfortunately, he didn't get anymore time to think about it, for at that moment, the roof exploded. Andrew leaped forward over the table, using his body to shield Amy. As the roof stopped falling, Andrew looked up to see Jedite hovering over head. Chapter 8 The Sailor Scouts Strike Back Darien sat in his jail cell, his head in his hands. Slowly, he lifted his head and said, "I have to get out of here." The words echoed off the walls of the empty cell. Darien reached into the inside pocket of his jacket and pulled out a small red rose. Smiling slightly, Darien slowly raised the rose to his eye level and began rotating it slowly. The police had of course searched him, but no one ever find his rose. Darien closed his eyes in concentration. His rose flared brightly for a moment, then the glow spread from the rose to his body. Darien opened his eyes and stood as his clothes transformed into a tuxedo. A long cape formed on his shoulders and a top hat appeared in the center of the room. The hat flew across room and landed neatly on his head as a pair of tuxedo glasses appeared on his face. His cane appeared in his right as he strode purposely to towards the cell bars. Tuxedo Mask swung his cane at the cell bars, slicing through them like they were butter. A second slice with his cane sent the bars tumbling to the ground, creating an opening to the hallway. Ducking slightly, Tuxedo Mask stepped through the bars into the hallway beyond and began moving back the way police had brought him. As he walked down the hall, two policemen rounded the corner. Both of them had their guns out a split second after they saw Tuxedo Mask, but a split second was long enough for him. Two roses flew from his hand as he ran forward. The roses embedded in the barrels of the two guns before either policeman could get a shot off. A second later, Tuxedo Mask slammed into the first policeman, knocking him into the wall. The second policeman pulled out his billy club and took a swing at Tuxedo Mask. Tuxedo Mask dodged the club and produced his cane. He blocked a second blow from the policeman, then slammed his cane into the policeman's gut, doubling him up. A swift uppercut to the policeman's jaw put him with his fellow officer. Tuxedo Mask turned in the direction the two officers had come to see a third officer with a gun trained on him. "Hands up," the officer, motioning with his gun. Tuxedo Mask raised his hands, his mind racing for a way to get out of this. As the policeman reached down to get his walkie talkie, his eyes glanced down at the two policemen at Tuxedo Mask's feet. Before his eyes could come up, Tuxedo Mask reached up, grabbed the officer, and threw him into the wall. Tuxedo Mask took off down the hall, knowing that other policemen were most likely on the way. He made his way through the office part of the police station, taking care to stay out of sight. Without any more incidents, Tuxedo Mask escaped from the police station. ********* Krista ran down the street with her school on it. She had been running from the Dark Scouts all day. Every time she thought she had lost them, they would show up and put her back on the run. She hadn't even had time to transform. Krista stopped short of the school and squinted. In the distance, running towards her were Raye and Mina. "Thank the Moon," Krista muttered as she started forward again. Lightning exploded in front of her. Krista spun around to see Dark Jupiter and Dark Mars standing behind her. "And where do you think you're going?" Dark Jupiter asked, sneering. Krista wrapped her hand around the purple, heart-shaped amulet that hung around her neck and yelled, "Vega Star Power!" A bright purple heart shot out of the amulet, then pulled back, surrounding Krista in a brilliant purple light. With a flash of light, Krista transformed into the purple uniform of Sailor Vega. The two Dark Scouts smiled slightly. "Oh, I'm scared," Dark Jupiter said. "It's Sailor Vega," Dark Mars said, "what ever shall we do?" "Run for your lives," a voice said. Sailor Vega turned slightly to see that Raye and Mina had caught up to her. The two Dark Scouts exchanged surprised looks as the two Scouts pulled out their transformation wands. "Mars Star Power!" "Venus Star Power!" In a burst of fire and light, Raye and Mina transformed into Sailor Mars and Sailor Venus. "I would guess that evens up the odds," Sailor Vega said as she looked back at the two Dark Scouts. ********* "Serena!" Serena turned to see Lita and Amy walking up. "Hey, guys," Serena said. "What are you doing here?" "Krista sent for us," Amy replied. "Do you know why?" Serena shook her head. "I don't know," she said. "She told me and Serena to stay after school," Angie said. "Then after everyone else had left, she told us to wait out here until she was ready." "Ready for what?" Lita asked, her brow wrinkling in confusion. Before anyone could answer her, Krista's voice said, "Ok, girls, you can could in now." The four girls walked into the classroom and stopped short. Across the room stood Dark Moon, Dark Venus, Dark Sunshine, Dark Vega, and Dark Mercury. "Krista?" Angie said, her voice thick with concern. Dark Vega laughed and said, "Wrong Krista, Sunshine." "What have you done to Krista?" Serena demanded. "Let's just say we've taken care to make sure she doesn't interfere," Dark Moon said. "Let's take care of these bozos," Lita said. Serena nodded her agreement and produced her locket. The locket snapped open to reveal the Imperium Silver Crystal as Serena shouted, "Moon Crystal Power!" Lita pulled out her transformation wand and shouted, "Jupiter Star Power!" Amy pulled out her transformation wand and shouted, "Mercury Star Power!" Angie grabbed the golden, heart shaped medallion that hung around her neck and said, "Sunshine Star Power!" In burst of ribbon and feathers, Serena transformed into the red and yellow uniform of Sailor Moon. With a crack of lightning, Lita transformed into the green uniform of Sailor Jupiter. In an explosion of water and bubbles, Amy transformed into the blue uniform of Sailor Mercury. With a flash of sunlight, Angie transformed into the gold uniform of Sailor Sunshine. "My name is Sailor Moon, champion of love and justice," said Sailor Moon. "My name is Sailor Jupiter," Sailor Jupiter said. "My name is Sailor Mercury," said Sailor Mercury. "My name is Sailor Sunshine," Sailor Sunshine said. "And we will right wrongs and triumph over evil," Sailor Moon shouted. "In the name of the moon, we will punish you." Dark Moon rolled her eyes. "Are you quite finished?" she asked. "Yeah, and so are you," Sailor Jupiter said, crossing her arms at the wrist. "Jupiter Thunder..." Dark Mercury stepped forward and said, "Mercury Dark Bubble..." "...Crash!" "...Freeze!" The ice bubbles and lightning bolt collided and split second later, the lightning bolt fell to the ground, frozen solid. "Ahh... Mercury, I didn't know your bubbles could do that," Sailor Jupiter said, awe clearly heard in her voice. "Neither did I," Sailor Mercury muttered. The Dark Scouts smiled as the advanced on the four Sailor Scouts. Duels Frank grabbed Serena and leaped over the fireball as Serena screamed. He landed in a crouched position and immediately rolled forward as another fireball exploded on the ground where he had been seconds before. Frank rolled to his feet and took off running, still holding Serena. He glanced over his shoulder to see Malachite running after him. Frank turned the corner and put Serena down on the ground. "Run," he ordered. "Run somewhere where you'll be safe." Serena nodded once, then took off at top speed down the street. Frank turned in the direction he had come from just as Malachite rounded the corner. "If you want her, you'll have to go through me," Frank said. "And what are you going to do to stop me?" Malachite said. Frank straighten and moved his hand so that it was parallel to his heart."Sol Star Transformation," Frank said quietly. Brilliant silver energy burst from Frank's hand, then ran up his arm, covering him in a sleek, silver coating. With a flash of silver light, Frank transformed into the silver armor and silver, flowing cape of Centurion Sol. Malachite stepped back in surprise. "Who are you?" he demanded. "I am Centurion Sol," Centurion Sol stated simply. "Now let's get this over with." Holding out his hand, Centurion Sol said, "Sol Star Saber." Energy gathered in Centurion Sol's hand, slowly changing into the shape of sword. Malachite's eyes narrowed. "Well, Centurion Sol, if you want me to go through you," Malachite said, a curved scimitar appearing in his hand, "then that's what I'll do."Malachite ran forward, swing his scimitar in a large arc. Centurion Sol blocked the blow, then returned with a thrust of his own. Malachite turned the thrust away, then hit Centurion Sol in the face with his free hand. Centurion Sol staggered back as Malachite pushed his advantage, keeping Centurion Sol on the defensive. Malachite thrusted his scimitar at Centurion Sol's heart, but Centurion Sol ducked the thrust and swept his leg out, knocking Malachite to the ground. Both combatants came to their feet and began circling each other, keeping a good distance from each other. Malachite's scimitar vanished, replaced quickly by two fiery daggers, one in each hand. Malachite flung both daggers at once, sending them spinning end over end at Centurion Sol. Centurion Sol dodged the first dagger, but the second dagger ripped through Centurion Sol's armor, cutting into him. Centurion Sol staggered back, his saber falling from his hand. As the saber vanished, Centurion Sol lifted both hands and said, "Sol Star Blast!" Twin beams of silver energy lanced out of Centurion Sol's hands at Malachite, who raised a hand, creating a shield of air in front. As the two energy beams dissipate, Malachite dropped his shield and unleashed two blasts of fire from his hands at Centurion Sol. Centurion Sol leaped aside, dodging the flames, and shouted, "Sol Star Shield!" A shield of silver energy appeared on Centurion Sol's arm as Malachite unleashed another burst of fire. Centurion Sol blocked the fire with his shield, sending it licking the air on both sides of him. He strained against the force of the flames to keep his shield between the flames and him. A slight smile appeared on Malachite's face as he shifted some of his concentration from the fire to the ground. Instantly, the ground underneath Centurion Sol bucked up, throwing him down. Malachite flew into the air, brought both hands to bear on Centurion Sol, and unleashed another explosion of fire. Centurion Sol struggled to stand against the flames. As he regained his feet, the flames stopped. Centurion Sol looked up at Malachite in confusion. A split second later, two twin columns of air slammed into him, driving back into the ground. Centurion Sol groaned in pain. It felt like every bone in his body had been snapped in half. He forced himself to his knees as Malachite landed in front of him. "Why don't you stay down?" Malachite demanded. Centurion Sol meet Malachite's eyes and said, "As long as I have a breath in my body, I will fight you and all those like you." "Admirable," Malachite said, his curved sword reappearing in his hand. Malachite raised the sword above his head and said, "Admirable, but incredibly stupid." "STOP!" Malachite spun around and Centurion Sol gazed past Malachite at the sound of the voice. Standing about ten feet away was a young boy. Centurion Sol's eyes narrowed. The boy looked so familiar, yet... "Darien..." Malachite whispered. Centurion Sol pushed himself to his feet as Malachite moved towards Darien, who began to back away. Taking a deep breath, Centurion Sol pushed all the pain from his mind. This was his last chance. Thrusting his hand into the air, Centurion Sol said, "Sol StarSabre..." Centurion Sol's sabre rematerialized in his hand, pulsing with energy. Bringing his sabre down so that it pointed at Malachite, Centurion Sol finished, "...Super Nova!" From the tip of the sabre came an explosion of silver energy that engulfed Malachite completely. Malachite screamed in agony as the star energy ripped through his body. The young Darien Shield watched with a type of grim satisfaction as Malachite disintegrate. Centurion Sol dropped to his knees, drain of the last of his strength. His sabre vanished again as Darien ran over to him. "Are you alright?" Darien asked, dropping down to the same level as Centurion Sol. Centurion Sol looked up, meeting Darien's eyes. "If I meet you here," Centurion Sol rasped, "why don't you know me there?" Darien stared at him in confusion as Centurion Sol was engulfed by a purple and vanished from sight. ******** Ken stared at Zoycite and said, "Keep away from her, Zoycite." "And how are you going to stop me?" Zoyite sneered. Punching his right hand into his left hand, Ken said, "Sirrus Star Transformation." Green energy exploded from his hands and sped around him, changing his clothes into the green armor and green cape of Centurion Sirrus. "I am a Centurion Sirrus," he said, falling into a fighting stance, "a Knight of the Stars, defender of the weak and innocent. With the power of the stars, I will triumph." Zoycite shook her head. "And I thought Sailor Moon's speech was bad," she muttered. "I'll work on it," Centurion Sirrus snapped. "Not when your dead," Zoycite answered, as her hands flew up. "Lightning Chain!" Black lightning shot out of Zoycite's hands and crashed into Centurion Sirrus, knocking him down. Centurion Sirrus stood up slowly, his body aching with a dull pain, and said, "Nice shot," he said. Then he said, "My turn." Pointing his hands at Zoycite, he said, "Sirrus Star Blast!" Green energy exploded from Centurion Sirrus's hands and sped towards Zoycite. Zoycite stepped aside, letting the blast pass right by her. Looking back at Centurion Sirrus, she pointed her hand at him and said, "Pathetic. Lightning Storm." Lightning leaped from her hand and wrapped itself around Centurion Sirrus. He screamed in pain as the lightning coursed through his body. Zoycite cut off the lightning and Centurion Sirrus crumpled to the ground. "Now, Mr. Defender of the weak and innocent," Zoycite mocked, pointing her hands at him, "you will die." Centurion Sirrus closed his eyes, unable to move. I've failed, he thought as he said aloud, "I love you, Lita." Seconds passed as Centurion Sirrus waited for the end to come. Finally, he opened his eyes and was surprised to see Zoycite was gone. He pushed himself to his feet and looked around, his eyes searching out any type of movement and finding none. "Why didn't she kill me?" he asked aloud. Centurion Sirrus stood there as a purple light washed over him and he vanished. ******** People screamed and scrambled around the library, avoiding the falling debris, as Andrew scooped up the crying Amy in his arms and ran from the room. He turned the corner, almost crashing into a security guard. Pushing Amy into the guard's arms, Andrew said, "Take her." The guard nodded and ran down the hall, cradling Amy. Andrew turned, placed his hands about a foot apart with his palms facing each other and said, "Polaris Star Transformation!" A bronze sphere of energy formed in the middle of his hands, hung there for a second, then leaped on to his hands. The energy up his arms and over the rest of his body, transforming him into the bronze armor and bronze, flowing cape of Centurion Polaris. Centurion Polaris ran back into the room as Jedite landed on one of the still-intact tables. "Hold it, Jedite!" Centurion Polaris yelled. "Who are you?" Jedite demanded, his eyes narrowing. "I am Centurion Polaris, defender of the faith," Centurion Polaris shouted. "With the power of the stars, I will triumph over all evil." "You took lessons from the Moon brat, didn't you?" Jedite asked. He shook his head and said, "Never mind. You won't last long enough for it to matter." "That's what you think," Centurion Polaris said. Throwing out his hands, he shouted, "Polaris Star Blast!" Bronze star energy burst from Centurion Polaris's hands and flew across the room. Jedite leaped over the blast, letting it destroy the table had he stood on. "Good," Jedite said. "You're not as hopeless as the Moon Brat. this may actually be a challenge." Jedite's eyes glowed a bright white as he said, "Mind Assault." A brilliant white beam of pure white light shot out of Jedite's eyes, striking Centurion Polaris in the chest. Centurion Polaris crashed into one of the bookcase, bringing books on it tumbling down on top of him. Centurion Polaris rolled to the right, ignoring his pain, as another beam slammed into the spot where he had been moments before. Jumping to his feet, Centurion Polaris shouted, "Polaris Star Shield!" Instantly, a bronze shield materialized on Centurion Polaris's arm just as another beam streaked towards him. As Centurion Polaris deflected the beam with his shield, Jedite reached out with his hand and said, "Mind Crush." Jedite clenched his hand. Immediately Centurion Polaris felt a crushing grip surround him. The grip tightened on him, squeezing the air from his body. Just as Centurion Polaris started to black out, the grip released him and let him fall to the floor. Centurion Polaris hit the floor and groaned. For a moment, he laid there, waiting for Jedite to finish him. Finally, he opened his eyes to find Jedite was no where to be seen. "What happened?" he asked, letting his eyes close again. An instant later, Centurion Polaris vanished in flash of purple light. ******** Aaron, Greg, Chad, and Neflite entered the park and glanced around. "Did they say where they'd meet us?" Aaron asked, looking back at Greg. Greg shook his head and said, "I think they'll let us know where they..." The ground exploded underneath the quartet, sending them scattering. "I think we just found them," Neflite said, jumping to his feet. Floating in the air above them where Alan and Anne. "Knights, power up!" Aaron commanded. Aaron pounded his fist on his chest and shouted, "Vega Star Transformation!" White light burst out from Aaron's fist and surrounded him, changing him into the white armor and white, flowing cape of Centurion Vega. Chad placed his hands together and bowed as he said, "Altair Star Transformation." Chad's hands glowed a bright red which traveled up his arms and over the rest of his body, transforming Chad into the red armor and red, flowing cape of Centurion Altair. Greg folded his arms and said, "Regulus Star Transformation." Twin beams of blue light shot from Greg's eyes and spun around him, transforming him into the blue armor and blue, flowing cape of Centurion Regulus. Alan and Anne glanced at each. "Who are you?" Alan asked, looking back at the Knights. "I am Centurion Vega," Centurion Vega said. "I am Centurion Regulus," said Centurion Regulus. "I am Centurion Altair," Centurion Altair said. "We are the Star Knights," Centurion Vega said. "And we are the defenders of justice," Centurion Regulus said. "With the power of stars, we will triumph over the evil of this world," Centurion Altair said. Neflite put his head in hands and said, "You guys have got to work on that one." "We are not impressed," Anne said, unleashing a blast of energy as Alan shouted, "Brothers grim attack!" Centurion Vega leaped aside, dodging the blast. "Knights, go!" he shouted. Centurion Altair and Centurion Regulus charged the two aliens. "Altair Star Sais!" Two red energy sais appeared in Centurion Altair's hands as he leaped at Anne. "Regulus Star Spear!" A long blue spear appeared in Centurion Regulus's hands as he launched himself at Alan. Neflite charged forward to join the attack when a tall figure cloaked in black robes stepped out in front of him. Before Neflite could react, the figure brought a twisted, black staff across Neflite's face. Neflite stumbled as the figure said, "I am Black Flare of the Brothers Grim." Centurion Vega held out his hand and said, "Vega Star Hammer!" A white energy warhammer appeared in Centurion Vega's hand as he moved forward to help his fellow Knights. Suddenly, a tall figure stepped out in front of him donned in black armor and took a swing at Centurion Vega with a long, curved, black sword. Centurion Vega dodged the blade and stared at the figure in surprise. "Who are you?" Centurion Vega demanded. "I am Black Blade of the Brothers Grim," the figure replied, raising his sword. Anne floated to her left, letting Centurion Altair fly by her. Tuning to face him again, two small daggers appeared in Anne's hands. Centurion Altair spun around and thrusted one of his sais at Anne, who turned it aside with one of her daggers. Anne's eyes glowed white for a brief second, then white energy leaped from her eyes striking Centurion Altair in the chest. Centurion Altair flew away from Anne and crashed into a nearby tree. As he groaned, Anne pointed her daggers at him and two beams lanced out of the daggers, striking Centurion Altair in the chest again. Pain exploded in Centurion Altair's head as he heard Anne say, "Now, knight, it is time to die." A long, curved sword appeared in Alan's hand as he dodged Centurion Regulus's spear. Centurion Regulus brought the spear, then took another swing at Alan. Alan turned the spear aside, then thrusted his sword forward. Centurion Regulus pulled back, out the sword's reach. Alan brought his free hand forward and fired a blast of black energy into Centurion Regulus's stomach. As Centurion Regulus doubled up in pain, Alan hit him with the flat of his sword, then fired another blast, this one in Centurion Regulus's face. Centurion Regulus fell to his knees, the spear falling from his hands, and clutched his face. He moaned in pain as Alan raised his sword above his head and said, "Good-bye, knight." Neflite rose to his feet and stared at Black Flare. "Black Flare, huh?" he said. "Well, I'm Neflite, former general of the Negaverse." Without answering, Black Flare raised his staff and leveled it at Neflite. A fireball shot from the staff and raced at Nefltie. Neflite calmly raised his hand, causing the fireball to vanish without a trace. "And being a general of the Negaverse, even a former general," Neflite continued as if nothing had happened, "means that I have more power in my little finger than you have coursing through your whole body." With that, Neflite raised his hands and fired twin beams of white energy at Dark Flare. The energy beams sliced through Dark Flare like butter. Dark Flare let out an unearthly scream, then vanished in burst of light. Centurion Vega stepped another swing from Dark Blade, then swung his hammer at Dark Blade. The hammer collided with Dark Blade's armor, sending a loud clang ringing through the air. Dark Blade stumbled away as Centurion Vega hit him with the hammer again. Dark Blade pulled away hastily, trying desperately to retreat. Centurion Vega let him step a few feet, then lifted the hammer as if to throw it. "Vega StarHammer Torpedo!" The hammer launched itself from Centurion Vega's hand, becoming blur of white energy. The hammer slammed into Dark Blade, tearing a large hole in his mid-section. Dark Blade looked down in surprise, then vanished in a burst light. Centurion Vega and Neflite turned away from their opponents to see Alan and Anne standing over Centurion Regulus and Centurion Altair. Before either Centurion Vega and Neflite could move, Alan and Anne vanished in a flash of black light. Centurion Vega stared. "What happened to them?" he asked. Neflite turned to answer, but before he could the four of them vanished in a flash of purple light. Chapter 10 Final Battle Tuxedo Mask ducked into an alley and pressed his back against the wall as another police car drove by. Tuxedo Mask hit the wall with his fist in frustration. "This is getting me nowhere," he muttered, "The police have been alerted to my escape and are looking for both my identities." Tuxedo Mask blinked as an idea came to him. Reaching into the pocket of his tuxedo jacket, he pulled out his still perfect red rose. Once, unconsciously, he had called on a third identity. His only hope was to call on that identity again, only this time consciously. Tuxedo Mask closed his eyes in concentration. His rose changed to a pure white then flared brightly. A glow spread from the rose to his body. Darien opened his eyes and smiled as the formal garments of Tuxedo Mask changed to the Arabian garments of the Moonlight Knight. Moonlight Knight looked himself over and nodded in satisfaction. "Isn't that nice," a voice said from above Moonlight Knight, "the Arabian wanted-be." Moonlight Knight looked up to see Dark Mask crouched on the fire-escape. "So, it was you who set me up," Moonlight Knight said. Dark Mask nodded slightly. "And now that I've destroyed you as both Darien and Tuxedo Mask, I will kill you." "You will find that I, like the beauty that surrounds us, am difficult to destroy," Moonlight Knight said, drawing his scimitar. Dark Mask laughed as he produced his cane. "I see your poetic vocabulary is slowly coming back," he said, "through you really need to work on it." Moonlight Knight launched himself at Dark Mask in response, swinging his scimitar at Dark Mask's head. Dark Mask ducked underneath the blow, then brought his cane up into Moonlight Knight's stomach. Moonlight Knight doubled up as the breath was knocked out of him. "The Moonlight Knight was always the weakest of our personalities', Darien," Dark Mask said, hitting Moonlight Knight on the back with his cane. "Why did you change into him?" Dark Mask brought his cane high into the air and brought it down, but Moonlight Knight was no longer there. "Because the Moonlight Knight is fast and silent, like desert wind." Dark Mask spun around just as Moonlight Knight threw three roses. Dark Mask leaped aside, allowing the roses to past by him, and said, "Good. I thrive on a challenge." ********* Sailor Vega, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Venus faced off against Dark Mars and Dark Jupiter. "You don't stand a chance now," Sailor Vega said. "Even with your friends, you're doomed," Dark Mars said, sneering. Suddenly, the wall of the school building exploded and Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Sunshine, and Sailor Jupiter were thrown out of the building. The four Scouts landed in a heap near Sailor Venus as their evil counterparts leaped from the building. Sailor Moon lifted her head to look up at the three standing Sailor Scouts and said, "They're stronger than us." Sailor Vega helped Sailor Moon to her feet as the others stood up and said, "No, they're not. Anything they can do, we can do." Dark Moon laughed. "I don't think so," she said. "Get 'em, girls." Dark Jupiter stepped forward and said, "Jupiter Dark Dragon!" Sailor Mercury pushed Sailor Moon and Sailor Vega out of the way, raised her hands and said, "Mercury Ice Storm Blast!" The two attacks collided and a split second later, the electric dragon dropped to the ground and shattered. "Yes, we can," Sailor Mercury said. "We finish this here," Sailor Moon said. "You're gonna be moon dust." Pulling out her Moon Scepter, Sailor Moon leveled at the Dark Scouts and said, "Moon Scepter Elimination!" The Dark Scouts scattered, trying to dodge the blast, but the crescent moon of energy sliced through Dark Sunshine, incinerating her. "Two can play that game," Dark Moon said, pulling out a evil copy of the Moon Scepter. "Venus Love Chain Encircle!" A chain of pure energy snaked out and knocked the Dark Scepter from Dark Moon's hands as Sailor Vega stepped forward and said, "Vegan Star Spear Attack!" A long, purple spear materialized in Sailor Vega's hands and three rings of purple energy shot forth at Dark Mercury. The rings surrounded Dark Mercury, then contracted, crushing her into oblivion. "NO!" Dark Venus shouted. "Venus Dark Shower!" Black meteorites flew from Dark Venus's hands at the Sailor Scouts. Sailor Mars and Sailor Mercury both stepped simultaneously. "Mars Firebird Strike!" A bird of bright red flames shot out of Sailor Mars's hands, destroying Dark Venus's black meteorites. Bringing her hands up, Sailor Mercury shouted, "Mercury Ice Bubble Blast!" Ice flew from Sailor Mercury's hands and engulfed Dark Venus, freezing her. Sailor Mercury picked up a rock and threw it at the frozen figure. The rock struck Dark Venus and shattered her into a million pieces. Sailor Jupiter stepped forward to face her counterpart and smiled. "I told you nothing can beat the originals," she said. She crossed her arms and shouted, "Jupiter Thunder Dragon!" Electricity leaped from Sailor Jupiter's hands and bounded across the ground at Dark Jupiter, taking on the form of a large, dragon. Dark Jupiter screamed as the electric dragon swallowed her whole. Sailor Venus pointed at Dark Vega and said, "Venus Meteor Shower!" Yellow energy rained down on Dark Vega, causing her to dance about and scream in pain. Sailor Moon stepped forward, lifted her Scepter and said, "Moon Scepter Elimination!" A crescent moon of energy shot from the Scepter and crashed into Dark Vega, causing her to exploded in flash of black light. Sailor Mars looked across at Dark Mars and said, "Two left. Mars Celestial Fire Encircle!" Rings of fire shot from Sailor Mars's hands and sliced through Dark Mars, destroying her. Dark Moon looked around in panic, then dove for her Dark Scepter. Sailor Sunshine brought up her hands and said, "Sunshine Super Sparkle!" Sparks flew from Sailor Sunshine's hands at Dark Moon, just as her hands wrapped around the Dark Scepter. One of the sparks hit the Dark Scepter and an instant later, the Scepter exploded, taking Dark Moon with it. The Scouts were silent as looked over the battlefield. "We beat them," Sailor Moon whispered. She smiled and said it a bit louder. "We beat them." "But it was almost too easy," Sailor Vega said, clutching her spear with both hands. Sailor Mercury shook her head. "No, I don't think it was. " The other Scouts all looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean?" Sailor Venus asked. "The Dark Scouts were as evil as we are good," Sailor Mercury explained. "As corny as this sounds, we defeated them using the one thing they didn't have: teamwork." Sailor Moon smiled as she looked at her friends, who were all nodding at Sailor Mercury's logic. With her friends, she'd be ready for anything. Still smiling, she said, "Come on, let's take care of that mirror." ********* Moonlight Knight blocked Dark Mask's cane with his sword. The two weapons crossed into a "x" formation, bringing the combatants inches from each other. The two now stood on the ledge of building about three blocks from where the fight had started, neither could really gain the upper hand. "Give it up, Darien," Dark Mask said. "The only way for you to beat me is to destroy me and you can't do that." Before Moonlight Knight could answer, a huge spotlight hit them both, causing them to back away from each other. "THIS IS THE POLICE! YOU HAVE NO WHERE TO GO, DARIEN, THROW DOWN YOUR WEAPON." Rage appeared on Dark Mask's face. "It seems that our little contest will have to wait, Darien," he said. Turning, Dark Mask stepped off the ledge and vanished. "WHAT...? Where did he go? Fan out and get him. THE LAWRENCE OF ARABIA WANNBE, PLEASE THROW DOWN YOUR WEAPON AND COME WITH US PEACEFULLY OR WE WILL BE FORCE TO SHOOT." Moonlight Knight smiled beneath his mask. They think Dark Mask is Darien, he thought. Still smiling, Moonlight Knight wrapped his cape about him and vanished. Chapter 10 Return Centurion Sol looked up, slowly opening his eyes. The purple mist that had marked his first trip through time surrounded once more. He pushed himself to his feet. He waited for another time scene to appear, but nothing happened. "It anyone out there?!" Centurion Sol shouted into mists. "Yes," a voice said. Centurion turned to his right to see an old man donned in blue robes with a long, white beard and long, white hair. The man carried a long, gnarled, wooden staff in his right hand and had a owl perched on his left shoulder. He stared at Centurion Sol with intense blue eyes that seemed to look right into his soul. "Who are you?" Centurion Sol whispered, feeling awed at the man's presence. The man cocked his head to the right, still staring, and said, "Irrelevant. What do you seek?" Centurion Sol blinked in surprise. "What do you mean?" he said. "I'm not seeking anything." The old man hobbled forward until his nose almost touched Centurion Sol's. "You should be. The sword of the King awaits you," he said. Centurion Sol frowned. "What is the sword of the king?" he asked. The old man smiled, turned, and began to move away. As Centurion Sol watched, the old man vanished from sight, leaving no trace of his existence. ********* Centurion Sirrus looked around at the mists surrounding him. No time scene appeared this time, much to his relief. As he looked around, the mists parted in front of him to reveal a tall, thin woman in a long, white evening gown that flowed around her. Her hair was tied into two long ponytails that reached down to just past her waist. In her slender hand, she held a pink rod with a yellow crescent moon on its head. "Hello, Centurion Sirrus," the woman said. "How do you know who I am?" Centurion Sirrus asked, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. "I know all those associated with my daughter," the woman responded. "Your daughter?" Centurion Sirrus said, puzzled. Then it hit him. "Queen Serenity," he said, dropping to one knee. "Rise, Knight," Queen Serenity said. As he rose to his feet, she continued, "I need your help, Centurion Sirrus." "By your command," he responded. Queen Serenity smiled. "You are loyal, knight, and for being that I thank you," she said. "Something is blocking me from contacting my daughter, I need you to take this to her." As she spoke, Queen Serenity held out the wand to Centurion Sirrus. Centurion Sirrus took the wand from her hands. As soon as he touched the wand, it vanished and a small, golden chain with a crescent moon amulet appeared around his neck. "This wand is the Crescent Moon Wand," Queen Serenity said, "give it to Serena when she needs it." Centurion Sirrus nodded. "I will, Your Majesty," he said. "Thank you, my Knight, you have my blessings," Queen Serenity said as she vanished from sight. ********* "Aaron." Centurion Vega turned to find his father emerging from the mists. "Father, what are you doing here?" he asked. "The dead can transcend even time," his father answered. "But if you're dead, that would mean..." Centurion Vega started. "You are the Lord of Vega," his father completed. "You must return immediately to Vega, my son." "But father, I have work here to complete," Centurion Vega said. "The Knights and the Scouts need me." "Your world needs you more," his father snapped, angrily. "Your cousin is making a play for the throne." Centurion Vega's eyes widened. "Xonan?" he muttered, "but... I will return immediately, father." "Thank you, my son," his father said. "May the powers of the Moon be with you." Centurion Vega watched as his father faded from sight. ********* Centurion Polaris walked through the mists, his mind wandering and his heart heavy. He knew he was going back to the present and that meant he had to face life without Rita. "Why does it matter?" Centurion Polaris spun around to see a young looking man in a plain, white robe with brown ha that reached to his shoulder and a brown beard. "Who are you?" Centurion Polaris asked. The young man went to answer then frowned. Finally, after what looked like an internal debate, the young man said, "Chris. My name is Chris." Centurion Polaris raised an eyebrow at this as Chris continued, "Now to my question. Why does it matter?" "Why does what matter?" Centurion Polaris asked. "Whether Rita is in your life or not?" "How did you know what I was thinking?" "Lucky guess!" Chris shouted in exasperation. "Now answer the question!" Centurion Polaris was silent for a moment, then said, "Because I love her." "But if you love her, wouldn't you want her to be happy?" Chris asked. Centurion Polaris regarded at him as he said, "Of course, I want her to be happy. If you truly love someone, then you want that person to be happy..." "...Even if it means they're happy with someone else," Chris finished. "Good answer. Not many people have grasped that concept yet." "But that doesn't make the pain of losing someone you love to someone else any easier to bear," Centurion Polaris said. "But it makes letting them go easier," Chris countered. Centurion Polaris nodded slightly in response. Chris stood up and said, "Good. I've done what I came to do." As Chris moved away, Centurion Polaris looked up and said, "Who are you?" Chris looked over his shoulder and said, "Who do you think?" With a smile, Chris vanished. ********* Centurion Regulus looked up as tall man dressed in black robes and a black, flowing cape came towards him. The man had a black beard, a black beard, and intense, black eyes which seemed to bore through Centurion Regulus. Centurion Regulus stood ready to fight, his last experience in the mists becoming fresh in his mind. "You must bring it back," the man said. Centurion Regulus blinked in confusion. "Bring what back?" he asked. "The power," the black robed man said. "The power of the druids." With that, the man vanished, leaving a bewildered Centurion Regulus staring after him. ********* Centurion Altair choked as invisible fingers curdled around his throat. "Who is she?" a voice demanded. Centurion Altair searched for the source of the voice as he fought against the invisible hands, but could find nothing. "Who is who?" Centurion Altair choked out. A image of Sailor Moon appeared in the air in front of Centurion Altair. "Who is she?" the voice demanded again. "She is Sailor Moon," Centurion Altair managed. "Impossible," the voice breathed. All at once, the fingers released him. Centurion Altair stumbled back, breathing heavily. The voice was silent and seemed to be gone, leaving Centurion Regulus to puzzle what had happened. ********* Neflite stepped from the mist to find himself watching a confrontation unfold. About ten feet away, Neflite could see the Sailor Scouts and the Star Knights standing behind Frank, who was kneeling on the ground cradling a woman. Shifting his position slightly, Neflite immediately recognized the woman as Zoycite. As Neflite watched, Sailor Sunshine reached out and her hand on Frank's shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Frank," she said, the sadness in her voice genuine. Frank flinched out from her touch and laid Zoycite gently on the ground. He then reached down and picked up something on the ground. As Frank stood, Neflite could see he now held a long, sleek, black staff. "You killed her," Frank said, his voice filled with a mixture of rage and sadness. "She was evil, Frank," Centurion Vega said, stepping closer to him. "She didn't really love you." Frank spun, lashing out with his fist. The blow caught Centurion Vega in the face and sent him sprawling to the ground. "She did love me!" Frank shouted, towering over Centurion Vega. "Why can't you all accept that!" Sailor Vega helped her husband to his feet as Sailor Moon stepped forward and said, "Frank, I know you're angry now, but you'll see what we did was the right thing to do." Frank stared at Sailor Moon with such hatred that she took a step back in fear. His hand clasped around the staff as he said, "Then I will do what is best." He took a step back from the Scouts and the Knights, thrusted the staff into the air, and shouted, "Sol Black Star Transformation!" A black lightning bolt cracked through the air and blasted Frank, transforming form him into black version of his armor. Neflite stared in amazement and horror as Centurion Regulus said, "Frank, what are you doing?" Frank pointed the staff at the two groups and said, "Frank is no more! I am Supreme Sol, the savior of this and all worlds." "What do you mean?" Sailor Mercury asked. "I will do what should have been done long ago," Supreme Sol said, his voice hard and menacing. "Rid the world of the Sailor Scouts." "No," Centurion Vega said, stepping forward. "Frank, think about what you're doing." "I told you Frank is no more," Supreme Sol said. "Now get out of my way or I will destroy you too." "I can't let you do this, Frank," Centurion Vega said. "Knights. Take him." The Star Knights charged forward, weapons in hand to face Supreme Sol. Neflite watched unable to tear his eyes away as Supreme Sol tapped his staff on the ground and said, "Power Drain." Black light shot from the staff, engulfing both the Sailor Scouts and the Star Knights. Neflite watched as the black light forced both groups to change back into their civilian forms. As the black light vanished, Serena raised her hand and shouted, "Moon Crisis!" Supreme Sol smiled evilly as nothing happened. Serena lowered her hand, staring at it as if she didn't recognize it, and said, "How...?" Instead of answering, Supreme Sol tapped his staff on the ground once more and said, "Energy Chains." Black chains of energy rose from the ground and wrapped around each Knight and Scout, chaining them in place. Neflite watched in horror as Supreme Sol moved to stand over Aaron. "Why?" Aaron said, his voice filled with pain. "Because the Sailor Scouts are as power hungry as the Negaverse," Supreme Sol snarled. "They not only want to rule the world, they want to tell it how to think and how to act. And that is worse than anything the Negaverse wanted to do." Supreme Sol closed his eyes in concentration and, after a moment, the staff morphed into a longsword. Raising the longsword above his head, Supreme Sol said, "I have acted as jury and found you guilty. I have acted as judge and passed sentence. Now I will act as executioner and save this world." A single downward arc relieved Aaron of his head and his life. Neflite fought back a rising nausea as he watched Supreme Sol repeat this process for each Scout and Knight, saving Serena for last. As Supreme Sol approached Serena, Neflite found himself praying for someone, anyone, to stop this madness. But no one came and with one sweep of his sword, Supreme Sol cleaved Serena's head from her shoulders. Neflite closed his eyes and wondered briefly where Tuxedo Mask was. When he opened his eyes, he saw a black vortex had appeared in front of Supreme Sol. Casting a look around, Supreme Sol said, "Now I will save other worlds from the future the Sailor Scouts have planned. I will be their Savior." Neflite's eyes widen as the black staff vanished and Supreme Sol's armor morphed into a red business suit. Epilogue One Week Later... Zoycite walked through the streets, trying to get her mind off Malachite. When they had been pulled back from the past, Zoycite had been the first to notice Malachite absence. She immediately confronted Savior about it and he told her of his death at Centurion Sol's hands. She had went into a frenzy, attacking everything in sight until Savior stripped her of her power once more. The week that past since then had done so in a blur. She found herself taking long walks, trying to escape the pain she felt. Each time she went out Savior stripped her of her power. As she turned into the park, Zoycite wondered, for the millionth time, if this is what Malachite had felt like after her "death". She followed the walkway in the park down to the lake. She stopped and gazed out over the water, wondering if Malachite could see or hear her. A voice woke her from her trance. "Are you alright?" Zoycite turned to see a young man with blond hair wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt standing behind her. "Pardon?" she said, confused. "You've been staring out over the lake now for ten minutes," the young man said. "I thought maybe there was something wrong." Zoycite blinked. "I lost someone recently," she said, unsure of why she was telling this... human. The young man's face clouded with understanding. "So have I," the young man said, staring out over the lake. For a moment, both she and the young man were silent, their attention fixed on the air just above the lake. Finally, the young man looked at her again and said, "My name's Andrew." Zoycite looked at him and smiled slightly. He seemed so kind. "My name's Zoey," she said. She had no idea why, but the name sounded right. The young man, Andrew, smiled back and said, "Would you like something to drink?" Zoycite blinked. "Why not?" she said, after a moment's thought. "Why not?" ********* On the opposite side of the lake from Zoycite and Andrew sat Serena. Serena was also gazing out over the lake, thinking of Darien. He had come to her and explained what had happened with the police and his change to the Moonlight Knight. They had kissed just before he left, unsure of when they would be able to see each other again. For a long time, Serena just sat there, gazing out over the lake and wishing for Darien to appear. A noise from behind her caused Serena to turn. As she watched the bushes parted and someone started to emerge. "Darien?" Serena said, her voice filled with hope. But instead of Darien, a small girl, no more than eight years old, stepped out of the bushes. She was dressed in a pink and white dress with her pink hair pulled up in the same hairstyle as Serena's. Serena smiled at the cuteness of the girl, then said in a sweet voice, "And who are you?" The little girl looked up into Serena's eyes and said, "Gimme the crystal, lady." ********* Frank sat at the table, drumming his fingers. He was going to tell her just as soon as she came in and nothing was going to stop him. He turned in his seat as the door opened and Angie came in the house. Standing slowly, he said, "Ang, I have something I want to tell you." Angie stopped and looked at him. "What's wrong, Frank?" she said, moving towards him. Frank shallowed. Moons, let me do this, he thought. Aloud, he said, "Ang, I..." He stopped, took a step forward, and kissed her. A heart beat later, Angie put her arms around his neck and kissed him back. As he kissed her, a small voice in the back of his mind said, Thank the Moon. ********* Aaron sat on his bed, staring at the remote in his hand. He had to go back to Vega, but he couldn't just leave the Scouts and the Knights, not when they needed him. He sighed and placed the remote on the bed. There was a Scout meeting the next day, he would talk to them there. ********* "Case log number 253: My superiors have assigned me to the case that has become known as the Scout Case. The Chief knows I've been following this case unofficially since its beginning almost a year ago, so I was the logical choice for this assignment. My task is to locate and bring to justice the vigilantes known as the Sailor Scouts. "The facts of the case are simple. About one year ago, the first of the female vigilantes appeared in connection to a jewelry store where a good number of people vanished. At first, it was thought that this vigilante was responsible for the disappearances, but that theory was dismissed after the victims reported they had been kidnapped by someone impersonating the owner of the store. "Since six more female vigilantes and six male vigilantes have joined the first, bringing the total up thirteen. The most recent of the females appeared after an attack on the high school and the six male vigilantes appeared soon after. "About one week ago, a man by the name of Darien Shield was arrest for murder. In his apartment, a costume that looked like the uniform of the vigilante known as "Tuxedo Mask" was found. Mr. Shield then broke out of jail in the guise of "Tuxedo Mask". For now, the evidence points to Mr. Shields being "Tuxedo Mask". My first step in this investigation will be to talk Mr. Shield's friends and associates. Hopefully, they will be able to give me a lead on the other vigilantes." Detective Rich Chek clicked off his recorder, then placed it on his desk. Folding his hands on the desk, Detective Chek leaned back in his chair. Ever since he had started using the tape recorder to record his thoughts on a case, no case given to him had gone unsolved. He often wished that he had been using the recorder ten years ago when he joined the force. Detective Chek glanced down at the pictures of Mr. Shield's friends that littered his desk. Shifting through the pictures, he came to a picture of a young lady whose long, blond hair was tied up into two little balls atthe top of her head, then flowed into two long pigtails. The girl was Mr.Shield's girlfriend, Serena. His instincts screamed out as he looked at the picture. He would talk to her first. His instincts were never wrong. ********* Savior sat back in his chair, rolling his staff in his hand. Things were not going exactly as he planned, but they were going well enough. Soon, not only would he have killed the Sailor Scouts of this world, but he would have help for all eternity. Andrew would not have been his first choice, but with the right amount of coaching from Zoycite, Andrew would be exactly what he needed. AUTHOR'S NOTES Next Stories Well, I hope you enjoyed this story, I know I enjoyed writing it. The next part of the Savior Saga, as I have named this series of stories, will be split into three stories. The first of these stories will deal with Frank, Angie, Chad, Raye, Greg, and Amy as they search for the "Sword of the King". They search will take from Japan to the United States of America in Moon over America. The second story will revolve around Aaron, Krista, Neflite, and Molly(yes, that's right, Molly gonna get her kicks in) and their fight to retake the throne of Vega in Moon War. The final of the three stories will have Serena, Darien, Mina, Andrew, Lita, and Ken as the main players as they meet Serena's elusive father and get caught in the crossfire between Savior and Rebeus in Death Moon.
