Nothing More by: [<>]Little Ru[<>] email: matron_hotaru@hotmail.com, Rating: G *PrefNote* This poem is mine but, of course, I've been inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem "The Raven". "Nothing More" is dedicated to 'Moon Star', who was real nice and put up my last poem "Essentials" on her site. Thanks a whole bunch!!! [<>]Little Ru[<>] ------------------------------------------------------- Nothing clouds the young one's mind, Her thoughts are clear as glass, Compassion, here, impossible to find, All things that come must pass. What does the future hold in store? Quoth Hotaru, "Nothing more." Beauty's spell does ruin itself before the eyes of change, Love and honour must sever their bond, Making goals seem out of range; Of this, is death truly fond? Will worrysome thoughts rot the human core? Quoth Hotaru, "Nothing more." Death is not what all men fear, It is, instead, the stroke of Death, The old shudder when they feel it near, Thus none can help but hold their breath. Once the end has passed, what's beyond the door? Quoth Hotaru, "Nothing more." Duty ties the purple firefly to her ghastly work, And, to this, none can disagree, That even as some recieve the gift of the stork, Others cease to be. Is it a young lady I see on the darkness' bleak shore? Qhoth Hotaru, "Nothing more." As long as Time weaves her endles web, As long as Life continues to breed, As long as Vice & Virue's currents continue to ebb, Death will live on, as will her greed. Is a futile cycle what we all live for? Qhoth Hotaru, "Nothing More."
