Forbidden Love Chapter One
	Prince Endymion was gazing up at the full moon from 
his window. He loved the moon. It looked like a diamond 
shining in the sky. He look at it every night, transfixed 
on it. But, everyone had always asked him what was so special 
about the moon. He would only ask them, " Well, what isn't?" 
	Tonight, as you know, the moon was full, and it was 
very clear out. He had been looking at it for about ten 
minutes, now. Suddenly, he saw a face… It wasn't just the 
normal man-on-the-moon face.. It was a girl's. Her eyes 
were crystal blue. She was looking down on Earth, as he 
looked up. The only thing that bothered him was she looked 
sad, " What in the…?" but, when he turned his head for a 
second and looked back, the face was gone.

	" Oh my, they almost saw me…" Princess Serenity 
whispered, taking a step back from the balcony's edge, " No 
one has ever seen us before, from Earth.." She was looking 
down on Earth, from the Moon Kingdom. She and only few other 
people lived there. But, she longed to see Earth, but knew 
that was impossible for her to arrange. She had been begging 
her Mother ever since the first day she learned there were 
people there, and always got the same answer, " No. You know 
we can't just go down there. Moon Children are meant for 
the Moon, Earthlings are meant for Earth." She repeated, 
sighing. 
	" Serenity, dear." The young princess turned around to 
face a woman with long silver hair, " I have a surprise for 
you." This was Queen Serenity, Serenity's Mother. Queen 
Serenity was what she was known as now, but many people still 
knew her as Selene, the Moon Goddess.
	" What is it, Mother?" asked Serenity, smiling 
brightly. Queen Serenity took a step forward and took her 
daughter's hands.
	" I'm here to grant your wish." She answered, " I have 
asked around, and all the people agree that they're princess 
should get to go to Earth." Serenity's eyes widened, " But 
only for one day."
	" Oh, thank you, Mother! Thank you thank you thank you 
thank you!!" Serena leaned forward and embraced Queen Serenity, 
" Earth! I'm going to Earth!" 
	" Now dear, it is only for a day. You have to be back 
by this time tomorrow, okay? And, to get back, all you need 
to say is my name, Selene, and I'll bring you home, okay?" 
Serenity had been so excited that she hadn't heard a word of 
it, but looked at her Mother.
	" Okay!" she exclaimed.

	Endymion was sitting in his chamber, looking out the 
window, longing for something, anything to do. Sometimes, 
even with his cheerful, high spirited sister, Raye, it got 
really boring here. He glanced farther into the city, and 
suddenly sat up straight. For a second, he just had to look. 
There was a white – seemed like a more white glow – moving 
around. He walked up to the window, and looked a little 
closer. It was a girl, in a glowing white dress. The smile 
on her face was more than contagious to the people. They all 
smiled, nodding there heads to her. She smiled back.
	Speaking of the girl - - it was Princess Serenity. She 
was almost, as Endymion had thought, glowing with happiness. 
This was the most exciting thing that had ever happened to 
her. Never had she left the Moon before, and now that she 
had, it was just more fun than anything, " Hello - - nice to 
meet you. I'm happy to see you.." she said, to each passing 
person. Suddenly, she felt someone take her hand. She turned 
around to see a teenage girl with very long, dark hair, 
matching her dark eyes. She smiled, almost as brightly as 
Serenity was.
	" Hi!" she said, still smiling, " You new here?" 
Serenity nodded, smiling again, " I'm glad to have you in 
my kingdom. My name's Raye." Serenity noticed she had said 
'her' kingdom. This sweet tom-boyish girl didn't seem like 
any princess she had heard of from Earth - - but she was 
so beautiful, and bright. Perfectly fit for a princess, 
actually. 
	" Hello. My names Serenity." She said, nodding, a 
little, " And I'm very happy to be here, too." Raye smiled.
	" Hey, Sere," Raye said. Serenity looked surprised. 
No one had ever given her a nick-name before. And she liked 
it. She felt special, " I'd like to introduce you to some 
friends… they'll love you!" Raye took Serenity's arm and 
began to drag her off, Serenity enjoying the whole thing, 
happy that she had made her first friend, already.
	Endymion giggled, " That Raye.." he said, backing 
away, " She's great at making friends.. I wonder where she 
gets it from… she didn't get it from me, that's for sure!" 
	" Hello, Endymion…" a voice said, shyly. Endymion 
didn't even turn, since he hadn't heard her. He was fixed on 
the angel – like girl that was being dragged away by his 
sister. The woman, Beryl, who had come in, followed his gaze 
and gasped, < What? Another girl? No! This can't be! He's 
mine!> she told herself, " Endymion?" this time, Endymion 
heard her, and looked over.
	" Oh, Beryl! Hi!" he said, smiling. EVERYONE knew Beryl 
had some crush on him, even he did, but he only wanted to 
be friends with her. He had tried making it clear, being nice 
enough not to exactly say NO.	
	" Hello, Endymion. Are you - - alright??" Beryl asked, 
shakily. Endymion looked at her, surprised.
	" Yeah… Why wouldn't I be?" he asked, giggling.
	" Sere, this is Mina, Lita, and Amy. Guys, this is my 
new friend, Sere." Raye said. She and Serenity were standing 
in front of three girls. Fist was a blond girl, who looked 
almost exactly like Serenity herself. Her blue eyes were 
lighter, and her blond hair let loose in a red bow. Next 
was a tall brunet girl, who's hair was in a pony-tail. And, 
then, came a shorter girl, who's blue hair was only a little 
less than shoulder length.
	" Hi!" they all said, smiling, " Nice to meet you, 
Sere…" Mina began, " Sere…" she repeated, thoughtfully, 
" That doesn't sound right…" Serenity looked a little 
surprised.
	" You're right…" Lita began, smiling, " How about a 
name like - -  Serena!" she said, smiling. Amy smiled too.
	" Yeah, that's perfect for you, Serena!" she said, 
smiling. Serenity - - or Serena - - smiled. Two new names 
in one day…
	" Thank you… That is a very pretty name." She said, 
her cheeks turning pink, " It's very nice to meet you all…" 
she looked at them. They seemed like the perfect group of 
girls - - they went together just right!
	" Hey, Raye! - -." A voice suddenly called. Raye 
looked over her shoulder. It was Endymion. He immediately 
halted at the sight of Serenity - - Serena. Raye smiled. 
Serena was just staring back at Endymion, curiously.
	" Serena, this is my brother, Endymion." Raye said, 
standing up straight, " The actual Prince of Earth!" 
Serena was now totally shocked, " Just, don't call him 
Endymion.." Raye whispered to her. Mina came over too.
	" Yeah, we call him by his first name, Darien, 
instead." She whispered. Lita and Amy giggled. Serena 
smiled. Endymion - - Darien, who still hadn't moved, shot 
Raye a look.
	" Sorry, Darien. I just told her your real name." 
She said, innocently. Darien crossed his arms and looked 
at her.
	" You only use that name to annoy me.. Endymion is 
what I prefer to be called, Raye. And you know that. 
Since I'm your older brother, and prince, you should 
obey." Serena flinched.
	" They always get in these really stupid fights! 
It's nothing!" Lita whispered to her. Raye looked at 
her brother, crossing her arms.
	" Well, I'm your younger sister, and princess, and 
I prefer to call you Darien. So you should obey." She said, 
smiling, triumphantly. Darien smiled.
	" You win, Raye – but only this time.." he said, with 
a chuckle. Raye looked over at Serena, again, and smiled.
	" Darien, this is Serenity. But we all now call her 
Serena." She said, smiling, " And she likes her new name!" 
Darien's gaze now shifted over to Serena.
	" Hi." He said, smiling. Serena smiled back. His 
smile was different, somehow, from everyone else's. It was 
warmer, with a more curious and caring look to it. She gave 
a short curtsy.
	" Hi." She replied, " It's nice to meet you, Darien." 
She said, rising up. Darien walked up and stood next to 
Raye, but faced her.
	" Say, when did you get here? I don't think I've seen 
you before.." he said, studying her, a bit. Raye smiled.
	" No. I just arrived here today. And I'd like to make 
the most of it, too." Serena said, " I'm glad I'm already 
making friends." She smiled even brighter, < This is very 
nice… I think I like 'Serena'..> 
	" Hmmm…" Lita looked at Serena, " Hey, guys! Why don't 
we take her out on the lake!" she suggested.
	" Oh, yeah! You'll love that, Serena!" Mina said, 
smiling, " It's beautiful out on the lake…" she began.
	" Yes, and after that, we can go out on a picnic. 
This'll be fun!" Amy replied. Raye looked at Serena.
	" Well, whadda you think? Would you like to come, 
Serena?" she asked. Serena nodded her head. Then, Raye 
looked at Darien, " Darien? Would your lowness like to come 
with us??" she asked. Everyone giggled at how she had used 
'lowness' instead of 'highness' for that. Darien smiled.
	" Sure, Raye." Was all he said. Raye smiled.
	" C'mon, guys!! If he's coming, than he can row the 
boat instead of you, Lita!" she said, beginning to walk. 
Lita smiled.
	" Thanx, Dare." She said, walking by him. Darien made 
a face. Raye ALWAYS did this to him.. And he never got mad. 
He loved his sister, and just plain couldn't get mad at her. 
Serena was only a few steps ahead of him, so he sped up a 
little, until her was walking next to her.
	" Hi." She said, smiling over at him, " So. You and 
Raye seem to get along?" she asked. Darien smiled.
	" Yeah. We get along fine. It's nice to have someone 
like her around, since our parents aren't around anymore." 
He said.
	" Oh.. I didn't know that they had passed away.." 
Serena said, looking up towards Raye, " I would love to have 
a sister. Or even a brother." She said.
	" Where'd you live?" asked Darien. Serena looked up 
at him, ever so startled at his sudden question. She couldn't 
tell him she was from the Moon!
	" Um.. Far far away.." she said. Darien looked at her 
strangely, for a second, but then quit. Serena sighed out 
in relief. She hadn't lied.. She was from FAR away, farther 
than he knew.. 
	" Really? What's it like in this far, far place you 
live in?" he asked. Serena giggled, " Is it anything like 
here?"
	" No, not really. There's much less people. But we do 
have a lake, and roses bloom there year-round. It's a really 
beautiful place, I must say." She smiled, dreamily. Darien 
smiled, too.
	" Ooooooh!" Raye was suddenly RIGHT in front of them, 
" Haven't a private conversation, are we?" she asked.
	" Serena, Darien, would you mind sharing this with 
the class?" asked Amy, acting as if she was a teacher. 
Serena smiled. These were the nicest people she had ever 
met.
	" Of course, Mrs. Amy." She said, " Darien and I were 
just talking about where I live." She said. Lita came up.
	" Where do you live?" she asked. Just then, Mina and 
Amy came up, too, " Is it this really cool enchanted place?? 
You look like a princess from a story book.." Serena blushed.
	" Yeah!" Mina got hearts in her eyes, " What if she was 
from the Moon???" Serena looked shocked, " It would be just 
like that story my Mom used to say, about Selene, the Moon 
Goddess, and how she would always watch over Earth! I'm Selene, 
now, and I see everything!" Mina began to dance around.
	" Okay, Mrs. Moon-Goddess," Raye began, " What's 
happening back in town??" Mina stopped her dancing.
	" I dunno… I can't see all the way back there!!" she 
giggled.
	" But you just said you could see everything!" Lita 
laughed. Serena began to laugh along with them, finding this 
extremely amusing. She WAS from the Moon, and her Mother WAS 
the Moon Goddess. 
	" Oh! We're almost there!" Amy said, pointing to the 
lake. All the girls smiled. Raye looked at Serena.
	" C'mon, Serena! C'mon, Darien!!" she took Serena's 
hand and began to run, followed by the other girls, and 
then, Darien, who was still walking, amused by how these 
girls acted.
	
	" Oh! It is beautiful!" Serena replied, looking at 
her reflection in the lake, " This is exactly like our lake 
at home!" she ran her fingers through the water, gently, 
as they passed by. Darien was rowing, while all the other 
girls looked around, whispering, occasionally, and glancing 
back and forth between Serena and Darien. Serena felt 
uncomfortable by this. < Oh, no!> suddenly, something came 
back to her, < I haven't told them I have to leave tonight… 
What will they say?? I knew I shouldn't have started 
anything down here! Now I'll have to hurt their feelings…> 
she stared, blankly, into the water, her hair gently 
blowing in the breeze. 
	" Serena, you in there?!" a sudden voice called, 
startling her, " Earth to Serena, come in Serena!" she 
recognized it as Raye's voice, " Where'd you fly off to, 
the moon?" Serena smiled at her. 
	" Not exactly.." she whispered, " I was just thinking.." 
he face darkened, " About when I go home.." Lita looked at 
her, curiously.
	" Go home? Aren't you staying here?" she asked, looking 
closely at Serena. Serena only shook her head, sadly.
	" No, I have to go home tonight, in the moonlight.." 
she whispered. Everyone's faces turned pale white.
	" TONIGHT?!" they all shouted, " Nooooo!! We were just 
getting to be friends!!" Mina wailed, " You can't leave us!"
	" Yeah." Amy agreed, " And why do you have to go home, 
anyway?" Serena was afraid to answer that, afraid that they 
might figure it out..
	" Because that's when I told my Mother I would come 
home." She closed here eyes. All the girls were looking at 
her, their mouths hanging open.
	" Serenity, why didn't you tell us?!!" asked Raye. 
Serena looked a bit surprised that Raye hadn't called her 
Serena, but knew that, since it was proper to address her 
that was in that tone, she looked at the floor.
	" Sorry… I was trying to avoid making too many friends, 
knowing this - - but, you seemed so nice,  I forgot…" all 
eyes were on Serena, now, not to mention that the boat 
stopped moving.. since Darien stopped, to look at her, too. 
	" Well, I guess what's going to happen is going to 
happen. We can't change it, but we can make the most of it!" 
Raye said, " We can make this the best day Serena ever had!" 
everyone agreed. Serena smiled. But she knew that she would 
be sad no matter what when she had to leave.

	" Mina, that's MY muffin!!" Lita said, snatching a 
stolen muffin from Mina. They were all sitting down for the 
picnic. Everyone was eating such strange things, Serena 
thought, but they did taste very good. Darien wasn't eating. 
He was just looking at them - - mostly Serena - -. 
	< There's no way she gotta leave..> he told himself, 
< I don't get it, either.. why come if you don't intend to 
stay at least for a full day?> but, Darien was upset about 
much MUCH more than that… It was something different. He 
was starting to feel something for her. For some reason, 
now he knew what love at first sight meant, " Serena, why 
do you have to leave tonight?" he asked. Everyone looked 
towards her, and then noticed she wasn't eating, either.
	Serena was looking at the ground, obviously 
uncomfortable, " My Mother said I had to. That's all." She 
said, closing her eyes, " But, I might be able to come 
visit you - - sometimes." She said.
	" Hey, I never thought of that! Where do you live? 
Then we can come visit you!" Amy exclaimed. Serena gasped, 
surprising them all.
	< What do I say????> she asked herself, < I can't tell 
them - - but then I should or else they'd be hurt, and then 
hate me…> she was staring, blankly, at Amy as she thought 
about it.
	" Serena??" Amy asked, shakily, " Are you okay?" a 
tear was in Serena's eye, but before it fell, she wiped it 
away and nodded.
	" I don't think that would be a good idea.." she 
whispered, " It would be better if I visited you.. Because… 
I …. You might not even like it where I live.."
	" Why wouldn't we? It can't be bad! You look like a 
princess!" Raye said, " But if we can't come, then…. you 
have to visit often!" she smiled, making Serena smile, 
slightly, too. Raye seemed so nice and caring about 
anything and everything, even when she herself would have 
been hurt by it. 
	" Well, I've gotta go fill up my canteen," Lita began, 
holding it up, " Anyone wanna come???" all the girls nodded, 
except…
	" No thank you, Lita, I'll wait here." Serena said, 
smiling. All of them nodded and then began to race toward 
the lake, Serena watching all the way. 
	" Hey, Serena," Serena turned, startled to see Darien 
still sitting there. The look on her face made Darien want 
to laugh, but he didn't.
	" Oh, Darien.." Serena giggled, " Forgive me for saying 
so, but I had almost forgotten you were here.." Darien smiled.
	" I was just thinking," he took something out of his 
pouch. It was a golden star locket, " Maybe you should take 
this home with you, to remember us here," Serena slowly took 
the beautiful locket, " Since I've got a feeling that you won't 
be coming back…" he said, < Even though I'll try to get you to 
stay..>
	" Oh, Darien.." Serena whispered, " It's - - it's very 
beautiful, but…. I don't know if I deserve it or not.." she 
whispered. She looked up at him, looking deep into his eyes. 
She had a feeling that she'd seen those eyes before. < Of 
course..> she told herself, < Last night, when I was looking 
at Earth, I saw him here..> she wondered how she remembered 
that… she could never remember a certain face before. Darien 
was looking back at her, those feelings of his turning over 
and over. Suddenly, he leaned forward, kissing her, lightly, 
on the lips. Serena's cheeks turned bright red, and her heart 
jumped up into her throat. Darien pulled away and she looked 
at him, wondering what that was for.
	" Hey, you two!!!!" they looked over at the girls, 
suddenly, " Can you come here?? Malakite, Nephlite, Jedite and 
Zoisite are here! They say there's something they need you for, 
Darien!" Raye called. Darien looked at Serena, then stood up. 
He extended his arm down to her. Serena slowly took his hand 
and he helped her up. The two of them walked over, both 
standing next to Raye. Raye looked at Serena, and noticed her 
holding a locket, < Huh???!> she asked herself, < That's 
Darien's.. The one Mother gave him.. He wouldn't give it 
away… unless….> Raye smiled, evilly, glancing at Darien. 

	" So, we'd like you to come… there's some people 
spreading strange rumors." Malakite finished. Darien had been 
listening intensely.
	" What kind of rumors?" he asked. Zoisite sighed out 
loud, looking directly at Darien, now. She hoped off her horse.
	" Prince, um, you may want to wait to hear about it.." he 
began, " And you too, princess." he said, looking at Raye.
	" Would it matter if we came along?" asked Lita, making 
a slight fist. All the generals knew the girls well, very well, 
at that. Them and the princess had been friends since they were 
all only six. Nephlite smiled.
	" We won't object." He said. Smiling, all the girls 
walked over. Mina walked next to Malakite, Lita next to 
Nephlite, Amy next to Zoisite, and Raye went next to Jedite. 
Serena was left standing. All the generals looking at her, 
wondering who she was. Raye followed their gaze.
	" Oh, this is our friend, Serenity. But we all call 
her Serena." All the generals smiled at her, Serena smiling 
back.
	" Welcome to their group, Serenity," began Malakite. 
They never used nick-names, " You'll love these girls as much 
as we do." Serena smiled as she saw all the girls blush.
	" Well, I do like them," Serena began, " And I wish I 
could stay, but.." she broke off. The generals were now at 
total loss.
	" You mean you can't stay?" asked Jedite. Serena nodded. 
Jedite looked at all the girls' sad faces and sighed.
	" Well, we best be off, your highnesses." Zoisite 
replied. Darien and Raye both nodded and began to walk. 
Serena walking next to Darien, well, maybe a little behind 
him, thinking of that kiss. She lifted her hand up and 
gently touched her lips. Suddenly, someone ran from behind 
a tree, slamming into Serena and knocking her to the ground. 
Darien, the generals, and the girls all gasped.
	" SERENA!" cried Darien and the girls, who all ran to 
her. Darien helped her up. Lita made a fist and turned to 
see Beryl standing there, an innocent look on her face, 
" Beryl?" asked Lita. Darien turned, surprised, himself.
 	" I'm sorry, I didn't see her…" Beryl said, obviously 
lying, " I just came because - - I'd like to have a word 
with Endymion!" she said, taking his arm.
	" Beryl," Darien argued, " Later! I'm going to town to…
" but, not listening, Beryl began to lead him off, chattering 
non-stop. Serena stood up, Raye and Amy examining her.
	" Are you okay?" asked Raye, slightly smiling. Serena 
nodded, " We're so sorry.. Beryl's head can get pretty high 
up in the clouds.. She's not always thinking.. And she's got 
this HUGE crush on Darien!" at that, for some reason, Serena 
shivered. As the girls began to walk away, she just stood, 
ready to turn, " Serena, you coming?" called Raye.
	" N-no, I'll wait.." Serena said. Raye then turned and 
walked on. Serena turned, also, looking toward where Beryl 
had lead Darien… She could make out two people, but the sun 
shown too bright to see much. She squinted. Then, a cloud 
blocked the sun, and Serena's heart stopped at the sight. 
There were Darien and Beryl, locked in a kiss. Serena wasn't 
breathing. Wasn't it Darien who had just kissed her? And 
now he was kissing Beryl? Tear gleamed in Serena's eyes. 
Suddenly, she bolted to the right, into the long field. 
	Finally, Darien pried Beryl off of him, " BERYL!!!" 
he cried, staring down at her, " What do you think you're 
doing?!!!!!!" Beryl looked up at him with big eyes.
	" Nothing, Endymion." She said. Darien opened his 
mouth to say something, but stopped. After a second he 
turned and ran in the direction Raye and the others had 
gone. Beryl smiled, evilly, " That'll teach her to try and 
steel my Endymion." She whispered, knowing that Serena had 
seen her kiss Darien.
	Serena was still running, tears staining and running 
down her white cheeks. She was sobbing, her heart pounding 
painfully against her chest, ready to break with the pain of 
what she had just seen, " How could I had thought such a 
thing?" she asked herself, " I really did think he liked me 
– loved me – but no one could love me… They can't… especially 
one who's from Earth.." she stopped running and sank to her 
knees, " No one would love me.. I'm not like my Mother.. I 
am made of light and moon beams, in addition to flesh and 
blood.. No one can love me.. And… It is forbidden.." she 
cupped her hands around her face,    " But… it seemed so 
real…. It couldn't…" She began to cry harder, < I knew I 
shouldn't have made any relationship.. Mother warned me.. 
I want to leave, now… Then I won't feel the pain of having 
to leave.." she looked up, with red eyes, at the sky. 
Suddenly, she turned totally white, " How..?" she whispered, 
scared, " How do I – get home?" she thought as hard as she 
could, but couldn't find an answer. 

	Darien finally caught up with the group, Raye looked 
startled to see him, " Oh, Darien… What did Beryl have to 
say?" she asked. Darien shook his head.
	" Never mind that… Where's Serena?!" he asked, looking 
around. Raye shrugged, a little confused.
	" She said she was waiting back for you.." Darien turned 
pale. Without another word he turned and ran again. He ran all 
the way back to where they had been before, wondering which 
way to go.
	" Uh-oh.." he whispered, " Curse that Beryl!! Why did 
she - -?" without finishing, he chose a way and ran. Toward 
the right. 

	Serena was sitting in the same spot, holding the golden 
star locket and looking at it. Tears were still barely in her 
eyes. Now, she noticed, the locket opened. She, slowly, lifted 
the top. Inside was a sheet of glass, covering a small 
crescent moon revolving around a middle ball. It played a 
beautiful melody, a calming melody. She closed her eyes, 
" I can't believe.." she whispered, now looking at the 
ground. 
	" Serena!" a voice called, startling her. She felt a 
tickling her chest, and her heart slowed. She new who it 
was, but didn't even want to see him, " Serena! Are you - 
-?" suddenly, when he was within five feet of her, Darien 
stopped. He looked at her position. Staring down at his 
locket, " Serena?" 
	" Please," Serena began, closing her eyes, " I do not 
wish to see you.. go away.." Darien felt broken now. Not 
listening, he walked over and kneeled by her, " Please.."
	" Serena," he began, " Are you okay?" he asked, 
soothingly. Unbelievably, just the sound of his voice made 
Serena feel a little better…
	" No! Of course not!" she cried, finally looking up 
at him with trembling glassy eyes, " First you kiss me, and 
then you kiss her! What am I supposed to do?" she asked, 
closing her eyes, " I didn't want this.. I tried my hardest 
avoid it.." she whispered. 
	" Why?" asked Darien, a bit confused, " Why do you 
want to avoid it?" he asked. Serena looked up at him 
again.
	" Because I'm going home tonight. At the light of the 
full moon. I told you that already.." her voice wasn't even 
above a whisper, " I knew that from the start - -." She 
looked off into the distance, " In fact.. I shouldn't have 
come at all.. It would have been better if I hadn't come 
here.." Darien had been looking at her, wanting to comfort 
her… but… he hardly knew her. These feelings had just taken 
over him the first tie he had seen her. It really was, he 
knew, love at first sight. 	
	" Serena.. I'm sorry if this hurt you, but… I didn't'…" 
he stopped. Serena looked up at him again, her eyes red from 
crying.
	" You didn't mean to? Is that what you were going to 
say?!" she asked, her voice shaking, " I wouldn't believe 
that.."
	" I didn't kiss her." He said, finally. Serena gave 
him a funny look, " She – kissed me…" now, he felt somewhat 
out of place saying that.
	" Wha - -." Now Serena remembered what Raye had said: 
That's Beryl - - she's got a huge crush on Darien! Serena 
was, again, just staring at nothing. Darien looked at her, 
hoping she wouldn't hate him forever, for this, " Oh.." 
Serena whispered, closing her eyes. Darien was completely 
surprised.
	" What?" he asked. Serena looked up at him, her face 
flushed. Her eyes were back to normal, they were now as blue 
as the sky. Darien looked deep into them.
	" I'm sorry - - for thinking that you - -.." Serena 
whispered. Darien put his hand on her shoulder, now smiling, 
slightly.
	" Actually, you had every right to." He said. 

	" Man! Where is he???!" Raye asked, pacing back and 
forth. It had been almost twenty minutes since they had 
arrived in the city, and Darien wasn't there - - neither 
was Serena, " He went to get Serena, but it couldn't have 
taken this long just to find her!"
	" Raye, calm down! Is it really a big deal? So this 
is the first time he's been late in, what, a year?" said 
Mina, winking, " Give him a break! It's usually you who's 
always late!"
	" Yeah, but these rumors are really bad! They say that 
the…" Raye began, but she stopped when Darien and Serena 
suddenly walked in, " THERE you are!!!" Raye ran up and 
grasped his arm, " Malakite was sure right! These rumors 
are terrible!"
	" What are they about, Raye?" asked Darien, surprised 
by her sudden cling to him. Raye let go and looked out the 
window.
	" It's all around. Not only in this city, but all 
around Earth." Darien looked at her, curiously. Raye turned 
to him, " Someone is spreading a rumor that the people on the 
Moon are spying on us!" Darien gasped.
	" Huh? That's stupid!" he said, " I mean, I know they 
watch over us, yeah, but what harm could come from that?" 
Raye shrugged.
	" Well," suddenly, Zoisite walked in, " harm HAS come. 
People are joining together, and are going to come to you for 
permission to go up to the moon themselves." He said, solemnly. 
Serena was staring, not believing what she was hearing.
	" Wha -? Who's telling them this? It can't be true!!" 
Darien said, making a fist, " The people on the Moon are 
peaceful, just like us!" Serena admired the way he was talking 
about her kingdom.
	" This is nuts!! I've only heard good things about the 
Moon before! Where did this come from?!" Mina demanded. 
	" Yeah, I agree. We've always trusted the Moon. Nothing 
bad has happened before!" Lita agreed to Mina.
	" Yes. I don't see how they could think such a thing! 
Even though we haven't really met the Moon Children we know 
they mean us no harm." Amy said. Raye nodded. Serena smiled. 
It was nice to know they weren't against her. 
	 " I don't know, Endymion.. It does seem quite 
suspicious… Them watching our every move like that.." Jedite 
mumbled. Darien turned to him.
	" They don't watch our every move!!" Serena blurted, 
" They only watch you to make sure everything's peaceful 
here!" Jedite looked at her.
	" Well, we don't know for sure…" Serena wasn't about 
to say that she actually did know for sure, not wanting to let 
them know where she came from.
	" Well, maybe if we just let it lay for a day or so, 
they'll forget about it. It's happened before." Raye stammered. 
Darien thought for a second.
	" Okay… but what do we do if they DON'T let it go?" he 
asked himself. Raye was also deep in thought. 

	Serena was standing out by the lake, looking up at the 
bright full moon in the sky, " How do I get to you? And tell 
you what's happening?" she asked, " I don't remember.." 	
	" Serena?" she turned around, only to see Darien, 
" You're not going home, I take it..?" Serena didn't answer 
at first. She glanced up at the moon.
	" First," she began, " I have to contact my Mother, 
somehow.." she began, smiling. Darien, smiled, too.
	" Do you know how?" he asked. Serena shook her head, 
" Where do you live… besides far away?" he asked.
	" I'm not to say.." Serena whispered.
	" Okay.." Darien began, " You're welcome to stay with 
us until you can contact your Mother, if you like." Serena 
smiled.
	" I'd love that!" she spat, but then caught herself, 
" If - - it's not too much trouble.." she corrected herself.
	" It's no trouble! We've got plenty of extra rooms." 
He said. A cool breeze made Serena shiver," Oh, you cold??"
	" A little." Serena answered. Darien took off his 
cape and, surprising Serena, draped it over her shoulders, 
" Ah… Oh, no! I couldn't!!" she began, starting to take it 
off.
	" It's okay!" Darien insisted, smiling lightly, " It's 
not likely I'll get cold. I've got long sleeves you don't.. 
It's only fair." He giggled. Serena smiled. Slowly, she 
wrapped the cape around her so she felt snuggled and warm. 
	" Thank you." She said. She noticed Darien was looking 
up at the moon, and she followed his gaze.
	" Do you ever wish you could go see the Moon?" he asked. 
Serena smiled and nodded, " I always have… It's kind of silly… 
But, a few nights ago, I thought I saw a face on the Moon.." 
Serena closed her eyes, knowing exactly what her was talking 
about. 

	Beryl was hiding behind a nearby tree, watching Serena 
and Darien, " Endymion, give me a break! You can't be in love 
with her!" she whispered, looking closer. She leaned forward, 
onto a fallen branch. Suddenly, the branch broke and with a 
slight cry of surprise she fell forward to the ground.

	Serena jumped at the sound Beryl had made, " Yaah!" she 
gave a slight cry, looking over to the tree, " What was that?" 
she whispered, leaning in on Darien, half in fright half 
oblivious to it. Darien giggled.
	" Probably just a rabbit of something." He said, 
smiling. Serena sighed. She was really jumpy tonight, for some 
reason. She giggled, too, and looked up at him.
	" Something pretty stupid to get scared over, huh?" 
she giggled. Once again, they became locked in a gaze. 
Almost unconsciously they leaned forward and kissed. This 
time, it wasn't only Darien giving her a kiss, she was 
kissing back.
	Beryl gasped, " E – Endymion.." she whispered, her 
eyes filling with tears, " But – but.." she whispered. She 
really was truly in love with Endymion. Ever since she had 
first come to the palace and met him. Everyone knew, but 
said it was only a crush. But that wasn't it. She stood and 
began to run back, crying, " Endymion.." she kept repeating, 
between sobs. She stopped and sank down by the lake, looking 
at her reflection, " Why doesn't he love me?" she whispered. 
She had long red hair, crimpy and about down to her ankles. 
Her eyes were beautiful and dark, while her face was a bright 
peach, " Endymion.." she sobbed. Suddenly, a face other than 
Beryl's appeared in the water. Beryl jumped back in fright.
	" Beryl," the thing hissed. Beryl stared at it, fear 
in her eyes, " Beryl…" it repeated, in a hiss again.
	" Who – what – are you?" asked Beryl. The face smiled.
	" I am Queen Metilia." It answered, " Queen of the 
Negaverse." Beryl still only stared, " Join me, Beryl, join 
me and we can rule all!" Beryl didn't understand.
	" But.. I want to be with Endymion.." she whispered. 
Metilia smiled evilly at poor Beryl, in a frightening way.
	" And you shall. Once you make him see what he is 
doing he will come with you." Now, Beryl was listening, 
" That young lady he is with is from the Moon." 
	" The moon?!" asked Beryl, " Then… he can't be with 
her!" her eyes became filled with hope, " He will come back 
to me once he finds out!"
	" No." Metilia interrupted, " He won't. But, once he 
sees how much power you have he will come. I can give you 
more power than you could ever dream of having!" Beryl was 
trembling, " And he will be yours. You will have everything 
you desire. And then, you and he can conquer the universe 
together!" Beryl stared at the thing, Metilia, and nodded.
	" Alright." 

	Serena and Darien pulled apart and looked at each 
other, deeply into the other's eyes. Serena was ripping 
herself apart by doing this. He was from Earth she was from 
the Moon. It was a rule that they couldn't be together. She 
backed away, slightly.
	" What's wrong?" asked Darien.
	" I can't.." Serena whispered, looking at the ground, 
" I'm a…" suddenly, a black blast of energy blasted Serena 
over. She screamed in pain as she hit ground.
	" Serena!!" Darien ran over and kneeled by her, 
sitting her up, " Serena?" Serena opened her eyes and looked 
at him.
	" Wha – what was that?!" she asked. 
	" It was me, Moon Child." A strange voice hissed. 
Darien looked behind them. A girl, with long red hair that 
went down to her ankles was standing there. A crown was on 
her head, a staff in her hand, and a she was wearing a tight 
long black dress.
	" B – Beryl?" he asked, not believing this, " Is that 
you?" the woman's face curled into an evil smile.
	" Yes, Endymion. And I've come to take you with me. So 
we can rule everything together." She hissed. Darien just 
stared at her.
	" Beryl - - what happened to you? You look so - -.." 
he didn't know what she looked like. Beryl was still 
smiling.
	" I'm more powerful." She said, "Come with me, Endmion! 
Queen Metilia will give you power! We will conquer 
everything!"
	" Darien?! Serena?!! - - Beryl..?!!!!" Serena, Darien, 
and Queen Beryl all looked over to see Lita, Mina, Amy, and 
Raye standing there, " Oh, God! Serena, what happened?!" they 
all rushed forward.
	" Back!" Beryl held a hand up and the girls al flew 
backwards, to Darien's complete and total horror.
	" Amy, Mina, Lita, RAYE!" he cried, getting ready to 
stand. Serena sat up, and stood, with Darien's help, " Beryl, 
stop this! What's wrong with you?!" he asked.
	" Nothing is wrong! This Moon Child tried to take you 
away! And I've come to take you back." She said. Darien was 
wordless for a second.
	" M – M – Moon – Ch – Child..?" he asked, looking at 
Serena. Serena couldn't even look at him. With tears in her 
eyes she looked at the ground. Beryl laughed.
	" Endymion, don't you see? We do belong together! She 
was leading you on to heart break! Come with me, and we can 
destroy those evil Moon Children together!" Darien looked at 
her.
	" No. I don't want to destroy them. Have they done us 
any type of harm??" he asked, making a fist, " Beryl, 
whoever has made you think this… Snap out of it!"
	" Endymion, join me!!" Beryl cried. Darien didn't 
move. Beryl looked so angry that her eyes turned red. In 
rage she turned and shot a blast at Serena. Who didn't even 
move to dodge.
	" SERENA!" Darien cried, jumping in the way. But right 
before the blast hit him, Serena, Darien, Amy, Raye, Mina, 
and Lita all disappeared in a flash of light.   

	They reappeared in a strange palace, a bright and 
silver palace. Serena was the first to stand, then Darien, 
and they ran over to the others, " Amy, Raye? Mina? Lita?" 
Serena whispered. All the girls opened their eyes.
	" Huh? Where are we? What is this place?" asked Raye, 
sitting up, " What are we doing here??" Serena was about 
to say, but she was interrupted.
	" Oh, Serenity? What happened to you?!" she turned 
around, only to see her Mother, Queen Serenity, standing 
there with a worried look on her face. Serena now noticed 
that her dress was torn in various places from when Beryl 
had shot her.
	" Oh… Mother, I'm fine… How did you know - -?" Queen 
Serenity's worriedness turned into slight anger in a moment.
	" Serenity, I told you that you were to call me." 
Serena looked at the ground, " I was looking down on Earth 
for you when I saw what was happening… and…" she choked. 
Darien looked up at her.
	" L – looking down on Earth..? Are we on the Moon..?" 
he asked. Queen Serenity looked at him and nodded.
	" Why..? I thought we couldn't come here.." Mina began, 
standing. Amy, Raye, and Lita all stood, too.
	" You can't. But I am Queen Serenity." Queen Serenity 
began, " And you may know me better as Selene." Mina gasped. 
It was earlier that day that she had been talking about the 
Moon Goddess.. And now she was talking to her? " I brought 
you here to keep you from getting hurt. And I have something 
to tell you girls." All the girls stood up straight.
	" You are not from Earth," the Queen began, " Mina, 
you are from Venus." Mina looked shocked and took a step 
forward.
	" Venus? But, I have a family on Earth! I know I 
do.." she objected.
	" Lita, you are from Jupiter." The Queen seemed to pay 
Mina no mind, " Amy, you are from Mercury." She looked at 
Raye.
	" No.. I AM from Earth… I'm the princess.." she said, 
as sure of herself as she's ever been. The Queen smiled.
	" You are the princess, but not of Earth," Raye looked 
confused, " You are of Mars." Raye looked at Endymion, " You 
are all princesses of you own planets. They were attacked, 
twelve years ago by an evil force… All of your parents were 
killed, but you were never found. Some people had taken each 
of you to Earth, to protect you, and you have grown up there. 
I thought I had driven the evil away, but it seems I have 
not." All the girls looked at her, blankly.
	" Then.. my family isn't my real family..?" Mina 
whispered.
	" I'm from a different planet? An alien?" asked Lita.
	" I don't belong on Earth?" asked Amy. They were all 
near tears. Raye was standing, looking at the floor.
	" I'm not really princess of Earth? It's all a lie..?" 
she whispered. Darien felt broken again. Slowly, he walked 
over and put his hands on her shoulders.
	" Raye?" he asked. Raye looked at him with tears in her 
eyes, " Even if your not born into my family, you still are 
my sister." He said. Raye smiled, slightly. Then, she leaned 
forward and hugged him. Serena smiled.
	" Serenity." The Queen said. Serena turned around, " I'd 
like to have a word with you." Serena felt her heart drop. 
But, she followed her Mother into the next room.
	" Yes?" she whispered. The Queen gave her a sort of 
glare.
	" I've told you about making relationships with anyone 
from Earth.." she whispered, " Now, these girls as your 
friends I can understand. But, him?" she caught Serena's eyes, 
" He - - you can't, Serenity." She said. Serena looked at the 
ground.
	" No.. I can't help it.." she whispered, " I don't know 
why… I'm just.." she broke off. Queen Serenity looked at her.
	" Serenity, dear, I'm sorry, but you two can't be 
together." She said. Suddenly, two cats burst into the 
room.
	" Queen Serenity!" the black one shouted. Darien and 
the girls jumped back.
	" AH! That cat talked!!!!" Lita cried. The cats, not 
even noticing them, ran into the room where Serena and Queen 
Serenity were.
	" Queen Serenity! Word is Earth is planning to attack!!" 
shouted the white one. Queen Serenity looked a little 
surprised at this. Darien had over heard and walked in.
	" What?! Since when?!" he asked.
	" Luna, Artemis, are you sure?" asked the Queen. The 
cats nodded, " It's a little soon…" she began, glancing at 
Darien, " Young man, you have power over them? Will you 
please try and convince them otherwise?" Darien opened his 
mouth to say something, but Serena spoke first.
	" They won't listen, Mother.. I could almost sense it 
when I was there - -." She began. Darien looked at her, 
strangely. The Queen looked at the ground.
	" What do we do? I won't have the help of the other 
planets, this time… they're gone.." she began, worriedly. 
Serena didn't know what she was talking about. Queen 
Serenity looked at Luna and Artemis,  "Luna, Artemis," 
she said, " Please, where do you see this?" she asked. Then, 
after a second, the cats lead her off. Serena and Darien 
were left standing. Serena sat in a chair, still not 
believing Earth would ever attack them.
	" We only watch over Earth.." she whispered, closing 
her eyes, " We never meant to harm it.. Mother and I are 
it's guardians.." she whispered. Darien looked down at her.
	" Neither of you did anything," he said, " I don't 
know who started this.. but I'll find out!" he said, 
determination in his voice. Serena looked up at him. 
	" But.. If they're all turned against you.. you won't 
be able to do anything.." she said, shakily, " I wonder if 
this was all because I went to Earth - -?" Darien looked at 
her again.
	" Don't think that!" he said.
	" Then why? Why is this happening? I always admired 
your planet.. I never even thought you would turn against 
us.. Even if it's not their fault.."
