Many Happy Returns Chapter 1 Alan and Anne drifted through the endless reaches of space with the seedling of the reborn Tree. They spent their time playing cards, listening to the beautiful music of Alan's flute, and basking in their love for each other. After a while though, Anne began each day by staring out of their enclosed bubble to the stars beyond. "Anne," Alan said, after five days of waking to find Anne staring, "are you alright?" Anne sighed deeply. "Do you think we'll ever find a source of love to restore the Tree?" she asked, countering Alan's question. Before Alan could answer, both felt something tug at them. "Did you feel that, Alan?" Anne asked, excitement creeping into her voice. "It was pure love," Alan said, his voice barely above a whisper. "But it's fading..." "We have to collect the energy for the tree," Anne said, "but how?" "The only way we know, my sweet," Alan said. With a flick of his wrist A lan produced a multitude of white cards. "Pick cardian, Anne. Any cardian" Anne pointed at one of the cards in Alan's hand, making it float in the air before them. Bringing his flute to his lips, Alan played the tune that brought all cardians to life. The card glowed brightly, then a woman dressed in light blue robes with green hair and a peaceful face appeared. " I am Forseti, cardian of healing and peace," the woman said, "What is it you wish of me?" "Bring the love that surrounds us together and restore it to life," Alan said, "Love this strong should never die." The Cardian spread out its hands and webs of bright light shot out of its fingertips. The webbing began collecting the love energy and pulling it together into a vaguely familiar form. "Alan, the energy's becoming a human," Anne said, shocked, "And it looks like..." "It can't be," Alan muttered, not listening. "It can't be." The figure formed into a solid being with long red hair and a grey uniform. The figure opened his eyes and let his gaze drift to the stars as he said, "The stars know everything..." ************ Molly slept restlessly that night. Her dreams were litter with the events of year ago. Unconsciously, she muttered the words she had said then. " No," she muttered, "Don't go, Neflite. We'll get a doctor and everything will be alright. Hang on, Neflite. I don't want you to go. Don't leave me, Neflite. Noooo!" Molly sat bolt up in her bed, the events of past coming to full bear in her mind. Overwhelmed by emotion, Molly pulled her knees up to her chest, wrapped her arms around them, and began to cry. ************ The fools. They have no idea what they have allowed. Quickly, my generals, before the rift between life and death repairs itself, go and be my champions. ************ On the dark side of the moon, a solitary dark figure slowly stirred to life. "Queen Serenity..." The figure rasped, looking at the ruins of the Moon Kingdom, "Where are you?" As the devastation of the Kingdom sunk in, the figure said, "Who did this? Who destroyed my home?" His question went no where in the deadness of space, but it did not matter to the figure. He had the answer for his question. "The Negaverse," the figure growled, his eyes burning with hate, "The Negaverse did this... and they will pay." The figure looked to the stars and said, "I am weak from my imprisonment and need time and energy in order to regainmy strength. To get the energy I will need help. Scorpio, scorpion of the stars, serve me!" The stars in the sky blurred for an instant, then, in a blinding flash o= f light, a scorpion about ten feet tall, tail included, appeared in front= of the figure. "Go, Scorpio, gather energy for me from the earth," the figure said, "And then I, the Eye of the Heaven, will destroy the Negaverse." ************ "Sir?" The young man swiveled his chair around to face an older, bald, muscular man with hawk-like features. The young man was dressed in red armor similar to the armor that Prince Darien wore. His hair was black and his eyes= were a deep brown. "What is it, James?" the young man asked. The older man, James, bowed slightly at being address, then said, "I have news, sir. Adam has returned." "My brother...?," the young man whispered, unable to believe his ears. "Yes, sir," James said, "we are unsure at this time how he did so. And unfortunately, he has become mentally unstable." "Wonderful," the young man said, placing his head in his hands. "Also, Neflite, one of the four generals, has returned to life. Though, he has apparently severed his connection with the Negaverse," James continued. "What's so bad about that?" the young man asked. "The other three generals have also returned, using the rift that Neflite's resurrection left," James answered. "Anything else I should know?" the young man asked, sarcastically. "Yes,sir, there is," James responded wearily, "As you know, one cannot return from the dead without a slight change occurring." "Yes, yes, I know," the young man said, waving his hand to hurry James up. "Well, sir, the generals have each had their powers changed. Drastically," James said, "And our systems have been unable to pinpoint the change as of yet." The young man stood and sighed. "It looks as though Centurion Alpha must return to active duty, doesn't it, James?" he said, wearily. "Yes, Sir Thomas," James responded. "It appears you must." Chapter 2 Molly watched sadly as Serena devoured her own lunch and the lunches of those around her. Molly had reluctantly agreed to eat lunch with Lita, Amy, and Serena, even though she wasn't hungry and she would have rather been alone. "Hey, Lita," Serena mumbled between bites, "Do you have any squid on a stick today?" Lita laughed as she said, "Not today, Serena, but if you keep eating those things you're going to grow another pair of arms." Molly sighed as Serena paused to considered what Lita said. Molly's waking moments so far today had been filled with more pain than her dreams the night before. "If you're still hungry, Serena, you can have my lunch," Molly said, her voice barely rising above a whisper. "Really!" Serena exclaimed, looking excitedly at Molly. Then her face clouded with worry as what Molly said sunk in. "Wait a minute, are you ok?" "It's nothing," Molly responded, standing, "Nothing at all." With that, Molly turned and walked away from the trio. Serena moved to follow, but Amy grabbed her arm and said, "Serena, wait. Remember what happened a year ago?" Serena stopped, then nodded. "Neflite," she said. "Of course." Lita started to say something than noticed a girl with brown hair that reached to her shoulders and brown eyes looking for a place to sit. "Who's that?" Lita asked, pointing. "She's the new student. I think her name is Angela," Amy replied, "Do want to invite her to sit down?" "Sure, why not?" Serena said, still looking in the direction that Molly = had run off in. "Angela!" Lita called the new girl's name and waved her hand. "Come sit with us." The girl slowly moved to them and said, "Are you sure you want me to sit here?" "Sure, why not?" Lita said. "You don't have some contiguous disease, do you Angela?" Angela smiled slightly and said, "No. And please call me Angie." Angie sat down and introductions were made as Serena still stared after Molly. Gee, I hope she's alright, Serena thought, She seemed awfully upset. ************ The three generals looked around. "Where are we?" Jedite asked. "We're in the old church that Neflite used as a hide-out when he was Queen Beryl's head general," Zoycite said. "So what do we do now?" Malachite asked, facing his companions. "Well, there are several matters we need to address," Jedite said. "We know what happens when we try to face the Sailor Scouts one at a time. I think we should combine our powers and take them out together." Zoycite smiled. "I like that," she said, "but we are missing one of our number." Malachite nodded in agreement. "Neflite." "We shall get him to rejoin our forces," Jedite said, "We know his weakness is the human girl named Molly. If we can exploit this weakness, he will be one of us once more." "Now, the final matter we must address," Malachite said. "That is?" Zoycite asked. "We seem to have new powers," Malachite said, holding up his hand. Instantly a ball of fire appeared in his palm. The fire changed to dirt, from dirt to water, then to a cloud. "I seem to have the power of the elements of this world." Zoycite frowned and pointed her hand at a wall. Black lightning leaped from her fingertips and struck the wall, leaving a blacken mark. "And I apparently have the power of lightning," she said in shock. The two generals looked at Jedite as he stared straight ahead. Finally, he looked at them and said, "My powers are now bounded only by the limits of my thoughts." Laughter echoed through the empty church as the generals anticipated their battle with the Sailor Scouts. ************ The Eye of the Heaven gazed at the ruins of the Moon Kingdom. "I knew th= e battle was fierce, but I never expected anything like this," he said. He could remember the time before this devastation. The Moon Games, his meeting with Queen Serenity, his crowning as the Eye of the Heaven, his downfall, and his brother's betrayal. He shook his head. Those events were in the past and as dead as the Moon Kingdom. "I will avenge those who fell protecting the Moon Kingdom," the Eye of the Heaven said. With a flash of red light, the Eye of the Heaven vanished from the surface of the moon. ************ Centurion Alpha and James appeared on the moon, seconds after the Eye of the Heaven vanished. Centurion had changed from his red armor into a black shirt, black pants, and a black cloak. At his side hung his longsword and under his cloak was his shield. "We must have missed him," Centurion said, his brown eyes searching for his brother. James was silent as Centurion sat down on the ruins of the Moon Kingdom. "How did he get out, James?" he demanded, "Even after I returned I was unable to open his prison since I didn't have the votes of the other Knights." "I don't know, sir," James responded, standing stiffly. Centurion sighed and looked towards the stars as his mind drifted back to the past. ************ It was a month after the Moon Games, the day of the Crowning Ceremony. "No matter who gets crowned today, I'm proud of you, brother," Sir Thomas said. Adam glanced at his brother and said, "Thank you, Thomas. That is great praise coming from you." Sir Thomas failed to hear the taint of sarcasm in Adam's voice. Sir Thomas was dressed in his golden Lord of the Sun armor, the Sun Ring on the ring finger of his right hand. Adam was dressed in the black uniform of a Moon Games athlete. Together, Sir Thomas and Adam strode into the garden where Sir Thomas's wife, the Lady Milinda, waited for them, dressed in her red Knight of the Sun armor. "Why don't the two of you look handsome," Milinda said. "And you, my dear, look as gorgeous as ever," Sir Thomas said, kissing his wife. Outside, Adam smiled at his brother's happiness, but on the inside, his soul burned with jealousy. "We should be getting to the Ceremony," Adam said, his sickeningly sweet, "After all, if I win, I don't want to be late" The trio laughed and immediately went to the Great Hall, where Queen Serenity was going to name the Eye of the Heaven, the winner of the Moon Games. Once inside, Adam took his place with the other contenders of the Moon Games, while Milinda took her place by the door and Sir Thomas took his spot on the Royal Dais, next to Queen Serenity and her daughter, Princess Serena. The Great Hall was packed with spectators of the Moon Games. On this day, the overall winner was announced and later tonight a banquet was held in his, or her, honor. It was an event that no one missed. The Queen stood and the crowd held its breath in anticipation. "Before I announce the winner of this year's Moon Games and crown that contender the Eye of the Heaven, I wish to congratulate all of the contenders for their efforts," Queen Serenity said, "You have shown that through hard work and preservation, anything can be done. "Now the winner of the Moon Games and the Eye of the Heaven for the next ten years is... Adam of Earth, brother to Sir Thomas, Lord of the Sun!" The crowd burst into applause as Adam left his spot with the contenders and moved forward to the Royal Dais. Sir Thomas's eyes were filled with p= ride as Adam fell to one knee in front of the Queen. "Now, Adam of Earth," Queen Serenity said, placing her hand on his shoulder, "I name you the Eye of the Heaven." Instantly, Adam's black uniform changed color to white and a long white cape appeared behind him. "Stand," Queen Serenity ordered, "and receive the cheers you so richly deserve." Adam, the Eye of the Heaven, stood and raised his hands in victory. Chapter 3 Molly sat down at one of the of the many tables in The Max, a new restaurant, with a chocolate parfait. She was so lost in thought that she failed to notice Serena come up behind her. "Are you alright?" Serena asked, placing her hand lightly on Molly's shoulder. "I'll be..." Molly started just before the tears came unbidden. Serena sat down next to Molly and said, "I know this hard for you, but I wanted you to know that I'll always be hear if you need me." Molly sniffed and said, "Thanks, Serena, you're a real friend." Just then a man in a long grey overcoat and matching fedora walked over to the table. "Do you mind if I join you?" he asked. Without looking at him, Serena said, "We'd like to be alone right now." "Please, I would really like to sit with you," the man insisted, "You see, I am on holiday." Molly looked up at the man, her eyes wide. "What did you say?" she managed. The man sat down across from Molly and Serena, placing a chocolate parfait in front of him. "I'm on a holiday," the man repeated, "and I was hoping I could share a chocolate parfait with an old friend. Molly and Serena both stared as the man removed his hat to reveal his face. "I think I gonna keel over," Molly said, just before she fainted. "Neflite!" Serena gasped. ************ The generals watched Neflite, Molly, and Serena through a pool of water. The generals had already explore their new-found powers. By combining, M alachite's power over the elements with Jedite's powers of thought, they had managed to create a type of spying device. Zoycite had found that she could control all types of electric currents. Jedite and Zoycite had abandoned their dull grey uniforms which marked them as the generals of Beryl. Zoycite now wore a long, sleeveless, black dress that started at her neck and ran all the way to her ankles and a pair of high heel black shoes. Jedite had donned a completely black outfit with a long black cape which swirled around his feet. Malachite though had opted to stay with the uniform, considering it a reminder of their past failures. Still watching the images on the water, Jedite said, "Ah, isn't it sweet." Every word was rich with sarcasm. "What do we do if he comes back here?" Zoycite asked. "We deal with him and his girlfriend," Malachite answered, a slight smile coming to his face. Jedite laughed. "You two have no sense of imagination," he said, "We'll deal with in ways you would never expect." ************ Lita, Amy, and Angie laughed. "You have to meet Mina and Raye," Lita said, "You'd love them." Angie smiled. "I glad I meet you guys," she said, "it's so difficult being the new kid in school." Before either Lita and Amy could answer, a scream pierced the air. "What was that?" Amy asked, looking in the direction of the park. "I don't know," Lita answered, unsure of what to do with Angie around. "It came from over there," Angie said, pointing. "Let's go!" Without waiting to see if Lita or Amy were following, Angie took off in the direction of the scream. Lita moved to follow, but Amy grabbed her arm. "What are you doing?" Lita demanded, shaking her arm free of Amy. "We have to transform," Amy said, "If we do we can get there before Angie." Lita nodded in agreement. The two of them raised their hands in the air and immediately their transformation wands appeared in their hands. "Jupiter Star Power!" Lita yelled. "Mercury Star Power!" Amy shouted. In a burst of lightning and water, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter appeared. The two took off running towards the park, hoping to beat Angie there. ************ Angie ran into the park and looked around. Light flashed from somewhere near the center of the park, so she started walking towards it, cautiously. Suddenly, a yellow cat jumped out of the bushes, landing squarely in front of Angie. Angie yelled in surprise, then started to laugh. "It's just a cat," she said, sighing in relief. The cat hissed at Angie, baring its teeth has it stalked closer. Angie backed away from the cat and said, "Wonderful. A psycho cat." The yellow cat leaped forward, snarling. Angie yelled again, this time in terror, and ran from the cat. She ran without looking back, the cat hot= on her heels, until she exited the park. "Thank goodness," the yellow cat muttered, coming to a stop and watching Angie run, "I can't let her get hurt." ************ After a few minutes of running, the duo found themselves in the park. The sun was setting in the background, giving an eerie light to the scene before the two Scouts. People littered the ground, alive but drained of energy. Sailor Mercury tapped the side of her tiara, calling her visor into existence. "What ever did this isn't from the Negaverse," she said, looking around. Sailor Jupiter looked at her. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Absolutely," Sailor Mercury responded. "The readings are totally different from the way the Negaverse drains energy." Sailor Jupiter looked to her left and said, "I think I've found it." Sailor Mercury followed Sailor Jupiter's gaze and saw a large scorpion sucking the energy from a young couple. "We have to stop it!" Sailor Mercury shouted, dismissing her visor. "On it," Sailor Jupiter said, crossing her arms. "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" Lightning leaped from Sailor Jupiter's hands and struck the scorpion, sending it flying away from the people. "That should take care of it," Sailor Jupiter said, dusting off her hands. "It didn't," Sailor Mercury said flatly, pointing. Sailor Jupiter looked in amazement as the scorpion clambered to its feet and started to charge them. "Alright," Sailor Jupiter said, crossing her arms again. "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" Once more, lightning from Sailor Jupiter's out-stretched arms struck the scorpion, only this time, the blast had no effect. "Mercury,"Sailor Jupiter said, "You might want to call the other Scouts. I think we're in trouble." ************ Centurion stood up, shaking off the memories of the past. "I have to find him," he said to James. "I know, sir," James replied. "Ok, here's how we'll work it," Centurion said, "You go back to the station and see if you can locate him. I'll stay here and look around to see if he left a clue to where he went." James nodded, then pulled out a small round disk and pushed a button on it. Light surrounded him for a moment, then he vanished, leaving Centurion to his thoughts. Why does everything have to come back at once? Centurion wondered to himself. Nothing ever seems to happen one thing at a time. Even death comes in a multitude. As he started to search the ruins, his mind drifted back to what once was... ************ "Congratulations, Adam," Sir Thomas said, throwing his arms around his brother. Adam hugged Sir Thomas back as he said, "Thank you. I still can't believe I won." The ceremony was over and it was the first moment the two brothers had alone. They were getting ready to attend the Crowning Banquet, which honored the winner of the Moon Games. Laughing, Sir Thomas said, "Adam of Earth, you just won the title Eye of the Heaven, what are you going to do now?" Adam puffed out his chest and said, "I'm gonna get me a woman and settle down, Thomas, that's what I'm gonna do." The brothers laughed. "May you succeed in your dream," Sir Thomas said, "and may you find the happiness that I have." The two quickly finished getting dressed, then looked in the mirror. Sir Thomas was dressed in a golden tuxedo with a gold cape that swirled around him. Adam was dressed in basically the same thing, except his was white, the color of the Eye of the Heaven, instead of the gold of the Lord of the Sun. "Are you ready to be honored as you've never been honored before?" Sir Thomas asked. "Yes," Adam replied, "I believe I am." Chapter 4 "Neflite," Serena whispered again, "But... you're dead." Neflite smiled warmly as he lifted Molly's limp form from the seat. "I was, Serena," he said, "until I found myself with pair named Alan and Anne." As they left the restaurant, Neflite recounted his meeting with Alan and Anne, leaving Serena speechless for the first time in her life. When he finished, Neflite leaned forward and kissed Molly lightly on the forehead. A smile lit her face as her eyes fluttered open. "Serena," she muttered, "I had the most wonderful dream..." Her voice trailed off as she found herself looking into Neflite's eyes. She opened her mouth to say something, then fainted away again. "I guess this must be a bit too much for her," Neflite chuckled. Before Serena could answer, her Scout Communicator went off. For a moment, she was unsure of what to do, then Neflite smiled and said, "I'll take her home while you help your friends. Sailor Moon." Serena smiled at him as he vanished from sight. Pulling out her locket, she shouted, "Moon Crystal Power!" In an burst of feathers and ribbon, Serena transformed into Sailor Moon. "Now to help my friends," Sailor Moon said as she glanced at her communicator. * *********** The battle was not going well for Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter. Everything they threw at the scorpion would work once, but it would shake off the effects, then was immune to the attack. At this point, the scorpion had the two Scouts on the run. "What do we do now?" Sailor Jupiter said, pausing to gasp for breath. Sailor Mercury summoned her visor again and quickly examined the scorpion as it paused in its pursuit. "I can't find any weaknesses," Sailor Mercury said, worry obvious in her voice. "Maybe we can find one," a voice from behind them said. Sailor Mercury glanced over her shoulder and smiled at the sight of Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus, and Sailor Moon. "Thank goodness you're here," Sailor Mercury said. Sailor Venus looked at the scorpion as it shuffled back and forth. "What is that thing?" she said. "A bug," Sailor Mars said, "and you know what you do to bugs." "Squash them!" Sailor Jupiter said. The scorpion moved forward slightly and fired a blast of energy out of its tail at the Scouts, scattering them. "That thing is definitely not fri= endly," Sailor Moon said under her breath. "I have an idea," Sailor Mercury called out, "if we combine our attacks on the creature, it may be enough to defeat it." "Right," the other Scouts called back. Sailor Mars gripped her hands together and said, "Mars Fireball Ignite! "Sailor Venus pointed her finger at the scorpion and said, "Venus Crescent Beam Smash!" Sailor Jupiter crossed her arms and said, "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" Sailor Mercury placed her hands about six inches apart and said, "Mercury Ice Bubble Freeze!" Sailor Moon whipped out her scepter, pointed it at the creature, and said, "Moon Scepter Elimination!" The five attacks hit the scorpion simultaneously, causing it to roar in pain and vanish from sight. "What have you done?" a voice said from above them a split second after the scorpion had vanished. Looking to the sky, the Scouts saw a hovering figure covered from head to toe in black. He wore a long cloak with the cowl pulled up and a mouth mask that covered all of his features except for two glowing red eyes. "You managed to destroy my creature before I was able to take the energy from it," the figure said, "for that you must be punished." "Wait," Sailor Moon said, "Who are you?" "My name is of no consequence, but if you survive, you may call me the Eye of the Heaven," the figure said. "Now. Heavenly Star Annihilation!" A blast of pure energy slammed into the ground, which exploded with energy sending the Scouts flying. "Good-bye," the figure said as he vanished. Sailor Moon pushed herself into a sitting position. "I think we're in trouble," she said to the other Scouts as they all got to their feet. ************ Light years away in a space station similar to the one that Centurion Alpha and James resided on, a young woman gazed dreamily out of a large window to the stars beyond. Her hair was black and came down to her waist. She was dressed in a purple gown, which ran out behind her. A beep from behind the woman brought her out of her dreamy state and back to reality. Turning, she saw that the small communication crystal that she had kept from the days of the Moon Kingdom was glowing softly. The young woman moved with grace over to the crystal and placed both of her hands on it. Instantly the air above the crystal was filled with a hologram of a yellow cat with a small symbol of the moon on its forehead. "Lunamis !" the young woman cried in surprised delight. "Hello, Princess Krista," the yellow cat responded, "I am glad to see that you kept your communication crystal." "Of course I kept it," Krista said, "How are you?" "I'm fine, but I don't have time for pleasantries, Princess," Lunamis said, "Adam has escaped from his dimensional prison." Krista was silent for a moment, then asked, "How close is he to my sister?" "Any closer today, he would have tripped over her," Lunamis replied. "We have to get my sister to safety," Krista said, "I'm coming to Earth." "Bring Sir Aaron with you," Lunamis said, "I have the feeling this is going to be a lot tougher than we think." Krista nodded and removed her hands from the crystal, letting Lunamis's image vanish. Setting a determined look on her face, Krista wrapped her hand around a purple, heart shaped amulet that hung around her neck and yelled, "Vega Star Power!" A bright purple heart shot from amulet, then backtracked, surrounding Krista in purplish light and transforming her into Sailor Vega. Pushing her now purple hair out of her face, Sailor Vega wrote a quick note to Sir Aaron, telling him where she was going, and headed for the transporter, her mind slow going back to the past. ************ The Crowning Banquet was in full swing. Adam had been officially crowned the Eye of the Heaven and now everyone was dancing. The Knights of the Sun stood guard all around the room, even through their presence was merely for show.Princess Krista of the Sun yawned boredom. The banquet was the same as every other that the Queen threw, something that Krista had never enjoyed. She couldn't wait to go on her diplomatic mission to the Nord Universe. New places to go, new people to meet, she could barely contain her excitement. She only wished that Sun Lord Thomas hadn't insisted that Sir Aaron of Vega go with her. The guy was a complete bore. Krista glanced about for her sister, finally locating by the punch bowl, surrounded by suitors as usual. Krista sighed, wishing that her sister would pick someone to marry before she drove everyone insane. Looking back at the dance floor, Krista noted that Adam, the newly crowned Eye of the Heaven, was heading for her sister. This should be interesting, Krista thought as she moved within hearing range of her sister and her suitors. Adam pushed his way through the group, placing himself right in front of Krista's sister. He stood there for a moment, swaying slightly, indicating that he was drunk. This should be good,Krista thought, smiling, my sister hates drunks. "Would you care to dance?" Adam asked. "No, thank you," Krista's sister replied, turning her attention to a suitor. "Maybe you arrived late," Adam said, smiling disarmingly, "I am the Eye of the Heaven. You should be begging me to dance with you." Krista's sister turned and looked at Adam as through he had sprouted a second head. "I wouldn't care if you were Prince Darien himself," she snapped, "I wouldn't beg you to dance." With that, she turned on her heel and walked away. But Adam didn't let up. Moving forward, he grabbed her arm and said, "You will dance with me." Krista's sister turned in his grip and slapped Adam across the face. "Let go of me," she ordered. Krista started towards the duo, intent on putting a stop to the scene. Before she could reach them, Adam, anger blazing in his eyes, backhanded her sister and said, "You little witch!" Krista's sister tried to pull away, but Adam held her in a grip of iron and slapped her again. "Don't you ever slap me!" Adam screamed. Krista increase her pace to get to her sister, pushing her way through the crowd that had formed. Suddenly, a flash of gold flew over the crowd and tackled Adam, bringing him to the ground. Everyone stared as Adam, the Eye of the Heaven, and Sir Thomas, the Lord of the Sun, got to their feet to face each other. Chapter 5 "Sir?" Centurion snapped out of the past and pulled out his comm link to the space station. "What's up, James?" he said. "Two things, sir," James replied. "I have located your brother. He is currently in Tokyo and has just attacked the Sailor Scouts." "Wonderful," Centurion muttered. "What's the other thing?" "A cat named Lunamis sent a coded transmission via a communications crystal," James said, "I intercepted it and decoded it." "Who was it to?" Centurion asked. "Princess Krista of the Sun and Sir Aaron of Vega," James responded. "They're still alive?" Centurion said. He then nodded. "Of course, they're alive. They left for the Nord Universe right before the attack on the Moon Kingdom." "Correct, sir," James said, "And since for every year spent in the Nord Universe is equal to a thousand years here, they must have come back just as the Scouts were being reborn." "What was the message about?" Centurion asked. "Apparently, your brother came very close today to seeing Princess Krista's sister," James said. Centurion frowned. He remembered what happened the first time his brother and Princess Krista's sister meet. "James," he said, "here's what I want you to do. Beam me directly to the Scouts current position and find Princess Krista's sister. We have to get her out of there." "Very good, sir," James said, "Signing off." Centurion went into the military at-ease stance as a dull light surrounded him and he vanished from the moon's surface. ************ Molly opened her eyes. She was in her bed with the curtains pulled shut. Sitting up in bed, she said, "It was a dream." Her lower lip started to = tremble. "It was only a dream." "Molly," a voice said from behind her curtain, "you're awake!" The curtain was shoved aside to reveal Neflite. He was dressed in loafer= s, blue jeans, a red shirt, and light weight, blue coat. "Hello," he said, smiling. Molly opened her mouth twice, but no sound came out. Finally, she gave up trying to say something and threw her arms around Neflite, hugging him. "You're alive," she said. "Yes, I am," he replied, hugging her back. "But how?" she asked, pulling out of their embrace. "Come with me," Neflite said, "and I'll tell you." ************ "And that's how I came back," Neflite said, looking down at Molly. Molly held onto to Neflite's arm with both hands as she said, "I'm so glad you're back." Neflite paused, then kissed Molly on the forehead. "So am I," he said. Turning left, the couple entered the park. After going only a few steps, a voice, "Hello... Maxfield." Neflite and Molly turned to see Darien, Serena's boyfriend, leaning on a tree. Usually, the sight of Darien perked Molly up, but for some reason, his presence tonight made her incredibly nervous. Neflite smiled at Darien as he said, "Hello, Darien." "I didn't know you were back in town," Darien walking towards Neflite. "I just got in," Neflite responded, "courtesy of some acquaintances of ours, Alan and Anne." "I see you're stilling dealing with that company," Darien said, stopping a few feet in front of Neflite. "No," Neflite said, putting his arm around Molly, "this was a complete surprise. I abandoned that company for something a lot better." Darien suddenly smiled and extended his hand. "It's good to see you, Maxfield," he said. "And it's good to see you," Neflite said, shaking Darien's extended hand. ************ Luna and Artemis came bounding up to the Scouts as they dusted themselves off. "Who was that?" Luna demanded. "I don't know," Sailor Mars answered, "I've never seen him before." "He called himself the Eye of the Heaven," Sailor Venus said. "The Eye of the Heaven," mused Artemis, "I've never heard of a Negaverse minion named that." "He's not from the Negaverse," Sailor Mercury piped up. The Scouts all glanced at her in confusion. "What do you mean?" Sailor Moon asked. "The readings of the people the scorpion drained were all wrong for a Negaverse monster," Sailor Mercury explained. "Then who was he? And where did he come from?" Sailor Jupiter demanded. Before anyone could respond, there was a flash of dull light and a man dressed in completely in black appeared. "It's him!" Sailor Venus shouted, "Get him!" ************ Centurion looked around, confused. He had appeared in a park to talk with the Scouts, but as soon as he appeared one of them, Sailor Venus, said, "It's him! Get him!" Shock hit him as he realized what was happening. They thought he was his brother. "Wait, I'm not..." he started. But the Scouts weren't listening. Moving carefully, they began to circle him. His warrior instincts kicked in as he backed away from them, preventing them from completing the circle. Reaching underneath his cloak, Centurion pulled out his shield as Sailor Mars clapped her hands together and said, "Mars Fire Ignite!" A fireball shot from her hands at Centurion, who leaped nimbly out of its path. Sailor Venus pointed her hand at him andsaid, "Venus Crescent Beam Smash!" Centurion spun to face Sailor Venus, holding his shield in front of him and bracing himself. The beam struck the shield and reflected into Sailor Mars, knocking her off her feet. Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury leape= d into the air, landing ten feet to either side of him. "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" Sailor Jupiter yelled, pushing her arms towards him. "Mercury Ice Bubble Freeze!" Sailor Mercury shouted, throwing out her arms out. Centurion leaped into the air over the two blasts, which continued on towards the Scouts. "Scouts, look out!" Luna cried. ************ "Scouts, look out!" Darien and Neflite both looked towards the center of the park, then at each other. "I'll check it out," Darien said, running off. Neflite turned and tilted Molly's face to look up at him. "Go home, Molly," he said, "I have to help the Scouts." "I'm not going," Molly said. "I don't want you to get hurt," Neflite said. "I'm going with you," Molly said, stubbornly, "I'm not letting you out of my sight." Neflite glanced over his shoulder, then back at Molly. "Alright," he said, "let's go." ************ Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter dove aside as their attacks past over their heads. "Man, he's good," Sailor Moon said. Centurion turned and charged SailorMoon, hoping to get to her before the Scouts could regain themselves. He got within ten feet of her, when a red rose sliced through the air in front of him and imbedded in the ground in front of him. He glanced up, already knowing who had thrown the rose. Standing on a tree limb above him was Tuxedo Mask. "Now, Neflite!" Tuxedo Mask yelled. Centurion glanced back at Sailor Moon to see Neflite pointing his hand at him. A blast of white energy leapt from Neflite's hand and hit Centurion squarely in the chest, sending him sprawling to ground. "Hit him, Scouts!" Artemis ordered as the Scouts stood. The four Scouts immediately launched into their attacks as Centurion struggled to his feet. "Jupiter Thunder Crash!" "Mars Firebird Strike!" "Venus Crescent Beam Smash!" "Mercury Ice Bubble Freeze!" The four attacks hit Centurion simultaneously throwing him back to the ground. He moaned and pushed himself to his feet with his remaining strength. He looked at Sailor Moon as she stepped in his line of sight. "Sailor Moon! Your tiara!" he heard Luna cry. "Moon..." Centurion watched as Sailor Moon pulled off her tiara and began spinning around with it. "...Tiara..." Centurion suddenly stood up straight and shrugged his cape back, ready to perform a feat that only a Knight of the Sun could accomplish. "...Magic!" The tiara left Sailor Moon's hand and sped straight at Centurion, becoming a blur of energy. Centurion counted to three, then pivoted on his right foot. Stretching out his right hand, Centurion grabbed the tiara out of the air and came to a stop facing Sailor Moon. Before anyone could react to what he had done, Centurion dropped the tiara on the ground in front of him, pulled out his sword, reversed itso the blade pointed at the gro und, and said, "I, Centurion Alpha, swear, by my blade and by my honor as a Knight of the Sun, to protect the Princess Serena of the Moon Kingdom, the Prince Darien of the Earth, and all those who follow their cause, placing their lives above even my own. So the pledge is spoken and so it shall be forged!" With that, Centurion plunged his sword into the center of the tiara. Energy leaped from the tiara to the sword, running up and down the blade. Pulling his sword out of the ground and sheathing it, Centurion picked up the tiara. Moving slowly, Centurion approached Sailor Moon, keeping his hands where they could be seen. Upon reaching Sailor Moon, Centurion dropped to one knee, bowed his head, and lifted the tiara with both hands to Sailor Moon. Cautiously, Sailor Moon took the tiara from Centurion and placed back on her head. "A Knight of the Sun?" Luna said, padding up to him, "I didn't think you existed any more." "I am one of the last of a dying order, Luna," Centurion said, standing. "What do you want?" Tuxedo Mask asked. "I wanted to tell about the Eye of the Heaven, but the fight was too much out of me," Centurion said, pulling out a communicator. "Meet me at the temple tomorrow and I'll explain everything." Opening the communicator, Centurion said, "Get me out of here, James." In burst of dull light, Centurion vanished. ************ Centurion crumbled to the ground as soon as he appeared to on the space station. James hurried to his side and lifted him easily in his arms. "Hold on, sir," James said, "just hold on until we get to the medical center." ************ After agreeing that they'd all meet at the temple the next day after school and wait for Centurion, the Scouts, Tuxedo Mask, the cats, Neflite and Molly all went their separate ways. "Oh, you were so brave, Neflite," Molly said, hugging him. Neflite smiled down at her and said, "Thank you." The couple left the park and entered the dark streets of Tokyo. As they rounded a corner, Neflite came to a complete stop. "What's wrong?" Molly asked. "They're here," Neflite whispered, pulling Molly protectively towards him. "And you said you had cut off your dealings with us," a voice from behind them said. Neflite spun around, pushing Molly behind him, and came face to face with Jedite, Zoycite, and Malachite. "You," he spat. "That's right, Neflite," Zoycite said. "Thanks to you, Alan, and Anne, we were able to follow you back," Malachite said. "And now you are going to join us again," Jedite said. "Never!" Neflite screamed, in defiance. "Never is such a strong word," Jedite said with a wave of his hand. Molly screamed as she was lifted into the air. In a explosion of black light, Molly vanished from sight. Neflite screamed in anger and leaped at Jedite. "What did you do to her?" he screamed, grabbing Jedite by the scruff of his shirt. Jedite smiled. "Do you know what a dimension prison is?" he asked. Neflite released Jedite's shirt and back away from the generals shaking his head. "Now," Malachite said, "as we were saying. You will join us." Neflite looked at his new and former companions, defeat dominating his eyes. ************ Sir Aaron entered the communications room of the space station. "Love?" he called, searching for Princess Krista. A piece of paper near the communication crystal caught his attention. Walking over, Centurion picked up the paper and read the hastily scrawled note. "Adam..." he muttered. Throwing the note to the ground, Sir Aaron headed for the transporter to follow his wife, his mind racing back to the night of the Ceremony and the beginning of the end. ************ The Great Hall fell in silence as all eyes focused on Sir Thomas and Adam. Princess Krista ran over to her sister and together they moved away from the brothers, who just stood there, staring at each other. Finally, Adam said, "This doesn't concern you, brother." "You have assaulted a subject of the Moon Kingdom, brother, that makes it my concern," Sir Thomas snapped back. "Don't give me your crap!" Adam screamed. "All you've ever cared about is yourself!" "What...?" Sir Thomas said, confused. His brother was more drunk than he thought. "Everything you have should have been mine!" Adam screamed. "EVERYTHING!= " "Adam, calm down. Everything's going to be alright," Sir Thomas said, trying to calm his brother. "Damn you," Adam said, raising his hands. "Heavenly Star Blast!" A beam of energy lanced from Adam's hands and smash into Sir Thomas, knocking him. As he stood, Sir Thomas snapped his fingers three times. Insta= ntly, Adam was surrounded by Knights of the Sun. They knocked him over and pinned his arms to keep him from shooting off his energy blasts. "Are you alright, Sir Thomas?" Sir Aaron of Vega asked Sir Thomas nodded and walked over to his brother. Looking down on him, Sir Thomas said, "Adam, by the authority invested in me as the Sun Lord by Queen Serenity, I here by place you under arrest. Your trail will be held in two days time." With that, Sir Thomas turned and walked slowly away. The crowd parted to let him through as he left the Hall. Chapter 6 Centurion laid on his bed, drifting in and out of consciousness, as the medical robots attended to him. His mind wondered unchecked between the past and the present. "Fifty of the fifty-one Knights of the Sun have been polled, sir. Of those fifty, twenty-five think your brother should be punished for his crimes and the other twenty-five believe because of his title and the circumstances he should be pardoned," A voice in Centurion's mind said. "Who hasn't been polled yet?" he heard his own voice say. "You,sir," the reply came. One of the medical robots injected him with something and he surged forward in his memories. "The decision I have reached does not come easy to me. By the power and authority given to me as the Lord of the Sun by Queen Serenity, I, Sir Thomas of Earth, sentence the accused, Adam of Earth, also known as the Eye of the Heaven, to an undetermined about of time in a dimensional prison. So it said and so it shall be done." His body convulsed sending him a bit further into the future. "My own brother has betrayed me! Never shall I forget what has happened today, Thomas. And someday, I will have my revenge!" It had been his own brother, Adam, who had said those words the he was locked away. His mind leaped to the present as he heard James's words repeated: "Adam has returned. We are unsure at this time how he did so. He has become mentally unstable." His body burned with fever as the medical robots work furiously to heal him and his mind jaunted back in time once more. "Good-bye, my friend." His voice again. "Good-bye, Thomas. See you in a few years." It was Sir Aaron. He was leaving again. No, not again for the first time. With Princess Krista. "Take care of my sister, Sir Thomas. Watch over her." He heard Princess Krista's voice. His mind fast forwarded again as the robots activated another machine. "I know you loved your uncle and I wish you could grow up with your uncle around, Frank. I'm sorry." He was with his son. The day before the attack on the Moon Kingdom. "Sir!"Centurion Alpha sat bolt up in bed. The medical robots were gone and his body was healed, but his mind still carried the scars of the past. Looki ng to his left,Centurion saw James standing there. "What is it, James?" Centurion asked. "All hell's broke loose," James replied. ************ Luna and Artemis padded through the streets of Tokyo. It was early morning and they were unsure of where they should do. "I vaguely remember the name Eye of the Heaven," Artemis said. "I do, too," Luna said, "but I don't think it had anything to with the Negaverse." "It didn't," a voice from behind them said. Turning, the two cats found themselves face to face with a yellow cat with a symbol of a sun on its forehead. "My name is Lunamis," the cat said, "and we have a lot to discuss." ************ Serena ran into her school building, late as usual. "Oh! Why am I always late?!" she moaned as tore up the steps and into her classroom. "Good morning, Serena," Miss Haruna said, "Late as usual, I see." "Sorry, Miss Haruna," Serena mumbled, taking her seat next to Angie. As class started, Serena noticed that Molly was missing. She must be with Neflite, she thought. The day was rather boring until an hour before lunch... when the roof of Serena's classroom was blown off. Serena dove underneath her desk as the Eye of the Heaven floated into the classroom. "Where is she?" he screamed, floating above the students. Serena pulled out her communicator and activate it. Instantly the four scouts appeared on the monitor. "Hey, guys," Serena said, "the weirdo in the cloak and scarf is here." "Right," the Scouts replied, then vanished from the screen. Crawling on her hands and knees, Serena moved out of view of her classmates and said, "Moon Crystal Power!" The Imperial Crystal flared brightly and in a blast of feathers and ribbons, Serena was once more transformed into Sailor Moon. Leaping into view, Sailor Moon called out, "Hey, Nega-scum, looking for me?" The Eye of the Heaven looked at Sailor Moon and laughed. "No such luck,"he sneered, "I'm looking for the woman that ruined my life. Princess..." A spear flew through the air and slashed the Eye of the Heaven's shoulder, causing him to scream in pain. The spear then reversed its direction, heading back to its source. Following the spear, Sailor Moon saw a young woman dressed in a purple Sailor Scout uniform with long purple hair. "Who are you?" Sailor Moon demanded. "I am Sailor Vega," the woman said, "I thought you could use some help." Before Sailor Moon could answer, the Eye of the Heaven's hand flew up as he said, "Heavenly Star Beams!" Bright beams of light lashed out from each of his fingertips and wrapped around Sailor Vega and Sailor Moon, who both screamed in agony. In a quick motion, the Eye of the Heaven brought Sailor Vega right before him. "You're not her," he muttered, "you're her sister!" "Very good, Adam," Sailor Vega managed through gritted teeth. Suddenly, something slammed into the back of Adam's head. Releasing Sailor Moon and Sailor Vega, he turned to see Miss Haruna standing with a lamp in her hands. "Leave them alone," she ordered, her fear pushed back by sheer force of will. Adam laughed. "Very well then," he said, placing his palm on Miss Haruna's forehead. "Heavenly Star Blast." Energy blasted through Miss Haruna for a brief instant, then she fell lifelessly to the ground. "I can't believe you did that," a voice from behind him said. Turning, Adam found the rest of the Scouts helping Sailor Vega and Sailor Moon to their feet. "This ends now," Sailor Jupiter said, "Let's get him!" ************ "Do you feel that?" Jedite asked. "Yes," Malachite answered, "it felt like a large amount of energy being used at once." "Something with that much energy would be of use to the Negaverse," Zoycite said, "Don't you agree, Neflite?" Neflite nodded mutely, having not said a word since his 'recruitment'. Jedite laughed and said, "Let us go investigate this out-put of power." ************ "What's going on?" Centurion demanded as he pulled on his red battle armor. "Your brother has attacked the Princess's school and killed her teacher," James said, "Sailor Vega has arrived, the generals are on route to the school, I've located Princess Krista's sister, and I've picked up a transporter beam heading directly here." Centurion thought for a moment. "Intercept the transporter beam, so that it lands here," he said. "Prepare to beam me down to the Princess's sister and be ready to pull her back up." "Yes, sir," James said. "Let's do it,' Centurion said, moving to the transporter. ************ "Jupiter Thunderclap Crash!" shouted Sailor Jupiter. "Mercury Ice Storm Freeze!" Sailor Mercury cried. "Venus Love Chain Encircle!" roared Sailor Venus. "Mars Celestial Fire Encircle!" Sailor Mars yelled. "Vega Star Spear Attack!" bellowed Sailor Vega. "Moon Scepter Elimination!" Sailor Moon said. As the six attacks raced towards the Eye of the Heaven, he looked into the sky and said, "Draco, dragon of the stars, aid me!" Instantly, a large snake-like dragon appeared in front of the attacks and took the brunt of them. The Scouts scattered as the dragon breathed fire down on them. Angie watched from under her desk, wishing that she could help the Scouts in someway. Suddenly, Angie felt someone grab her arm and lift her roughly to her feet. "You!" Adam hissed, squeezing her arm. "Let me go!" Angie shouted, slapping Adam across the face with her free hand. Adam's eyes blazed with anger as he threw Angie across the room. Angie slammed against the wall and moaned in pain as Adam launched himself at her. Suddenly, Centurion appeared in front of Angie in a burst of dim light Adam stared in panic as Centurion set his feet and delivered a punch that knocked Adam backwards. Casting a glance over his shoulder, Centurion whipped out his communicator said, "Bring her up, James." Dull light formed around Angie and she vanished without a trace. Turning his attention back to Adam, Centurion grabbed him by the collar, lifted him up off the ground, and said, "Call off the dragon. Now." The Eye of Heaven sighed and the dragons vanish in a puff of smoke. "You're going back, Adam," Centurion said, "I can't let you do this." Before Adam could respond, a blast of wind pulled him from Centurion's grip. "Now we can't have that,' a voice from above them said. The Scouts and Centurion looked up to see the four generals floating above the now missing roof. "Neflite!" Sailor Moon shouted, "What are you doing?" Neflite looked away, unable to answer. "He's joined the winning team, Sailor Moon," Zoycite said, laughing. "Who are you?" Adam demanded. "Why we are you're allies," Malachite said, his voice filled with disbelief, "Don't you remember us?" "Don't listen to them, Adam," Centurion commanded. "This is not going to work here," Zoycite said. "Yes, let's take our conversation else where," Jedite said, waving his hand. Instantly, the generals and Adam vanished. "Damn!" Centurion shouted. "What's going on?" Sailor Mars demanded, placing herself right in Centurion's face. "Who are you?" Sailor Jupiter asked, "Who is the Eye of the Heaven and what are the generals doing back?" "And who's she?" Sailor Moon asked, indicating Sailor Vega. Centurion looked at the Scouts then pulled out his communicator, and said, "Lock on to the Scouts, Darien, the three cats, and myself and bring us up, James." "Yes, sir," James voice came back, "And you have a surprise waiting for you up here." "Wonderful," Centurion said as a dull light engulfed them and they vanished. Chapter 7 Everyone appeared on board Centurion's space station where James and tall man waited for them. The man had blond hair that reached down to his shoulders and wore red armor, just like Centurion's. As soon as Centurion saw the tall man, he yelled, "Aaron!" Sir Aaron strode forward and the two clasped each other on the back. "How are you?" Centurion asked, as he stepped back to look at his old friend. Sir Aaron smiled and held at his hand to Sailor Vega, who stepped up and embraced him. "I'm married," Sir Aaron said, smiling. "To her..." Centurion said, amazed. Then he snapped his fingers. "Of course,' he said, pointing at Sailor Vega, "You're Princess Krista." "Are you going to tell us what's going on?" Turning away from Sir Aaron, Centurion surveyed the group he had brought together. Sailor Moon, a klutz of a princess; Sailor Mercury, the brains of the Scouts; Sailor Mars, a hothead with no discipline; Sailor Jupiter, a tomboy with an attitude; Sailor Venus, the model and almost a duplicate of Sailor Moon; Tuxedo Mask, the only real warrior of the group; Angie, a young girl who was thrown into this by circumstance; Luna, the cat who never had any fun; Artemis, the prankster cat; and Lunamis, the cat who held the answers. Centurion frowned slightly. Not exactly the people he wanted to send against the generals and his brother. Centurion kneeled in front of Lunamis and said, "Give the medallion, Lunamis." "Why should I?" Lunamis demanded. "I don't even know who you are." "Very well," Centurion said. "I am a Knight of the Sun, a member of an elite group of fighters who served Queen Serenity until the end. My codename is Centurion Alpha." Sir Aaron started to say something, but was silenced by a glance from Centurion. "I have pledged my life in protection of Princess Serena and Prince Darien," Centurion continued, "And I will do anything to fulfill that pledge. Even if it means I have to kill you to get that damn medallion." Lunamis looked at him in surprise as Sailor Vega said, "Give it to him." Lunamis concentrated for a moment, then a small heart shaped amulet appeared. The amulet was golden with a picture of the sun craved into it. Centurion leaned over and picked up the amulet and turned to Angie. "Put it on," he ordered. Angie took the amulet and placed it around her. The amulet glowed lightly at her touch. "Now, put your hand around the amulet and say 'Sunshine Power," Centurion said. Angie clutched the amulet and, with her voice shaking, said, "Sunshine Power." Sunbeams burst forth from the sun carved on the amulet and surrounded Angie. The beams flashed brightly, blinding everyone in the room. Blinking away the light, everyone saw Angie in a bright yellow Scout uniform. "Allow me to introduce Sailor Sunshine," Centurion said. Sailor Moon and the four original Scouts stared as the memories came flowing back. "Princess Angela of the Sun!" Sailor Moon said. "And Sailor Ve= ga is Princess Krista of the Sun!" "That's right," Centurion said. Sir Aaron stepped forward and said, "Centurion and I have to talk, so we'll leave you to catch up. Krista, will you come with me and Centurion?" With that, Sir Aaron lead Centurion and Krista from the room, leaving the Scouts, Tuxedo Mask, and the cats to talk. ************ "What's going on, Sir Thomas?" Sir Aaron demanded when they were out of the Scouts' hearing. "Why didn't you tell them you were the Sun Lord?" Centurion looked at Sir Aaron and Sailor Vega for a moment as if considering something. Finally Centurion said, "I don't want to get their hopesup. The ring was destroyed in the fight with the Negaverse when the Moon Kingdom was destroyed. I'm no longer the Sun Lord." "I thought the ring couldn't be destroyed," Sailor Vega said. "Well, it was," Centurion said, looking away from them. "And we'll have = to do without it for this battle and every battle to come." ************ "You see, we fought those creatures of the Negaverse when they attacked the Moon Kingdom over a thousand years ago," Jedite said. The Eye of the Heaven looked at Jedite in confusion. "My brother is a servant of the Negaverse?" he asked. "Of course he is," Malachite said, placing his hands on the Eye of the Heaven's shoulders. "How else could the Negaverse have done what they did the Moon Kingdom?" Adam's breath became ragged as his angered came to bear. "Of course," he yelled, "he set me up! Everything that night was a set up! They were all in on it!" "And those girls you fought were his troops," Zoycite said. "Where are they now?" Adam demanded. "Why do you wish to know?" Neflite asked, struggling to hold back his concern. "So that we may attack them when they least expect it," the Eye of the Heaven said, "And destroy them once and for all!" ************ "Artemis, you were always current on the Moon Kingdom's military," Luna said, "what are the Knights of the Sun?" Artemis didn't answer for a moment. Finally he said, "The Knights of the Sun were what Centurion said, an elite group of fighters who served Queen Serenity until the end." Lunamis padded forward and said, "They were lead by the Lord of the Sun, a man chosen by the previous Lord. The last Lord of the Sun was Sir Thomas of Earth." "What do you guys think of Centurion Alpha?" Sailor Moon asked. "I think we can trust him," Sailor Sunshine said, having over come her shock of new identity. Tuxedo Mask looked at Sailor Sunshine and said, "I agree, but I also think he's not telling us the whole truth." "I wonder what he's hiding from us," Sailor Jupiter wondered aloud. Suddenly, everyone was thrown off their feet as a blast knocked the station. "What's going on?" Sailor Mercury demanded as Centurion, Sir Aaron, and Sailor Vega charged back into the room. "We're under attack!" James yelled as he entered the room from a different direction and the station rocked from another attack. "Activate the station's defense systems!" Centurion ordered. Casting around, he said, "Each of you be ready to transport out at a moment's notice." "Defense systems engaged!" Sir Aaron had taken the tactical console of the station. "James, give me a visual!" Centurion shouted as the station rocked again. James pushed a series of buttons on one of the many computer consoles. Instantly, on one of the walls of the space station changed to a view screen showing the generals and the Eye of the Heaven blasting away at the station. "They got him," Centurion muttered. "Orders, sir?" James asked. "Aaron, pick a target and fire," Centurion said, "James, get the Scouts and Tuxedo Mask to a transporter and put them back on Earth. Sir Aaron will follow shortly." "Yes, sir!" Sir Aaron and James said simultaneously. Sir Aaron fired a blast of energy from the station's defense cannon at Jedite, but he managed to dodge the blast. "Damn," Sir Aaron muttered as he waited for the cannon to recharge. Sir Thomas watched as the transporter went active eight times. When the final transport had taken place, he pushed a few buttons on the console in front of him and said, "Switching to automatic defense systems. Come on, Aaron. Let's take this fight to Earth." Together, they ran out of the command section of the station and down to the transporter, followed by Luna, Artemis, and Lunamis who had been for= gotten in the crisis. "James," Centurion said, "you first." "I'm sorry, sir," James said, "but please trust me when I say, I must stay." Centurion looked at James for a moment then said, "This goes against my better judgement, but fine. As soon as we're off, let the generals and my brother know. They should follow us." "I'm sorry to say this," James said, "But they detected the Scouts transport and have already followed them." Sir Aaron and Centurion exchanged glances and Centurion said, "We need a plan." Chapter 8 The Scouts appeared in an empty field. In the distance, they could see Tokyo, glowing brightly in the night sky. "Is everyone alright?" Sailor Moon asked, her voice thick with concern. Everyone nodded. "Good," she said, "Let's head for Tokyo. We can meet up with Centurion and Sir Aaron there." Before the Scouts could start walking, the generals and the Eye of the Heaven appeared, surrounding them. "Going so soon?" Adam asked. "Why the party's just begun!" Zoycite said, raising her hands. Twin bolts of black lightning leaped from Zoycite's hands, striking Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus, driving them both to their knees. "We're going to have an earth shaking good time!" Malachite said, pointing at Sailor Mars. The ground behind Sailor Mars rose up and slammed into her, pinning her to the ground. "And we wouldn't want you to miss any of the fun," Jedite said, firing a blast that blew Sailor Mercury off her feet. Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask backed away as Neflite floated down in front of them. Raising both hands, Neflite fired two beams of energy, both missing their targets by several feet. "Get with it, Neflite!" Jedite yelled , blasting Sailor Mercury again. Neflite nodded and fired again. And again both blasts missed Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. He doesn't want to hurt us, Tuxedo Mask thought, so why is he doing this? The Eye of the Heaven threw out both hands and shouted, "Heavenly Star Blast!" Two energy blasts shot out of his hands and raced towards Sailor Vega and Sailor Sunshine, both of whom dove out of the way. "We are getting our butts kicked!" Sailor Moon cried, dodging a half hearted beam from Neflite. "Then it's time to even the score," Sailor Vega said. Sailor Vega held up her hand and instantly a long spear appeared in her hand. Pointing her spear at the Eye of the Heaven, Sailor Vega cried, "Vegan Spear Slash!" A blast of energy launched from the spear and hit the Eye of the Heaven squarely in the chest, knocking him to the ground. Adam stood and shook himself off, then pointed at Sailor Vega and said, "Heavenly Star Annihilation!" Another blast of energy shot from Adam's hand, but it dropped into the ground instead of flying directly at Sailor Vega. Suddenly, the ground underneath Sailor Vega exploded, sending her sprawling to the ground. As Sailor Vega stood up, Malachite turned from the unconscious Sailor Mars and flung his hand up,sending a ball of fire at Tuxedo Mask. Tuxedo Mask leaped over the fireball and threw three roses at Malachite. Malachite stepped lively, dodging each of the three roses. Jedite and Zoycite turned from their defeated opponents and joined their comrades as Tuxedo Mask and the three remaining Scouts regrouped opposite from them. "We're in trouble," Sailor Moon said, glancing at each of their opponents. "Where are Centurion and Sir Aaron?" Sailor Sunshine demanded. "I don't know," Sailor Vega said, biting her lip. "Hit them together," Jedite ordered, as the generals encircled the group. Throwing up his hands, Jedite bellowed, "Mind Force!" Zoycite pointed at the foursome and shouted, "Lightning Chain!" "Earth Rage!" Malachite yelled, thrusting his fists at them. "Heavenly Star Blast!" the Eye of the Heaven screamed, pointing at the group. Neflite turned his head away, held up his hand in the general direction of the Scouts, and said, "Energy Beam." The five attacks raced towards the Scouts and Tuxedo Mask, who watching with no place to go. They braced themselves for the impact as a dim light surround them. They vanished just before the attacks past through the air where they had been standing. ************ "What happened?" Sailor Moon asked. "Better question, where are we?" Tuxedo Mask said. "In an abandoned warehouse somewhere in the center of Tokyo." Turning around the foursome found themselves facing Centurion and Sir Aaron. "Where are the other Scouts?" Sailor Vega asked. "They've been captured," Centurion stated flatly. "We are the only ones left. It's up to us to take the generals out." "How?" Tuxedo Mask demanded, his voice filled with anger and frustration. "We just fought them and they were more than a match for us!" "This time you'll have us though," Sir Aaron said. "So what?" Tuxedo Mask roared. "You have no special abilities! What are you going to against someone like Jedite, who apparently has control over= thought?" "I believe I may have an answer," a voice said. They all turned to see James standing in the shadows, holding a small gold box. Balancing the box on his left hand, James opened it using his right to reveal a gold ring with a thick band and clear, glowing gem in the center. On either side of the gem was a engraving of the sun. "The Sun Ring..." Sailor Vega said. Sir Aaron spun on Centurion and said, "You told me they were destroyed!" "They should have been," Centurion said, his face twisted in rage. "What's the Sun Ring?" Sailor Moon asked. From behind James came Luna, Artemis, and Lunamis. "The Sun Ring is what gives the Sun Lord his powers," Artemis said. "Which means..." Tuxedo Mask looked at Centurion in surprise. "...that Centurion Alpha is Sir Thomas, the Sun Lord," Sailor Sunshine said. "You were the one that saved me from Adam in the first place." Centurion looked away from Sailor Sunshine without replying, all the anger drained from his face. "Why aren't you using the power now?" she demanded. "Because it's a curse," Centurion responded, his voice barely audible. "Sir, the powers are not a curse," James said, walking up to Centurion. "They are a blessing." Centurion spun to face James, rage burning in his eyes. Sweeping his hand, Centurion knocked the box from James's hand, sending the ring to the floor. "A blessing?" he screamed, "A blessing? By the moon, your "blessing " killed my wife!" Sir Aaron looked at Centurion in surprise as James said, "No, sir. You killed your wife." The room fell deathly silent at this, then Centurion said, "How dare you?" "You killed your wife, sir," James said again. "You. Not the power." "How dare you?!" Centurion shouted, grabbing James by the scruff of the neck. James's eyes flared as he said, "How dare I? How dare I? Do you even know who I am?" James ripped Centurion's hands from his shirt and threw him to the ground. "I am the sum of memories, knowledge, and history of every Knight of the Sun that has ever held the title Lord of the Sun!" James yelled, towering over Centurion, "I am the judge of your career and when you die, all of your knowledge you have will be transfer to me, then to the next advisor of the Sun Lord. That is how I dare!" Centurion was staring up at James with unmasked terror in his eyes. "I didn't kill her," he muttered, shaking his head. "I loved her." James's expression softened instantly. "You didn't kill her intentionally, Sir Thomas," James said. "But you can no longer blame the power." "Who was she?" Sailor Moon asked. "The Lady Milinda of Venus," Sir Aaron answered, "the only woman Knight of the Sun." "How did she die?" Tuxedo Mask asked in a gentle voice. "It was during the attack on the Moon Kingdom," Centurion said, his eyes glazing over. "I was fighting the Negaverse the best I could, using the power of the Sun Lord. I had rounded a corner and entered the Great Hall. At first, I thought I was alone, but then a figure burst from the darkness. It was Jedite, one of the traitors. He had a sword raised to attack and he was screaming something. When he was within twenty feet of me, I fired a blast that put a good sized hole in him." Centurion paused to gather his thoughts, then continued, his voice thick= with emotion, "But it hadn't been Jedite. It had been Milinda. Somehow t= hey tricked me into killing my wife." Turning away from the others, Centurion squeezed his eyes shut as James said, "I found him kneeling by his wife's body almost ten minutes later. When I placed my hand on his shoulder, he powered down. After he powered down, we found ourselves in the ruins of the Moon Kingdom. As near as I can figure, Sir Thomas powered down at the same instant Queen Serenity sent her subjects into the future. The two powers mixed and Sir Thomas and I found ourselves a thousand and ten years in the future. I can't explain it any better. After realizing what had happened, we built the station to keep an eye on you and the Negaverse." Tuxedo Mask removed his mask and walked over to Centurion. Placing a han= d on his shoulder, Darien said, "I know how you feel. I've been there." Centurion turned and stared into Darien's eyes, seeing the pain and understanding that was in there. Turning away from Darien, Centurion walked over to the ring, picked it up, and put it on the ring finger of his right hand. Placing his right hand in front of his chest, palm down, Centurion said, "Sun Lord Transformation Activation." Centurion's palm flared with bright light. Rotating his arm, he created a circle of light in front of him. For a moment, the light hung in the air, then it burst in on the Centurion and at the same time, burst out, blinding everyone in the room. When the group looked back, Centurion had been changed. His once red armor was now a blinding gold and a golden cape flowed behind him. On his left arm was a golden shield and in his right hand was a golden longsword, both made of a metal no one could identify. "Now what?" Sir Thomas asked, looking down at his new, yet familiar garments. "I have another suggestion," James said, smiling. "One that believe will answer a lot of questions." Chapter 9 "That explains where Molly is," Sailor Moon said. "And why Neflite is helping the generals," Tuxedo Mask added. Sir Thomas stared at the view screen. "We'll have to go in and bring her out," he said. The group was gathered back on the station, looking at the read-out that James had pulled up on the view screen. "So what's the plan, my lord?" Sir Aaron said. Sir Thomas glared at Sir Aaron as he said, "We're going to divide into two teams. Sailor Moon, you, Sailor Vega, and Sailor Sunshine will be the first team. Your job is simple, but dangerous." Sailor Vega smiled. "We laugh at the face of danger," she said. "Ha ha ha." Sir Thomas raised an eyebrow. "I don't think you'll like this," he responded. "You have to keep the generals and my brother distracted and free the other Scouts, while Sir Aaron, Tuxedo Mask, and myself go into the dimensional prison." "How do you suggest we do this?" Sailor Sunshine asked. "Use you're imagination," Sir Thomas suggested with a shrug. "Thanks a lot," Sailor Moon muttered. ************ The generals and the Eye of the Heaven were in the abandoned church once more. Mounted on the wall, held by chains of rock, were the four Scouts. "Aren't our trophies beautiful?" Jedite asked, smiling. "Never seen anything more beautiful," Malachite said. Zoycite cleared her throat. "Except for you, my dear," Malachite amended. Zoycite smiled, then turned to Neflite. "We do have one thing to deal with," she snarled. The Eye of the Heaven moved forward and grabbed Neflite by the collar. "Why didn't you do better at taking out the Negaverse's leader?" he demanded. Neflite opened his mouth to reply, but Jedite beat him to it. "We just recently recruited Neflite in our battle with the Negaverse," he said. "That's right," Malachite agreed. "He's still unused to the fighting." Adam released Neflite's collar and said, "Well, do better next time." Suddenly, a spear landed in between Jedite and Malachite. Looking up, the group saw Sailor Vega and Sailor Sunshine, standing on the beams of the church. "Hello, guys," Sailor Sunshine said, "brought you a house warming present. Sunshine Super Sparkle!" Sparks flew from Sailor Sunshine's fingertips, falling onto the generals below burning them. Sailor Vega threw her arms forward and shouted, "Vega Super Nova!" A blast of energy burst from Sailor Vega's hands, knocking the generals and Adam to the ground. As the generals and Adam picked themselves off the ground, the two Scouts leaped out of the building through a hole in the ceiling. "After them!" Jedite ordered Malachite, Zoycite, and Neflite. To Adam, he said, "Stay here in case Sailor Moon tries to free her Nega pals." With that, the generals tore out of the building in pursuit of the Scouts, leaving Adam to watch the four Scouts chained to the wall. The Eye of the Heaven looked around, making sure that he was alone. He relaxed and let his eyes close. Something's wrong here, he thought, the generals say they're fighting the Negaverse, but... Adam's eyes snapped and he found himself looking at Sailor Moon. "I know who you are," Sailor Moon said, "And I'm going to help you." Sailor Moon produced her locket, held it above her head, and said, "Moon Crystal Healing." Light burst from Sailor Moon's crystal and surrounded Adam. He fell to the ground, every cell in his body going to war with itself. Screaming in pain, Adam vanished from sight. Sailor Moon stared, unmoving. "What happened to him?" she asked, bemused. "Who cares?" Sailor Mars snapped. "Get us out of here!" Sailor Moon nodded and pulled off her tiara. "Moon Tiara Magic!" she shouted, throwing her tiara at the chains that held the Scouts. The tiara ripped through the chains like butter, letting the Scouts drop to the ground. "Come on," Sailor Moon said, "We have to get to the temple!" ************ Adam appeared on the station. Looking up, he saw James towering over him, a look of determination on his face. "Come on," James said, lifting Adam to his feet, "the end is at hand and your role must be completed." ************ Sailor Sunshine and Sailor Vega stopped outside the temple to catch their breath. "Do you think we lost them?" Sailor Sunshine asked, gasping for breath. Almost in response to her question, the ground beneath the two Scouts erupted, throwing them to the ground. "No," Malachite said. "And now we have two more Scout trophies to add to our collection," Zoycite floating down. Pointing her hands at the Scouts she shouted, "Zoy!" Black lightning ripped through the air, blasting the Scouts backwards. As Sailor Vega and Sailor Sunshine struggled to their feet, Jedite landed in front of them and said, "Good-bye, Sailor Saps." His eyes flared and the two Scouts felt something slam into them, throwing them against one of the temple walls. "Leave them alone!" a voice from behind the generals shouted. The four generals turned to find the rest of the Scouts standing behind them. Sailor Moon stepped forward and said, "My name is Sailor Moon. I fight for love and justice and protect people from all evil. And that means you. In the name of the moon, I'll punish you!" Jedite sighed in boredom. "Neflite, shut her up," he ordered. Neflite's hands shot up and two beams of energy lanced through the air, engulfing all five of the Scouts. Malachite looked at Sailor Vega and Sailor Sunshine, his eyes glowing. The air around the two Scouts became solid and they found themselves floating towards the other Scouts. Once they were above the Scouts, the air became normal and they fell into Neflite's blast. "Now!" shouted Zoycite, throwing up her hands and unleashing her lightning. The other two generals added their powers to Neflite's and Zoycite's. The combination of powers forced the Scouts to their knees. Then, as suddenly as it started, the attacks stopped. Floating into the air, Jedite said, "Malachite, I believe Zoycite and Neflite can finish off the Scouts by themselves. I want to check on the Eye of the Heaven and try to repair whatever damage Sailor Moon did him." With that, Jedite and Malachite vanished, leaving Zoycite and Neflite alone. "Blast them," Zoycite ordered, "or your girlfriend will die." Neflite nodded slightly and blasted the Scouts with Zoycite, combining their powers once more. The Scouts screamed in pain as lightning and energy coursed through their bodies. Neflite closed his eyes, trying to block out the image of the Scouts. Off to Neflite's right there was a flash of dull light. Opening his eyes, Neflite saw Sir Thomas, Sir Aaron, and Tuxedo Mask standing shoulder to shoulder. Sir Thomas stepped forward and said, "Neflite, I have a gift f= or you." Sir Thomas gestured and Sir Aaron and Tuxedo Mask stepped aside to reveal Molly. Neflite stared at Molly for a moment, a tear coming to his eyes. Setting his face, Neflite spun and blasted Zoycite with his energy, knocking her to the ground. Before anyone could react, Neflite moved over to Zoycite and lifted her into the air. "This is for Molly," he said, his hands glowing with energy. The energy raced from Neflite's hands and into Zoycite, who screamed in agony for a brief instant, then went limp in Neflite's hands. Releasing his grip, Neflite let Zoycite's lifeless body fall to the ground. Turning, Neflite held his arms and said, "Molly!" Molly ran forward and threw her arms around Neflite, crying. "I was so scared," she sobbed as Neflite hugged her. "It's alright," Neflite soothed, "you're safe now." "Zoycite!" Neflite glanced over his shoulder to see Malachite kneeling over Zoycite's body. Malachite looked up at Neflite, hatred burning in his eyes, and said, "You have taken my love from me, now I will take your love from you!" Lifting his hand, Malachite shot a beam of fire at Molly. "No!" Neflite screamed, shoving Molly out of the way of the fire blast. The flames engulfed Neflite and knocked him to the ground. Tuxedo Mask and Sir Thomas reacted instantly and simultaneously. Sir Thomas pulled out his sword, pointed it at Malachite, and said, "Sun Lord Solar Flare!" A blast of solar energy leaped from his sword as Tuxedo Mask pulled out a rose and flung it at Malachite. The two attacks hit Malachite at once and in flash of light, he vanished. Sheathing his sword, Sir Thomas pulled out his communicator as Molly rushed to Neflite's side. "James, lock on to Neflite and Molly," he said, "Bring them up and get the med-bots to help Neflite. Hurry!" As Sir Thomas put away his communicator, a dull light surrounded Neflite= and Molly and they vanished. "Two down, one to go," Sir Thomas said. "And this time you'll have help," a voice said. Turning, the group found themselves face to face with the Eye of the Heaven. He was dressed completely in white with a long white cape swirling behind him. "I want to help," he said, "make up for what I've done." Sir Thomas smiled and extended a hand to Adam. "Welcome back, brother," he said. Suddenly, the ground beneath the group exploded, scattering them everywhere. Out of the ground floated Jedite, his eyes blazing with anger and hatred. "Now," Jedite said, his voice low and menacing, "you will face me." Chapter 10 The Sailor Scouts, Tuxedo Mask, Sir Aaron, Sir Thomas, and the Eye of the Heaven stared up at Jedite as energy crackled around him. "Get him!" Sir Thomas ordered. Pointing his sword at Jedite, he shouted, "Sun Lord Solar Flare!" A small glow shaped like a ball formed in Sailor Jupiter's palm. Throwin= g it at Jedite, she yelled, "Jupiter Thunderclap Zap!" Placing her hands together and pointing them at Jedite, Sailor Mars sentseveral rings of fire at Jedite as she said, "Mars Celestial Fire Surrou= nd!" Sailor Venus pointed her finger at Jedite, sending a chain of energy at him as she said, "Venus Love Chain Encircle!" Sailor Mercury pushed her hands at Jedite, firing a blast of ice and snow at him as she said, "Mercury Ice Storm Freeze!" Sailor Moon pulled out her Moon Scepter, pointed it at Jedite, and said, "Moon Scepter Elimination!" Reaching into his jacket, Tuxedo Mask produced five roses and flung them at Jedite, followed quickly by his cane. Adam's hands shot forward, sending lances of energy at Jedite as he said, "Heavenly Star Annihilation!" Sailor Vega sent a beam of energy from her spear at Jedite as she said, "Vegan Spear Slash!" Sparks flew from Sailor Sunshine's hands at Jedite as she said, "Sunshin e Super Sparkle!" The attacks raced towards Jedite, who chuckled and held up his hand. The attacks hit something about five feet in front of Jedite. The group star ed in horror to see their attacks have no effect on their nemesis. "My turn," Jedite said. His eyes sparkled once, then the group was thrown backwards and separated. "Let's see," Jedite mused, "who to kill first? I know. Let's kill them all at once." A ball of crackling energy appeared in front of Jedite, then sped towards the group, growing bigger with each foot it went. Sir Thomas shoved his way in front of the Scouts, held up his shield, and said, "Sun Lord Solar Shield!" A energy shield appeared in front of Sir Thomas, large enough to block the energy ball. Jedite growled and sent another ball of energy at the shield. "Does anyone have any ideas on what to do?" Sir Thomas said, through gritted teeth as another energy ball hit the shield. "I have an idea," Adam said. "I can absorb energy through any constellation that I call down. If I call down a constellation and you blast it with your attacks, I'll be able to penetrate Jedite's shielding." "Are you sure?" Sir Aaron asked. "Positive," Adam replied. Sir Aaron looked at Sir Thomas and said, "Well?" Sir Thomas was silent for a moment, then said, "Do it." Adam nodded and looked up at the stars. "Ursa, bear of the stars, come and aid me," he cried. The stars dimmed as a large, brown bear appeared next to Adam. "Attack it," Adam ordered. Sir Thomas nodded at the Scouts and immediately they fired all of their attacks at the constellation. Adam gestured at the bear and a blue energy beam shot out, striking the Eye of the Heaven. Empowered by the energy from the bear, Adam strolled past Sir Thomas's shield to face Jedite. Pointing his hand at Jedite, the Eye of the Heaven said, "Heavenly Star Blast!" The energy blast penetrated Jedite's shield and threw him to the ground. Standing, Jedite said, "You will pay for that." The two combatants began blasting each other with their powers, neither gaining the upper hand. "We can't let this continue," Sir Aaron said. "He's right," Tuxedo Mask said, "at the rate they're going, they'll level Tokyo." "What can we do?" Sailor Moon asked. "Our attacks don't have any effect on Jedite," Sailor Jupiter said. "It's up to Adam," Sailor Mercury said. Suddenly, Jedite unleashed a blast that knocked the Eye of the Heaven to the ground. Jedite pounced on him without hesitation. "Now, to give the Negaverse what it wants," Jedite said, laughing. Adam glowed bright red as Jedite began to drain the energy from him. "We have to help him," Sailor Vega cried, rushing forward. Jedite glanced in the group's direction and smiled. Out the Ursa shot ten red tentacles, each reaching for one of the group. "Scatter!" Sir Thomas shouted, leaping out of the way of a tentacle. The group began dodging the tentacles, but the tentacles were faster than anyone could have thought possible, and soon only Sir Thomas and Tuxedo Mask remained out of their grasp. "Any ideas?" Tuxedo Mask asked, dodging a tentacle. "One, but it's risky," Sir Thomas said. "What is it?" Tuxedo Mask said. "Cover me," Sir Thomas answered, "and remember to tell James that I name my son." Tuxedo Mask leaped out of the grasp of another tentacle and shot Sir Thomas a puzzled look. Sir Thomas dove under a tentacle and rolled, stopping in front of Jedite. "This ends now, Jedite," Sir Thomas shouted. "That's right, Sir Thomas," Jedite answered. Jedite let Adam fall from his grasp. "It looks like I'm going to get to take out your whole family," Jedite said. Sir Thomas hesitated. "What do you mean?" he asked. "I've already drain Adam's life energy from him as you can see," Jedite said, "And which of the generals did you think was responsible for your wife's death?" Sir Thomas's face went livid with rage as he said, "You bastard." "Oh, don't worry," Jedite said, grabbing Sir Thomas's neck, "you'll be joining your wife and your brother soon enough." "But I'm taking you with me," Sir Thomas said as Jedite began to drain his energy. Jedite looked at Sir Thomas, puzzled. Sir Thomas smiled and close his eyes as he said, "Sun Lord Sun Nova!" The ring glowed a bright yellow as beams shot out, surrounding Jedite and Sir Thomas. The yellow travelled engulfed Sir Thomas as he whispered, "I'm coming, beloved." In an explosion of bright yellow energy, Sir Thomas and Jedite vanished, leaving a small crater where they had stood. The instant after, they vanished, the tentacles and the bear went with them, dropping the group to the ground. "My God," Sir Aaron crawled to the crater, "he's gone." "What happened?" Tuxedo Mask asked. "Sir Thomas used the Lord of the Sun's ultimate power and sacrifice," James said as he appeared in a flash of light. "the Sun Lord Sun Nova. It can only be used once." "He killed himself?" Sailor Sunshine asked, astonished. "He saw no other choice in the matter," James said. Sir Aaron surveyed the crater. "Where's the Sun Ring?" he said, confused. "That is why the power can only be used once," James said. "It destroys the ring." "What do we do now?" Sailor Venus asked. "We picked the pieces, bury our dead, and fight on, in their memory," James said. "Did Sir Thomas leave a message for me?" Tuxedo Mask nodded. "He said 'I name my son'." James looked at the crater and said, "I thought as much." No one moved for a moment, unable to believe the events of the past few = days. Finally, James bowed slightly to the crater and said, "Good-bye, my friend, we are forever in your debt." With that, James vanished. Epilogues Molly slept restless in one of the chairs of the station, her dreams a mixture of the events of year ago and the events of a few short hours ago. Once more, she muttered the words of yesterday in her sleep. "No," she muttered, "Don't go, Neflite. We'll get a doctor and everything will be al right. Hang on, Neflite. I don't want you to go. Don't leave me, Neflite.= Noooo!" A hand touched her shoulder, bringing her awake instantly. In front of her, kneeling on one knee, was Neflite. He smiled and wrapped his arms around her as he said, "I'll never leave you again." ************ James and Sir Aaron appeared in the park. It was about midnight, a few days after Sir Thomas's death. James was dressed in black, a sign of his mourning while Sir Aaron was dressed in his red Sun Knight armor. "What are we doing here?" Sir Aaron asked. "It's time for a new generation to take over our fight, Sir Aaron," James said. "All things must past." "So, what's that got to do with being here?" Sir Aaron asked, confused. James sighed. "We are here to meet someone," he said. "You're late." "And you are impatient," James responded, turning. Sir Aaron followed James's suit and found himself looking at a young man, no more than 17 years old. He was wearing white sneakers, blue jeans, a light grey raincoat, and a dark grey fedora. "Not impatient, just punctual," the young man said with a smile. "Hello, James." "Hello, young sir," James responded. He indicated Sir Aaron. "Allow me to introduce to you Sir Aaron of Vega, code named Centurion Vega." The young man stepped forward and shook Sir Aaron's hand. "I understand you knew my father," the young man said. "Your father?" Sir Aaron said, staring intently at the young man. "By the moon, you're Frank." "That's right," the young man said, taking off his hat. "Sir Frank of Earth, son of Sir Thomas of Earth and Lady Milinda of Venus, code named Centurion Sol." "Sir Frank is a member of the new generation that I mentioned," James said, "the Star Knights." "The Star Knights?" Sir Aaron repeated. "When the Sun Ring was destroyed it transferred its power into individuals, yourself and Frank included, who were honest and good," James said as Sir Aaron's eyes widened in surprise. "It gave them each special powers, forming the Star Knights. I have logged six of the known Knights in the computers of the station. Sir Frank is to be their leader, the Star Lord so to speak, and you are to be their teacher." James reached forward and touched Sir Aaron's armor, changing it from the red of a warrior to the white of an advisor. "What about you?" Sir Aaron demanded, overwhelmed by the events. "I must got the way of my master," James said, as he vanished from sight. "My purpose has been served." Frank raised an eyebrow then glanced up at Sir Aaron. "So now what, teach?" he asked. Sir Aaron pulled his gaze away from the spot where James had stood and looked at Frank. Sighing, Sir Aaron said, "I guess we should find the other Star Knights." ************ Alan stretched as he woke and looked towards the Tree. His eyes widen and sleep fell from him when he saw the Tree was surrounded by a black sphere of energy. "Anne!" Alan shouted, jumping to his feet. He raced forward to touch the Tree, but his hands couldn't penetrate the barrier. He began pounding on it, desperate to get through to the tree. A few seconds later, he was joined by Anne, but even their combined efforts couldn't break through the barrier. Finally, the duo fell away from the sphere, exhausted. "What are we going to do, Alan?" Anne asked, "How did this happen?" Before Alan could respond, a voice from behind them said, "I put the sphere there and if you wish to ever access the Tree again, you will bow down to me!" ************ Serena tapped her pencil impatiently on the desk. With Miss H. dead, the class had had several substitutes over the past few days, until finally yesterday afternoon the principal had announced they had found a new teacher and that she would be in tomorrow morning. Now, for the first time in her life, Serena was early for school, wanting to make a good impression on the new teacher. Molly sat to her left, her gaze wandering around the room, while Angie sat her right, falling asleep in her seat. "Good morning, class." Everyone in the room looked up. Serena frowned as she recognized Krista standing in the door frame. "I'm your new teacher," Krista said with a smile. ************ The Scouts and Darien entered the park and headed for the bridge, all out of uniform. It was after school and Serena was bubbling with happiness. "I can't believe you're our teacher," Serena said to Krista in a singsong voice. Krista smiled at Serena and said, "Well, someone had to teach you, Serena." Angie shook her at thought of her sister teaching her class. "It's just wonderful," she muttered. Krista shot her a look as Amy said, "I wonder what Sir Aaron wanted to see us about." Lita shrugged. "Who knows? No one's been able to get a hold of him for a week," she said. "Do you know what's up, Krista?" Raye asked. Krista shook her head. "Well,we'll find out in a moment," Mina said, "there's the bridge." "Hey, that's Greg!" Amy exclaimed, rushing forward. "And Ken!" Lita said, following Amy. "And Chad?" Raye said, confused. "And there's Andrew!" Mina said. "What are they doing here?" Serena muttered. "And who's that guy with them?" Darien wondered aloud. The Scouts reached the bridge at the same time to find the guys all smiling at them. "So, you're Sailor Mars," Chad said to Raye, "That would certainly explain a lot." Ken looked at Lita, smiled slightly, and said, "And you would be Sailor Jupiter." Greg looked at Amy and Serena and said, "Hello, Sailor Mercury and Sailor Moon" "Sailor Venus," Andrew said, bowing to Mina. "And allow me to introduce, Krista, also known as Sailor Vega; Angie or Sailor Sunshine; and the elusive Tuxedo Mask otherwise known as Darien," the unknown boy said. The Scouts and Darien exchanged concerned looks. "How do you know this?" Darien asked. "I told them." Suddenly, Sir Aaron appeared in front of them, clad in white armor. "Allow me to introduce, you're new companions. The Star Knights." "The Star Knights?" Serena asked. "Yes," the unknown boy said, "My name is Frank, the Star Lord, code named Centurion Sol." Chad grinned. "I'm Centurion Altair." "I'm Centurion Sirrus," Ken said. "I'm Centurion Regulus," Greg declared. "And I'm Centurion Polaris," Andrew stated. "Welcome to a new age of Knights, Scouts," Sir Aaron said. The five knights beamed at the Scouts as Frank stepped forward and said, "I hope you understand that each of you will be assigned a Star Knight to protect you." "What?" Serena said as the other Scouts exchanged looks. Except for you, Princess," Frank said, "I think Darien is enough to protect you. As for the rest of you: Andrew has been assigned to Mina, Ken has Lita, Greg has Amy, Chad has Raye, and Sir Aaron said he would take Krista. I didn't think I could argue with him." "Darn right," Sir Aaron said, slipping his arm around Krista. "What about me?" Angie asked. Frank smiled. "I have gotten the privilege of protecting you, miss." "We don't need protection!" Lita protested. "I actually don't care whether you think you need protection or not," Frank said, "As leader of the Knights, it is my duty to assign you protection." "He's adopted the rules of the Sun Knights," Sir Aaron explained, "He must protect the subjects of the Moon Kingdom at all costs." "But from what?" Serena demanded. "What's there to protect us from?" Frank's face went totally sober as looked at Serena and said, "What's there to protect you from? The unexpected, Princess. That's what we protect you from." ************ "Excellent plan, Jedite." "Thank you, Malachite. I thought so myself." "How did you know what was happening?" "Simple, Zoycite," Jedite said, "When Malachite and I returned to the church to find the Eye of the Heaven gone, I knew Sailor Moon must have healed him. After that it was simply a matter of projecting images to fool the Scouts into thinking we were dead." Malachite looked away from his partners. "Something's wrong," he said. Suddenly, a ray of white energy hit the generals, sending them crushing into one of the walls. Jedite instinctively went to make a counterattack, but found his powers were gone. Looking at his fellow generals, he realized with horror that they couldn't access their powers either. A second blast of energy ripped through the air, striking the generals again. Battered and bloody, the generals pushed themselves to their feet. "Will you bow to me?" a voice asked. "Never," Jedite said, trying desperately to access his powers. A third blast shot out, driving the generals back to the ground. The voice sighed. "We all want the same thing" it said, "The death of Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts. After they are destroyed, you can go on your merry way." The three generals exchanged glances and finally Malachite said, "We will join you on one condition: you give us back out powers." Instantly, the generals felt their powers flow back into them. Standing, the generals brushed themselves off as Jedite said, "Now, who are you?" A tall, muscular man stepped into the light. He had thick, black hair and glowing red eyes. He was dressed in a red business suit and held himself with dignity. "My name is Savior," the man said, his voice low and menacing. "But my role in the Scouts' future is far different from what my name implies." Author's Note As you can see, I have left the normal track of the Sailor Moon esipodes and I intend to keep that way. Other characters, such as the Four Sisters= , Reeny, etc., will show up in future stories, but it won't be the same. The Star Knights will be a permanent part of my stories as will Savior. I hope you've enjoyed this story. If you have any questions or comments, please write to me at Storyist@AOL.com. TJ Caracino
