As many people know, in the manga, it says that the four inner scouts,
and the four generals, were lovers in the Silver Millenium. Since i have
never read the mangas,i have to assume this is true. The pairs were
Mercury and Zoisite, Mars and Jeadite, Jupiter and Nephlite, and Mina and
Malachite. My story has to do with the relationship between Sailor Mars
a.k.a. Hino Rei, and Jeadite. For a certain reason, which you will read
about, Jeadite has to come back, get Rei to forgive him, and make her
fall in love with him again. Simple right? Well not when you are talking 
about Hino Rei forgiving someone that she is really pissed off at. This
story takes place right in kind of an alternate time. The way i did it
was as follows.(This part contains spoilers for those who have not seen
the whole first season.) As most of you know, Zoisite and Malachite were
lovers so malachite was pretty pissed off when beryl killed Zoisite. Here
is where it gets a little strange. Since Malachite was so upset, he took
it upon himself to avenge Zoiy's death, and he went an killed Queen
Beryl. So now he is ruling the Negaverse ok? Then the scouts eventualy
kill him, but they are not reborn or anything like that. No one dies in
this version ok? I am sorry if that was a little confusing but i hope you
understand. Anyway here is the story. Please e-mail me at

Ok before we begin there is just a few disclaimers so just bare with me
ok? 

1.)  First off all of the characters of Sailor Moon are not copyrighted
to me. They are copyrighted to the creator of SM, so don't sue me k? You
would not be getting that much. 
2.)  This story, however, is copyrighted to me, Pekkle9983, which means
you are not allowed to steal my idea. You can, however, post this story
without permission. Just please give me credit, with an e-mail address to
Pekkle9983. 
3.)  Before I start, I just want to acknowledge a few people. Strike
Fiss, Chris Davies, and Alina are the best fanfic writers to walk the
face of this earth! Strike Fiss's best piece is "SMAR." Chris Davies
wrote the famous "Rei Trilogy," and "Serena and Luna: The new
Adventures." Alina has written "Guardians of the Millenium" which has
branched off into four parts. They are wonderful and worth 
checking out. These authors are the best and have inspired me to write
this fanfic.(*Note: you can find their addresses at the bottom of this
page.) 
4.)  Ok this is my first attempt at writing a fanfic of any kind so go
easy on me ok? I am not sure if people will like this so I would really
really really appriciate any comments you might have good or bad. If you
do not like the story though,and want to tell me, please let me know what
you did noy liky about it, so i know for next time. Thats another thing.
I am not sure if I should continue writing stories. Its a lot of work and
is not one enjoys them, i will not waste my time. Please e-

5.)  I was going to use Japanese names but I like the American ones
better, so I used those, except on Raye and Amy. The difference in theirs
is slight. Raye becomes Rei, and Amy becomes Ami. Ok? Aorry to mix with
the names but it just worked out that way. 
6.)  I am a huge Rei fan and that is why this fanfic pretty much centers
on her and her relationship with Jeadite. Since my fav character is
Sailor Mars, in this story I am not out to make her a bitch. She can be
really nice, as Chris Davies stories point out, and this fic is going to
stress that point. If you have any problems with that, you can leave now.
I won't mind. 
7.)  I just want to apologize ahead of time for any typos or spelling
errors. I have proof read this over and over so there should not be any
more errors. Also please do not bug me if any I, is lower case. I try to
make it capitalized but it does not always work. So live with it. 

Courage Under Fire Part 1~The Remembrance By Meagan Kappler 
 
Chapter One 

From her position on the bed in Serena's room Luna could hear Serena call
out, "I'll be back soon mom, I am just going over Rei's to borrow some
comics!" 

"Ok Serena, just make sure you are home in time for dinner." 'Serena miss
dinner?' 

Thought Luna. 'Now there is something I would pay to see!' Luna laughed
to herself as she settled back down to sleep. 

"La, la, la, la," Serena sang happily as she climbed the stairs to the
temple and ran inside. "Hi grandpa," she called. "Is Rei in her room, ok
thanks bye," and she was gone before grandpa was able to answer. Just as
Serena was about to run into Rei's room she heard a noise. It sounded
like someone was crying, and it was coming from Rei's room! Now Serena
had only know Rei a few days but in those few days she learned one thing
about Rei very quickly. She did not cry. It was as simple as 
that. Oh sure she cried on the inside maybe, but never on the outside.
The only emotions Rei showed were anger, and friendship. 'Well maybe Rei
has a friend over who is upset about something,' Serena thought, even
though she knew that was untrue. Rei had told her and Ami that she never
really had any friends before she became a scout. Everyone thought of her
as that weird psychic girl. So unless it was Ami in there, Rei crying.
Sure enough when Serena looked through the slit in the doorway, she saw
no one but Rei who was sitting there crying. Serena thought about going
in and decided against it. She figured it was none of her business and 
turned to leave, but then a name caught her ear and she turned back for a
moment. 

Rei was talking out loud to herself and Serena couldn't help but listen.
"I don't get it," Rei said. "Why do I feel such an attraction to him?
First off he is the enemy! And second I have absolutely no idea who he
is. So why is it that every time we are fighting Jeadite, I feel like in
just want him to hold me in his arms forever?" Serena's eyes became as
wide as dinner plates. "Rei is in love with Jeadite?" she thought. "I
just wish I could figure out who he is, and what he means to me. This 
is driving me crazy!" Rei yelled. Serena took this as her cue to exit. 

Back at the Tsukino house Luna was waking up from her nap just as Serena
walked in. "Back so soon?" Luna asked. 

"Uh...yeah, Rei was feeling to well so I decided to let her rest." "Uh,
Luna?" Serena asked. 

"Yes?" 

"Can I ask you a question?" 

"Go ahead Serena" "Well, back in the silver millenium did General Jeadite
mean anything to Princess Mars?" 

"What brought this up Serena" Luna questioned. "Well when I said Rei
wasn't feeling well, that was entirely true. What happened was when I got
there and was outside her room she was crying." 

"Rei crying?" 

"That was what I thought too. Anyway as I turned to leave, I heard her
murmur the name Jeadite. I couldn't leave then so I kinda listened in." 

"Serena!" exclaimed Luna. "You should not have done that!" 

"I know" Serena answered. "But I couldn't help it. Anyway Rei feels that
Jeadite is somewhat connected to her. So I was wondering if maybe in the
Silver Millenium…." 

"I see, " said Luna. "Well actually yes, as I remember, General Jeadite
and Princess Mars were very close. They were friends from the time they
were little and remained the best of friends for many years. If i
remember correctly he was the only person that was as close to Mars as
the princess was. Then the war came, and everything changed. Jeadite was
taken by Beryl and brainwashed to serve her. After that Rei never forgave
him, and she never forgave herself. She kept talking aobut how she had to
tell him something. After that she never go very close to any. She was
afraid of rejection." Luna said. 

"Wow," said Serena. "How horrible! Poor Rei!" 

"Yes," agreed Luna. "But you mustn't say anything to Rei!" 

"Who me?" Serena asked with a gleam in her eye. 


Chapter Two

"It is really spooky in here," Venus commented. 

"Yeah so lets just go in there, kick some Negaverse butt, and get the
hell outta here," Jupiter replied. 

"So did you miss me so much you decided to come visit me at home?" The 
scouts all jumped and turned to see whom the voice belonged to. 

"Malachite!" Mercury said shocked. 

"This ends now Malachite," Sailor Moon said. 

"Awww, what's wrong? Do you miss you little princie???"

"That's it!" Moon yelled. She held up the moon wand and started to shout. 
"Moon Power Acccctiiiiivaaaationnnnn!!!!!!" She yelled it with such force
that the wand turned Malachite to dust. 

"Great job Sailor Moon. Now lets find a way out of this dump," said Mars. 

The scouts walked around for a few minutes until they came across a weird
life-size crystal. "What is that thing?" Moon asked. 

Mercury, already typing away on her computer answered, "Its a torture
chamber that was used by Beryl." 

"How could that thing be used to torture people?" Venus asked. 

"Well actually it could on be used on one person. It's the crystal of
eternal sleep. Whoever is put in there sleeps forever. They can think,
and they can remember things, but they can not wake up, not unless
someone breaks the spell. Otherwise they are stuck between life and death
forever." 

"That's awful! Even being dead would be better. At least then you could
just die, but this, this is horrible," replied Jupiter. "Can you tell us
who is in there now Mercury?" Venus questioned softly. "Yes hold
on...right now, in that crystal the person is..." she looked at Mars and
Moon before answering. "Its Jeadite." 

Sailor Moon quickly thought back to the time Mars had been crying. She
quickly glanced over at her to see how she was taking the news. Sailor
Mars was completely silent just staring at the crystal stiffly. Sailor
Mercury looked sick knowing that she had helped put Jeadite where he now
was. 

"Um... I think we should try to get home now shouldn't we?" Jupiter asked 
wondering why Moon, Mercury, and Mars were suddenly so upset. "Jeez," she 
said, "One would think you guys were in love with him or something!" At
this Sailor Moon's head, which was bowed in respect, snapped up. He eyes
became huge as they glanced quickly to Mars' reaction. As soon as Jupiter
said this, Mars' head snapped away from the crystal so quickly it almost
spun. Her back was turned to the scouts but Moon could see her subtly
trying to dry her eyes. 

'How could Jupiter have said that? Doesn't she have any respect?' Sailor
Moon thought. She then realized that Jupiter and Venus were not affected
by this news at all. 'Of course not' thought Moon. 'Why would they be?
They never fought him. They never had to kill him or want to kill him.
They didn't put him in here. They never had to see Mars-Chan's face when
she had stuck the anti-evil sign on his head. Or even worse, his face
after she did.' 

"Sailor Moon???" Mercury called. "What? Oh yeah sorry. Lost in memories.
So lets try teleporting out of here ok everyone?" Everyone formed a
circle and shouted, "Sailor Teleport!" Everyone was home shortly. 



The next day the girls decided to hold a meeting at the temple to discuss
what they should do now that the dark kingdom was dead. As usual Serena
was late. As she rushed up the stairs with Luna following she covered her
ears expecting to hear Rei scream at her for being late again. She heard
nothing. She uncovered her ears and looked around. Rei was just sitting
there not even noticing whether Serena was there or not. 

"Hey Serena it's about time!" Mina called. "Lets start this meeting."
Serena sat down and everyone started talking. After telling the cats
everything that had happened, Serena asked a question. 

"What would happen," she began, watching Rei out of the corner of her eye
the whole time. "If we were to bring a Negaverse general out of an
eternal sleep?" 

"How do you even know about eternal sleep?" Artemis asked. 

"When we were in the Negaverse yesterday we passed by the crystal,
holding the general inside it." 

"Which general was it?" Luna asked. 

"Jeadite," Serena answered. 

Suddenly Luna understood. She looked around the room to see Ami, Serena,
and Rei all upset. 

"I still don't get it!" said Lita. 

"Yeah what is the big deal with this Jeadite guy anyway." Mina asked. 

"Luna could you please explain to them?" Serena asked. 

"Do you want me to tell them everything?" she asked. 

"Would someone please explain?" Artemis asked. 

"Ok, Ok. I will tell you the entire whole story. First let me just say
that if we brought Jeadite back, and Serena can do that with the crystal,
he would become good again. He would no longer be under Beryl's hold and
would be on our side. But enough of that. Let me tell you the story.
Before Lita came, and before Mina came, the scouts battled their first
Negaverse general." Luna started. "Jeadite. It took them a while to work
as a team. They were all still getting used to their powers and working
together. Anyway to make a long story a bit shorter, the scouts wereable
to trap him one day, the day that Beryl had told Jeadite was his 
last chance to diminish the scouts. Jeadite failed. Beryl had enough with
him and put him in eternal sleep. Serena and Ami are upset because he was
never really evil. He was taken by no choice of his own and turned evil.
He died for no reason. They blame themselves because they could have
healed him when they had the chance, but they didn't. Rei however, is
upset for a different reason I think right?" 

"What are you talking about Luna?" Rei questioned. "I was and still am
upset because of the same reason that Serena and Ami are. Also because I
was the one that put the anti-evil sign on him which sent him back which
killed him!" 

'And because you are in love with him.' Serena silently thought. 

"So if he would become good, why don't we bring him back?" asked Lita. 

"Now that I think about it, it does not seem like such a great idea,"
spoke Serena. "I mean you know me, always spurting out some silly idea
without thinking it through." 

"Well no offense Serena but as true as that usually is, this time it is
actually a really good idea," said Mina. 

"What could possibly be wrong with it?" 

"Well it's just that I am not sure if the three of us would be that
comfortable working with a former enemy. He could turn any minute." 

"But he would be good then!" Lita argued. "He will not suddenly turn bad
again. 

"What I think Serena is trying to say is that he used to be good in the
Silver Millenium too, but he turned on us then too." Ami supplied. 

Serena cringed at that thinking of Rei. "Uh yeah that's what I was trying
to say. Thanks Ami." Serena replied. 

"But," Ami continued,"Jeadite really doesn't have an evil side to turn
to. I mean Tuxedo Mask is evil but once we get him back we are not
worried about him turning on us are we?" 

At this Serena's eyes filled with tears over the loss of Darien. But she
quickly dried them and kept up her fight. "No!" She stubbornly relpied.
"We can not bring him back!" 

"Lets ask Rei what she thinks on it." Lita suggested. 

Rei however jsut said, "um sorry but my opinion isn't going to help much.
I really don't care whether or not he becomes good, or stays there
forever." Everyone was shocked at Rei's cold tone. "

"How about this," Lita suggested. "Apparently Serena knows a different
reason for why we should not bring Jeadite back. How about we let her
decide and tell us?" 

Everyone agreed. 'Oh boy, this is going to be a long night.' thought
Serena.


 
Chapter Three

That night as Serena was getting ready to go to sleep, she had a visitor.
Her mother. A shimmering light started to form in front of Serena. 'Whoa
what is that?' she thought. Slowly an image of a person formed. It was a
holographic image of her mother from the Moon Kingdom. "Mother!" Serena
cried. 

"My sweet Serena," she answered. "I have come to offer my help in making
the decision of whether or not you should bring Jeadite back. The real
reason you do not want to bring him back is because of Rei, am I
correct?" Serena glumly shook her head yes. "I think I can solve that
problem. I am going to bring you to a scene in the future. Are you
ready?" Serena shook her head once more and off they went. 



~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Crystal Tokyo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 

"Where are we?" Serena questioned 

"This is Crystal Tokyo." Her mother answered. 

"Wow. This is what I am going to rule one day." 

"Yes dear. But I will give you a tour another time. First we must go see
someone." They walked up to a huge castle and just floated through the
door. 

"Are we ghosts?" Serena asked. 

"Not exactly but we are just spirits. Not one can see us or hear us."
They walked up a long staircase to reach a room. They went in and saw
Princess Mars sitting on her bed. In her hand Serena could see a picture
of Jeadite. She could also see that Rei was crying. 

"Why is she crying?" Serena asked her mother. "Watch and you will see
what will happen if you do not bring Jeadite back." her mother replied.
Serena watched in horror as Rei cried over the picture muttering to
herself. "Why?" she asked. "Why didn't I agree to letting him come back?"
Serena looked at Rei her eyes filling with tears. 

She turned to her mother and said, "Please I can't take anymore of this.
Let's leave please." 

"Would you like to see what will happen if Rei does forgive Jeadite?" her
mother asked. Serena shook her head yes. Suddenly they were in a church.
Music started to play and everyone rose. They looked towards the back
where Rei was entering...wearing a wedding gown. Serena looked towards
the front of the church where, just as she expected, Jeadite stood,
shining happily, waiting for his bride. Before Serena could blink, they
were back in her room again, back in the present. 

"So, to make Rei and Jeadite happy," Serena slowly began, "I have to
bring Jeadite back, and help make Rei forgive him?" She turned to her
mother for the answer only to discover she was gone. 

'Whom were you talking to?" Luna asked as she walked in yawning. 

"Oh just talking to myself," Serena said laughing. Luna rolled her eyes
and curled 

up on the bed. "Oh Luna," Serena called. Luna opened her eyes, 

"Yes?" 

"I decided to bring Jeadite back." 

"What made you change your mind?" 

"Let's just say it was some good advice from an old friend."

Chapter Four

"Bye Mom, bye Dad, see you guys in a few weeks!" Serena called to her
parents as they drove away. She closed the door with a great sigh. "Yes!
Two whole weeks without parents, without a brother, just you and me
Luna!" Serena cried happily. 

"Yes," Luna said dryly. "What fun. And since you are here by yourself,
don't you think this would be a good time to bring Jeadite back? That way
you can bring him here, and explain everything to him without any family
members around." 

"Oh Luna do I have to?" Serena whined. "Everyone just left I want to go
back to sleep." 

"Serena!" 

"Ok, ok I am going. Remember, do not say anything to the other scouts
until I get back!" 

"Don't you think you should at least tell the others where you are
going?" Luna asked. 

"No. Then Rei will find out and try to stop me. I don't want her to know
what I am doing until Jeadite is back, and everything is explained to
him. That way he can tell her his story." 

"Oh I am sure Rei will love that," said Luna. 

"Hush Luna it will work, trust me. Now how do I get to the Negaverse?" 

“Transform then close your eyes and wish yourself there. Do the same
thing when you are ready to come back. Hold hands with Jeadite, and wish
yourself back here. Good Luck" 

Serena nodded her head confidently. 'Ok,' she thought. 'That does not
sound to hard.' In a matter of moments she was on her way. Serena opened
her eyes to find out she was in the Negaverse. "It worked," she said out
loud. "It really worked! Ok now to find that crystal." Serena walked
around for what seemed like hours. "Where is that stupid crystal!" she
yelled. She turned the corner and almost walked into something. 'Stupid
rock,' she thought, 'It's so big no wonder I didn't kill myself 
on it.' Serena continued walked wondering where the crystal was when
suddenly she hit her head. "Duh!" She said, "That big rock was the
crystal!" Serena turned around and ran back towards where she had seen
the "stupid rock". Serena looked at it for a few minutes before bringing
out the Moon Wand. Then holding it up high, she muttered a few words, and
the crystal shattered. Serena screamed as a large piece flew right
towards her. Just as it was about to hit, it dissolved into air, as did 
all the other pieces. Serena looked up to see Jeadite fall over out of
the crystal. She ran over and caught him just in time. He opened his eyes
and looked at her. 

Suddenly his eyes became wide with recognition. "Serena?" he whispered
and without waiting for an answer, fell asleep in her arms. 

"Yeah," she whispered. "It's me. Lets get you home."



Chapter Chapter Five

Jeadite opened his eyes and looked around to see he was in a place
painted very bright. To one side of him was a window, the other was a
doorway. 'Where am I?' He thought.' I don't remember the Negaverse being
this bright.' 

'Finally!" He heard a voice call out. You're awake! He sat up to see
someone looking at him cheerfully. 

"Serena?" he asked. 

"Wow you remembered huh? Anyway I guess you are wondering what you are 
doing here right?" Jeadite weakly shook his head. "Ok here goes. The
scouts were walking through the Negaverse, there is five scouts now,
trying to kill Malachite which we accomplished, and then we were trying
to get home and we came across the crystal of eternal sleep thing that
you were in so Ami started typing on her computer and we found out you
were in there and then Rei and Ami and me were all upset so I had the
idea to bring you out of eternal sleep and then Jupiter and Venus agreed
with me but then Rei was really upset so I said it was a stupid idea so
everyone told me to decide what we should do and I didn't know until my
mother from the moon visited me and took me to the future where I saw Rei
crying and saying she was still in love with you so I figured I had to go
back and get you so I could make Rei happy so I went and got you and then
you fell asleep and so I brought you here and here you are. Got it?" 

Jeadite just stared at her confused as he could possibly be. "Uh...ok,"
he said. "Can I ask you a few questions?" "Sure go ahead," said Serena.
"Ok first of all what happened to everyone else in the Negaverse?" 

"Ok. After Beryl killed you, she sent Nephlite, but Zoisite killed him,
then Beryl killed Zoisite and to avenger her death, Malachite killed
Beryl, and then we killed Malachite." 

"Ok, I think I got all that," said Jeadite. 

"Good, next question!" Serena replied. "Why did you say Rei was in love
with me?" 

Serena's eyes got huge. 'You mean you don't remember the Silver
Millenium?" she asked. 

"Of course I remember. But even in the silver millenium we were never in
love! She was my best friend since childhood." 

"Are you sure that that is all she was to you?" Serena asked. 

Jeadite was silent for a moment. "Ok maybe, maybe I did have other
feelings for her," Jeadite admitted. "But there was no way she was in
love with me!" 

"Yes," said Serena. "She was in love with you. She still is you know." 

Now it was Jeadite's turn to become shocked. "Rei is and was in love with
me?" he asked. 

"Well she has never actually come out and said it, but I know she is,
trust me. I am her best friend, I can tell about these things." 

"So does she know that I am back?" Jeadite asked. 

"Actually none of the scouts know you are back yet. I figured we would
find a place for you to stay, let you rest, and then have a meeting with
the scouts so we can tell everyone the story and you can meet everyone.''
Serena said. 

"So where am I staying?" 

"Well," Serena said. "Since you obviously can't stay here, I had to come
up with another place. Since Darien is still gone, and I have a key to
his apartment, I figured you could just stay there." 

"Wait," Jeadite started. "Where is Darien?" 

Serena's gaze dropped down to the floor. "Oh yeah...you weren't here. Uh,
he was brainwashed and kidnapped by the negaverse. He is still in there." 

"What!?" Jeadite cried. 'Are you serious?" 

Serena shook her head yes. "Oh Serena," he said, "I am so sorry." 

Serena's head snapped up at this. "What are you sorry for?" she asked.
The fact that the person you love is stuck in the Negaverse right now!" 

"Yeah well it's ok, I mean we area going to get him back eventually it's
just that right now there were more important things."

 Jeadite sat there silently as he realized that the "more important
things" were him and his relationship with Rei.

"Oh Serena," he said. 'You didn't have to do that you know?" 

"Do what," she said, "I didn't do anything." 

"Yes you did." He said. "You sacrificed time with your love to help out
your best friend and someone you barely know." 

"Yeah I guess," she said. "Well I only did it 'cause I felt bad for Rei
and since she is my best friend, I guess I would pretty much do anything
for her, especially because she would have done the same for me." Serena
said getting teary eyed. "Anyway here is the key. He lives on 441 White
Ave in Apartment 3B. I will let you rest and then call the rest of the
scouts over." Serena said. 

"Uh…sure, that's fine." Jeadite said. The two got up and walked to the
front door. "Oh and by the way Serena," Jeadite said as he was closing
the door. 

"Yeah?" 

"Thank you, and don't worry, we'll get him back!" Serena smiled as she
closed the door.




Chapter Six

Serena hit the call button on her communicator and called Ami. "Hey Ami!
Scout meeting, my house in a few minutes can you come?" 

'Yeah sure. How come its not at the temple?" 

"Rei doesn't and isn't going to know about the meeting. I will explain
later just don't tell her. See you later!" and she was gone. Serena sent
the same message to Lita and Mina and within 15 minutes all the scouts,
minus Rei were gathered at the Tsukino household. 

"Ok now can you explain why we are having this meeting and why Rei can
not know about it?" Ami asked. 

"Well I can tell why we are having the meeting, but for why she can't
know about it, someone else is going to have to help me explain that.
First let me call them and tell them to come. Then I will explain."
Serena got the phone and dialed Darien's number. "Hello, it's Serena."
She paused then continued. "Ok everyone is here so you can come over now
and meet everyone." Pause, "No she still doesn't know. I figured you
might want to explain ok? Ok bye." Serena went back to her friends. "Ok
here is what this meeting is for. I decided to bring Jeadite back..." 
She was interrupted when the three scouts started talking. 

"That great!" said Lita. 

"Yeah, what made you change your mind?" Mina asked. 

"I will get to that. Just let me explain. Earlier today I went to the
Negaverse, and brought Jeadite back. I explained the story to him, but in
a little more detail then you guys know it. That is who I was on the
phone with just now. He is on his way over to meet everyone." At that the
doorbell rang. Serena went to answer the door. "Hi come in and meet
everyone," she said. Jeadite walked in and sat down with everyone else.
"Ok let me introduce you to everyone." Serena said. 

"Wait," said Jeadite. "Ami, Mercury, Mina, Venus, and Lita, Jupiter." He
said pointing to the right people for each. 

"How did you know that?" Ami asked. 

"Well I remembered Ami from the airport, and for Mina and Lita, I was
never reborn after the silver millenium. I remember it." 

"So are you the person that is supposed to explain why Rei does not know 
about this meeting?" Lita asked. 

Jeadite turned to Serena. "You didn't tell them yet?" 

"I was waiting for you. Considering it's your story, I figured I should
let you tell it." 

"But now you visited the future and you know more then me, so you should 
tell it." 

"Fine," Serena said. "You tell the past, I will tell present and future." 

"Wait a minute!" Lita yelled. 

"When did you visit the future Serena? Would somebody please tell us what
the hell is going on?" 

"Ok, ok," Jeadite said. "Here goes. Back in the silver millenium, Rei and
I were very close. We were best friends for years. Then I fell in love.
With her. According to Serena, she was in love with me also. You would
never know it though. I never told her I loved her though, and trust me I
regret that, because I didn't want to ruin our friendship. Then the war
came, and everything changed. I was kidnapped by beryl, brainwashed and
taken to the other side. Rei made a vow never to forgive me. Soon after
that we were sent to the present, and I was still on Beryl's side. Once
again I had to try and kill Rei. As I remember, she still was just as
resentful towards me. Anyway that brings us up to the present so,
Serena," Jeadite said. 

"Ok, a while back when we were fighting Jeadite, I went to Rei's to find
that she was in her room crying. She was confused, she was fighting
Jeadite, and yet she felt extremely close to him the whole time." 

"Wait," Jeadite interrupted. "Why didn't you tell me this before?" 

"I didn't think it was necessary," she said. "That was how I found out
Rei was still in love with you." 

"Ok so you guys are saying that Rei is in love? And with Jeadite?" Mina
asked.Serena and Jeadite shook their head yes. 

"Wow." said Ami. 

"Wait, there is more." Serena said. 

"Remember how Rei had no opinion on bringing Jeadite back? This is
because she still has not forgiven him. That is why I was reluctant to
bring him back, and why Rei was so upset when we found the crystal. Then
that night, I got a visit from Queen Serenity. She brought me to the
future to show what would happen if I didn't bring Jeadite back, and if I
did. So as to not ruin the future, let's just say that everyone,
especially Rei; was much happier when I brought Jeadite back. So that 
is why I brought him back." Serena said. 

"Whoa," Lita said. "That is some story." 

"So now what do we do?" Ami asked. 

"Well to make Rei happy, we have to get her to forgive Jeadite somehow." 
Serena replied. 

Lita asked a question. "Do you still love her Jeadite?" 

"Of course." he said. "I never stopped, I just got kinda sidetracked for
while." 

"Good." Said Lita. "Right now I really doubt you are a person Rei wants
to see. But since Serena said it makes Rei happy in the end, I am willing
to let you talk to her. But let me say now, that if we put her through
all this pain, and she forgives you, and then you break her heart, I
promise you will regret ever coming back." 

"Lita is right you know." Ami said. "Rei is very stubborn. If she made a
vow, she is likely to stick to it. Even if she made it over one thousand
years ago. Are you sure you want to go?" "

There is nothing in this world, or any other, that could keep me from
seeing her again. I am doing this for her. I would walk away without ever
seeing her again, if that is what would make her happy. But whether she
realizes it or not, she needs me so I am going to go to here. There is
nothing I wouldn't do, to make her happy. I love her."

 Courage Under Fire Part 3~The Meeting By: MCRK  

Chapter Seven 

Over at the temple Rei was meditating in front of the fire. Seeing
Jeadite in the crystal had gotten her upset and she needed to know what
was going on. She started to see images in the fire. Of Serena breaking
open the crystal, Serena bringing Jeaditeback and explaining everything
to him. Then Rei saw all the scouts sitting in the Tsukino's living room
talking to Jeadite. She also saw images from the Silver Millenium. Of her
and Jeadite talking and laughing. Her saying that she needed to tell
Jeadite something. Then all of a sudden he was taken and he was evil. 
The next image that Rei saw was the worst one. She saw all the scouts
bringing Jeadite over to the temple. "No!" Rei screamed all of her
memories coming back. She jumped up without waiting for the rest of the
image to come in. 'I have to call the scouts.' She thought. 'Serena can
not bring him back! There is no way that he is coming over here to talk
to me ever again! I made a vow one thousand years ago and I am sticking
to it!' She ran over to call Serena on her communicator. 

"So I guess we should call Rei and have a scout meeting." Serena said.
"Ok." Everyone agreed. Serena went over and called Rei on her
communicator. "Hey Rei is it ok if we come over for a while and have a
scout meeting? I have to tell you something." 

"Sure," Rei said. 

"Ok we will be by in a few minutes." And at that Serena disconnected it.
"Ok guys, lets go!" 

After everyone had come in, and sat down, Rei decided to question the
meeting. "So," she started. "What are we meeting for, anything in
particular?" All the scouts glanced at each other before speaking. 

"Well," Serena said, "There is someone who visited me earlier this
morning. He needs to talk to you. He needs you to hear something." 

'Oh God,' thought Rei. 'Please don't let it be him.' Her blood ran cold.
'Please god please! Let it be any one with him.' She started to falter
backwards eyes glazing over. 

"Rei, are you ok?" Ami asked 

Rei snapped out of it and shook her head. "Yeah I'm fine Ami." She
replied. 

"So do you want to meet him?" Serena asked. 

"Do I have a choice?" 

"Ok hold on, I will get him." Serena left the room the and scouts stared
at each other for a few uncomfortable moments. For Ami, Lita, and Mina,
they knew they were about to bring in the person that Rei wanted to see
least. As for Rei, she was busy worrying about whether or not it would be
him. She silently prayed for it to be any one else but him. 'Please god!
I don't think I can handle seeing him yet.' 

"Ok I'm back!" Serena cheerfully called. She stepped into the room,
bringing him with her. 

For a split second Rei's eyes filed with love and care. But just ask
quickly as the look had come, it vanished, and her eyes were filled with
hate, anger, and betrayal for the man that stood before her. 

"Um...I think you guys know each other so why don't you explain why
you're here," Serena said. 

Completely ignoring her the two stared at each other. Him with love, her
with hate. 

"Do you remember who I am?" questioned. 

"How could I not?" she sarcastically remarked. "Jeadite, general for the
Negaverse, worked for Queen Beryl, a mean, cold, low life who has tried
over and over again to kill me and my friends." 

"I would never try to kill you are even harm you!" he replied shocked
that she could say such a thing about him. 

"You died twice trying!" Rei bitterly retorted. 

He was silent for a moment as the truth sunk in. As much as he hated to
realize, he had tried to kill her. "Actually," he said, in attempt to
lighten things up with a joke, "I never tried to kill you, just drain
your energy." 

After a moment Serena started to laugh. When Rei shot her a glare she
shut up muttering, "what it was true!" 

After a moment of silence he said, "I remember who you are." When she
didn't answer he continued. "Hino Rei, Sailor Mars..." At this she
outwardly gasped but he kept speaking, "...A kind woman, someone who has
a strong heart, a wonderful friend, determined, strong will, extremely
brave, loyal, self sacrificing, short tempered..." 

He was interrupted when Rei blurted out, "How do you know so much about
me?" 

"You didn't let me finish," he answered quietly. He closed his eyes, took
a deep breath, and started," I know so much about you because..." he
momentarily paused, then continued with, "...I love you." 
Chapter Eight 

Jeadite heard nothing and he dared to open his eyes. Once he had, he
wished he had kept them closed. Instead of seeing the love and care in
her eyes like he had hoped, he saw hurt, anger, betrayal, everything he
did not want to see, he saw. 'But who can blame her,' he thought, 'I did
betray her. She trusted me with her friendship, her mind, her life, and I
went and tried to kill her.' He decided to speak. "Rei-Chan?" He softly
asked. 

"Don't you dare call me that!" she shouted; now fully angered. "You lost
the right to refer to me with any terms of affection the second you
turned your back on us!" she gestured towards the other scouts before
continuing. "This may come as a shock but I loved you! Back in the Silver
millenium I was in love with you! I bared my soul to you and in return
what did I get? Betrayal, death, pain, and worst of all, the destruction
of all peace in the solar system and now on Earth. What did you 
expect that I would forgive you the minute you started to care about me
again? It doesn't work that way Jeadite! You left. You turned your back
and you left. Don't try coming back now and expect me to be all forgive
and forget! I can't do that. I cared for you like no one else in the
universe! Now I have a different life. One that gladly does not include
you. You are the enemy, not the most important person in my life, not
anymore. Now you became the enemy. After that I never wanted to see you
again. And its not like you care but my feelings are the same." 

She turned around as if dismissing him; but suddenly whirled around 
with renewed fury in her eyes. "And what are you talking about you love
me?" She asked. "I assume you are talking about back in the Silver
Millenium because you don't even know me in this lifetime. I may have the
same name and the same duty but i am not the same person. But even that
does not sound right. You never loved me in the Silver Millenium. We were
friends, best friends, for years, but you never showed any feelings for
me other then friendship. If you had, you would have let me tell you that
I loved you. But you didn't. Remember that night Jeadite?" Rei asked.
Jeadite looked confused. "You mean you actually forgot the night that you
chose to betray your friends?" 

Jeadite gasped realizing what she thought."No you don't understand." he
said. 

"I understand perfectly." Rei said. "We were sitting in the courtyard
talking like usual. The only difference was that was when I was going to
tell you that i had feelings for you other then friendship. But you kept
changing ths subject. Eventually you stalled until Beryl came, and then
you ran off, and you were on her side. You betrayed all of us. Especially
me." Tears started to fill Rei's eyes. "That is how i know you never
loved me. If you did, you would have told me before you became evil. What
we felt for each other happened over a lifetime ago. A few weeks ago you
despised me and were trying to kill me. But now all of a sudden since you
got your memories back you love me again? That proves that you never
loved me in the first place!" she yelled. "Telling me this now, makes me 
wonder if you are only saying that because we are destined to be with
each other or some other crap like that. You can't just love someone
because you suddenly remember that you are supposed to! Love doesn't work
that way. For you to really love me, you would have to love me in this
lifetime, as Rei Hino because that is who i am now! I never loved you, I
loved General Jeadite warrior from Kingdom Earth. But then he changed to.
I never stopped loving him because i forgot. I stopped loving him because
you became something evil. The Jeadite i loved died the second he agreed
to fight for Beryl. You became a traitor. Your turned your back and took
the easy way out. That is why i don't love you anymore. That is why i 
can not forgive you!”

"Rei," he softly tried, "please just let me explain..." 

"GET AWAY FROM ME!!" Rei screamed. She collapsed on the bed sobbing. 
"Don't you get it?" she asked through tears. "I do not want you back in
my life so please leave!" 

Slowly he turned to leave. Just as he was about to pass through the
doorway, he turned to say he did it to save her. But at the sight of her,
grief stricken on her bed, sobbing, he decided against it. He looked
towards Serena as she whispered, "I'm sorry." He nodded his head in
understanding. Jeadite then turned and once again, walked out of Rei's
life. 

"Um...I think we should go you guys," Lita said breaking the
uncomfortable silence. 

"Yeah its about time we got home anyway," Mina replied. They slowly filed
out the door, Serena trailing behind. Just as Serena was about to leave
the temple, she stopped, turned around, and started to walk back in. 

Luna noticed and turned to see Serena. "Serena!" she hissed, "what are
you doing?!" 

"I can't leave her all alone like this!" she answered. "It's my fault,
this happened, I gotta help her." Haven't you done enough?" Luna asked. 

"Chad is here. He is perfectly capable of comforting someone." 

"No he is not! Not this time." Serena stubbornly argued stamping her
foot. "Rei is still in love with him! You can see it in her eyes. She is
just afraid to trust him again, she is afraid to love him again; she
fears rejection more then anything. She needs someone to help her. My
best friend is in there, on her bed, crying her eyes out because of me!
Think of all the times she has helped me, like when Darien was taken by
the Negaverse? She is always the first to comfort me. To say he will be 
back. I am not leaving her here to deal with this herself Luna I don't
care what you say!" and with that, she turned and walked back into the
temple to comfort her friend. Luna could do nothing at this point but
sigh and hope Serena knew what she was doing. 

"Rei..." Serena softly knocked on her door. 

"Didn't you guys leave?" Rei asked. 

"Well yeah but I came back to explain. I figured since you didn't want to
speak to Jeadite and let him explain someone else had to do it. And since
it was my fault this whole thing happened, I figured I owed you an
explanation." 

Rei made a futile attempt to dry her eyes as she turned her head to look
at Serena. "You sent him!" she said glaring at Serena. "Why? What
possible reason did you come up with that involved him having to talk to
me? Whether I said it yesterday or not, you knew that I did not want to
see him again. I don't know how, but you were able to figure out what
happened. Therefore it should have occurred to you how I was going to
feel seeing him again. Did you ever think that maybe just maybe I don't
love him anymore!?" 

Serena was quiet during this waiting for Rei to finish. Now she started
to speak. "Yes Rei I did ask him to come. But it was not to hurt you. You
are my best friend. I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you!
The only reason I brought Jeadite back was because in the end, it makes
you happier." 

"what are you talking about?" Rei asked. 

"Ok let me see if I can explain this. The reason yesterday that I did not
want to bring Jeadite back was because I knew that you were still mad at
him from the Silver Millenium or whatever. Then everyone told me to
decide so I was thinking about it all day, and was completely undecided
until I got a visit from my mother from the Moon Kingdom. She took me to
the future to show what would happen if I brought Jeadite back and if I
didn't. I don't want to ruin your future for you, but I will tell you
that you are soooo much happier with Jeadite. So since I was trying to
make you happy, I brought him back." Rei sat there silently listening, 
and now started to speak. 

"Look Serena, it's nice of you to care so much about what happens in my
future, but it is my future. From now on, I would rather make decisions
and live with the consequences, good, or bad. Now if you will please
excuse me, I have chores to do." And with that she got up and walked out
of the room. 

'I don't care what you think Rei Hino.' Serena thought. 'You two belong
together and even if it kills me, I am going to get you together.' 


Chapter Nine 
Over at the Tsukino house, the doorbell rang. "Could someone get that?"
Serena yelled. Then she remembered that no one was home except her and
Luna, and Luna was taking a walk. "Oh great." Grumbled Serena. "Who is
it?" She asked. 

"It's a surprise." The voice called back. 

'Well whoever it is, it is definitely male.' Serena thought. She opened
the door and gasped. 

"Hi." The man said happily." "Surprised to see me?" "Darien!" Serena
exclaimed. 

"When, how, who, hi!" She sputtered. 

Darien laughed. "I'm not really sure how I got back. As soon as Beryl and 
Malachite were killed, the spell over me was broken so I remembered
everything. I was just walking around the Negaverse for some time looking
for a way out, when Jeadite came up to me. At first I started to attack
but then he explained that he was good. He said that you had brought him
back, and he was now trying to make up with Rei. Then the next thing I
knew I woke up in my apartment." 

"Seems everyone falls asleep when they leave that place." Serena said. 

"What?" 

"Never mind it is not important." 

"So Serena do you mind explaining what has been going on around here?" 

"We can talk about that later." She said slyly. "My family is away for
the next week and Luna is out on a walk. So we are all alone muffin." She
pulled him in and closed the door. 



Jeadite was walking up the temple stairs when he ran into a man with very
strange long brown hair who was carrying a suitcase and running down the
stairs. 

"Is, uh, Rei here?" Jeadite asked. 

"Yeah dude, she is sweeping. By the way the names Chad, catch you later." 

"Right," Jeadite muttered. "Much later." 

He spotted Rei and ran up the stairs. "Rei can I talk to you for a
minute?" He called. 

"I have absolutly nothing to say to you." She said. 

"I know." Jeadite said. "And I wouldn't be here if there was anywhere
else I could go, but I need to ask you a big favor." 

“'What would that be?" Rei asked. 

"I need a place to stay until I can find an apartment. I know right now
we are not exactly on friendly terms, but no one else has room. I figured
a place like the temple would have extra space." 

"How come you only need one now? Where have you been staying?" 

"Well I was staying at Darien's but now since he is back from the
Negaverse, there is really no room in his place." He said, figuring this
would make her ask questions. 

Rei was extremley curious about why and how Darien was back but she was
not going to give him the satisfaction of knowing that. 'Well," she said.
"Since grandpa is away for a while and Chad is going away, there is extra
room. So I guess you can stay." Rei abruptly turned and continued
sweeping. 'Guess I find the room on my own.' Jed thought. 

"Thanks Rei," he called as he walked inside. He walked around checking
the rooms until he found one that had a bed and dresser, but nothing
else. 'I take it this is the spare room.' He thought as he settled in. 




"So where is Jeadite?" Serena asked. "I have to thank him for bring
Darien back." The scouts were gathered at the temple once again for a
scout meeting. Except this time, Darien was back. 

"Wait, he brought Darien back? Rei asked. 

"Yeah, " Serena said. 

"Didn't he tell you that?" 

"No and I didn't ask. He just said Darien was back so I left it at that." 

"Anywa, where is her?" Lita asked. 

"Uh, I think he is in his room, hold on I will go get him." Rei said. She
got up and left to find Jeadite. 

"So do you think they are speaking to each other and everything, now that
they are living in the same building?" Lita asked. 

"No way." Said Mina. "If I know anything about Rei it is that she does
not forgive people easily. Especially not when she is so mad that she
crys over it." 



Rei walked over to the room where Jed was staying. She prepared to kncok
on the door but something she heard made her pause for a minute. Rei
could hear the radio playing "Dreeming Of You" by Selena. She listened
for a moment. 

Late at night when all the world is sleeping

Rei heard Jeadite talking. "This song would have to be on right now
wouldn't it? God knows the first part is true. It would be nice if the
second part would happen, but of course the way Rei feels towards me the
second part will never happen." Rei felt herself blush at this. "I, I
just wish that I could explain to her." Jeadite said shaking his head.
"But she won't even talk to me." He was silent for a few minutes. 

Rei took this as an oppurtunity to knock. Jeadite opened the door to see
Rei standing there. "Sorry to bother you." She said rather coldly. "But
the scouts are here and everyone wanted to talk to you." 

"uh, sure I will be right there." Jeadite said. Rei nodded and closed the
door. 'oh shoot.' Jeadite thought. 'I really hope she didn't hear me. Oh
well I guess I should go out and talk to everyone.' Jeadite opened and
followed Rei out to the main room. After saying hello to everyone,
Jeadite sat down. "Rei said you guys wanted to talk to me." He said.
"What about?" 

"Well first we wanted to thank you for bringing Darien back." Mina said. 

"And we wanted to know how you did it." Lita added. 

"Well it was no big deal bringing him back. I mean, I know what it is
like to be trapped inside that place against your will." Jeadite said
quietly. "Anyway, all I did was transform somehow, and transported myself
there." 

"You mean you have powers to?" Serena squealed. 

"Rei how come you didn't tell us any of this?" Serena complained. 

"I told you, I didn't know anything about it." Rei said. 

"So what do you become when you transform?" Mina asked. 

"I don't know." Jeadite said. "I just become some guy in a tux, with a
mask covering everything but my eyes. Oh and I throw these weird little
star things." 

"Cool!" Serena yelled. 

"Another Tuxedo Mask!" 

'Yeah, but he needs a different name." Mina said thoughtfully. 

"What about Mars Knight?" Lita suggested. 

"It kinda seems like Jeadite protected Sailor Mars back in the silver
millenium. 

So that is where the mars part comes from, and then he is a knight, so
Mars Knight, get it?" Lita asked. Rei glared at her for even suggesting
that. 

"Uh, why don't we think of something else?" Jed said hastily, seeing
Rei's sudden anger. 

Ami looked up from her book and rolled her eyes at the sight before her.
Everyone was in deep though, except for Rei who just seemed incredibly
bored, over what to call Jeadite, when the answer was obvious. "You
guys," She finally said. "It is obvious what we should call Jeadite. Star
Knight." Everyone looked at her with weird expressions. 

"Star Knight?" Darien questioned. 

"If you think about it, it makes perfect sense." Ami said. "He is a
knight, like Lita said. And his attacks have to do with stars. Think
about it." 

"Star Knight." Serena repeated, trying to let it sink in. "Cool!" She
turned to Jeadite. "So what do you say? Are you a part of the team?" 

"Before I answer that," Jed said slowly, turning to glance over at Rei.
"There is something I have to tell you guys that may make you change your
minds."

Ok well now stuff is finally starting to happen! I hope you liked thi
part. Sorry it took so long to come out. Proofreading is a huge pain. The
next aprt will hopefully be out soon. Guess what people? Only two more
parts to go! I pray that they willl be out shortly. I am going on

Chapter Ten 


"Whoa, sounds serious," Lita said. 

"It is." Jed replied. "It also happens to be on a subject that a few
people don't like to discuss, my betrayal to the moon kingdom." The room
fell silent as every one tried to avoid looking at Rei. Either they
didn't try hard enough, or something forced them too, but either way
everyone ended up glancing over at Rei. When she heard the words,
"...betrayal to the Moon Kingdom," she immediately stiffened. 
She sat there trying to hide all the emotion from her face. She failed.
Miserably. Anyone that looked over at Rei would notice that her eyes were
widened with fear. 

'Why is she afraid?" Lita though as she quickly glanced away. 

'You would think that if anything she would be angry, but afraid? Rei?
Never.' Serena cleared her throat and everyone snapped back to reality.
Taking as her duty as leader, Serena was the first to speak. "Go ahead
Jeadite." She said. He took a deep breath. 

"Ok here goes. I know that all of you believe that back in the silver
millenium, myself and the other three generals were kidnapped by Beryl,
and brainwashed to fight against the Moon Kingdom right?" Everyone
nodded. "That's not exactly the way it happened. At least not in my
case." He said carefully. 

"So what did happen?" Lita asked narrowing her eyes and preparing herself
to attack. Rei leaned against the wall and closed her eyes, waiting for
the blame to come. 

"Ok see the thing is, none of us were forced to go." Jeadite said slowly. 

Rei's eyes snapped open. "So you did choose to go." Rei hissed softly. 

Jeadite nodded his head slowly. 

"How could you do that?" Rei asked incredulously. "How could you turn
your backs on us, on Endymion?" She continued. 

"I know what you guys are thinking." Jeadite said glancing around the
room. Ami looked confused, Lita looked angry, Mina looked shocked, and
Serena and Darien had looks of disbelief on their faces. But the worst
one was Rei. When he looked over he saw a face filled with pain and
anguish. That he had caused. "I know you guys think that for some reason
I decided to go over to join Beryl just because we wanted to be evil. But
that is not what happened. There was a person that was threatened.
Someone I was very close to. Beryl was going to kill her if I didn't go. 
I couldn't take that chance." Jeadite explained. Everyone looked at him
with confusion on his or her faces. "Ok let me see if I can explain
this." 


~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Silver Millenium~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 


"Jeadite." A voice called. Jeadite looked around his room to see no one. 

"Who's there?" He called. 

"Show yourself." As he watched a woman slowly came out of the shadows. 
She had long hair wild and untamed like a fire. Her eyes burned of the
brightest green. She almost passed as being beautiful. Except for the
horrid look in her eyes. A ook of pure evil. 

"You have a lot of nerve showing your face around here." He spat out.
"You're the bitch that took Zoisite." 

"Zoisite came all by himself. I did not take him." She said calmly. "Oh
and for your information, the name is Beryl. Queen Beryl." 

"Do I really care what you name is?" 

"You will when you are serving me and  obeying my commands." 

"I would never serve you. I serve Endymion and I plan on continuing to do
so." Jeadite said. "I don't know what you did to Zoisite to make him
change his mind either." 

"It was quite simple. He was bored with this life. I promised him
everything he could ever want. The dark kingdom will supply you with
food, shelter, a family, a job, women, and protection. I promise you
everything you want when you join our forces." Beryl said promisingly. 

"No thanks." Jeadite sneered. "I have plenty right here. I have friends,
family, a duty, food, protection, and shelter, everything I could ever
need. And I am happy here. So I'll be seeing you bye." He called. 

"What about someone to love?" She asked him. "You are talking to the
wrong person about love." Jeadite said with a laugh. "I don't want it,
need it, or care for it." 

"Oh really?" Beryl asked, almost amused by his speech. "What about her?"
She waved her hand and a holographic image of someone appeared. Jeadite
stared at it for a moment before answering. "I don't love her." He said
through gritted teeth. 

"Really? You could have fooled me." Beryl said. "So I guess you wouldn't
mind if something happened to her right?" Another image quickly came into
place. The woman that had been smiling so innocently, an only moment
before, was now fighting Jeadite and the scouts, and was serving Beryl!
"Didn't like that one? Try another." Beryl said laughing at Jeadite's
change of opinion. Once again the image was replaced with one even worse
then the first. This one showed the woman being tortured by Beryl. 

"You are not scaring me with these images." Jeadite said. "I know none of
this is going to happen. She would never serve you." 

"Of course not." Beryl said. "She is too loyal to her loved ones. That is
why I would have to force her to. That is if you turn down my offer." She
said with an evil grin appearing on her face. Jeadite narrowed his eyes
at her. 

"You wouldn't get away with it." He said trying to figure out if she
would really do it. "People would figure out where she is." 

"Oh but I will get away with it. Because you and her would be the only
ones that know. And she can't tell anyone can she?" 

"So what makes you think I will keep quiet?" Jeadite asked. 

"Oh did I forget that part?" Beryl asked innocently. "If you tell anyone
about this, whether you decide to come, or if she comes, she will die in
a very slow torturous way in which you will be forced to watch." Jeadite
shuddered at the thought of that. "So who is it going to be, you or her?"
Beryl asked. 

"This is not a fair trade." He said. "Either way she gets hurt. Either
she is going to believe I have betrayed her, or she is going to die." 

"Yeah well what can I say? Life's not fair." Beryl said shrugging her
shoulders. 

Jeadite uttered a sigh of defeat. "If I join you." He said slowly. "Will
you promise that she is not going to be hurt?" 

"Well I am not going to her hurt." She said. "That is not what I asked."
Jeadite said. 

"Look there is no guarantee that she will be safe. I mean there is going
to be a war against the Moon Kingdom you know. But I can promise you that
I have no plans of singling her out and killing her or hurting her."
Beryl said. "I am giving you two days to decide what to do. Remember tell
anyone and she dies." Beryl said pointing to the image as it disappeared.
"Two days." Her voice echoed as she vanished.

"So you gave up your freedom to save someone close to you?" Serena asked
wide-eyed. 

Jeadite nodded his head. "As you can probably guess I chose to join
Beryl. I felt terrible betraying you guys but I had to save her. I loved
her." He said quietly. "But I really don't want to get into who it was.
That is going to cause more problems then it is worth." He said hastily.
All the scouts exchanged knowing glances with each other. "So, do you
guys still want me to be a part of the team?" He asked. 

After making eye contact with the other scouts Serena spoke up. "We would
be honored to have you fight on our team. You are a skilled warrior and a
loyal person. Welcome to the team Jeadite." Jeadite winced at the name. 

"Do me a favor guys ok? Just call me Jed ok? Jeadite kinda brings back
some unwanted memories." He said smiling. 

"Sure thing Jed." Mina said smiling back. 

"Well, now that that is done, if you guys will excuse me I have things to
do." Rei said curtly. She stood up and walked off to her room. 

"Oh man," Serena said. "She is really pissed off." 

"Well shouldn't someone go after her?" Jed asked. 

"Rei is not a very calm person." Ami said. 

"She gets angry a lot." Serena added. "And when she does, it is better
just to let her go off by herself and do whatever till she calms down." 

"Fine." Jed said. "I am going to go talk to her." 

"uh Jed," Darien said. "No offense but I do not think that it will help
if you go talk to her." 

"Look, she already hates me, so what harm could it do?" Jed stood up and
started to leave the room. "Oh yeah, you guys are welcome to stay as long
as you like." 

"Thanks but I think we will be leaving now." Lita said. "Don't want to be
around during this." She said under her breath. 

"Bye!" Everyone called. Jed went to his room and got a package. On the
top it simply said Happy Birthday Rei, Love Jed. The scouts had told him
that Rei's birthday was in a few days so he figured he should get her a
gift. He picked it up and went off to talk to Rei. 


Chapter Eleven 


Rei was sitting in her room fuming. 'How could they forgive him just like
that?' she thought. 'He just admitted to choosing to fight on Beryl's
side!' Rei heard a knock at her door. 

Jed poked his head in and asked, "Can I come in?" 

"I guess." Rei said. 

"I have to talk to you about something." He said. 

"So talk." 

"I know that you are really mad at me, but now you understand why I chose
to fight for Beryl." 

"What difference does it make why?" Rei asked. "You fought for her. You
became evil for over one thousand years. Does it even make a difference
why? No one ever..." 

"It was you." Jed said quietly, interrupting her. Rei stopped talking and
stared at him. 

"What are you talking about?" She asked. "I was what?" 

"You were the reason that I chose to fight for Beryl." He said. 

"So now you are going to blame it on me?" Rei asked angrily. 

"No, no let me explain. I did it to save you from having to fight for
Beryl." 

"You mean I was the person?" Rei asked with fear in her voice. "Oh so you
finally decided to listen to something I say." Jed said. 

"Please don't joke about this, just tell me the truth. Was it my fault?"
Rei asked.

 'Yes you were the person." Jed said. "But that doesn't mean it was your
fault." He added quickly. 

"I can't believe that you would do that, just because Beryl threatened to
take me." Rei said looking at him. 

"Are you kidding?" Jed asked. "Of course I would. I would do it now too."
He said quietly. 

"But I still don't know why she chose me to threaten. I mean what was so
great about me?" Rei asked. 

"First off you were the Princess of Mars, and second, you only happened
to be the most important person in the world to me. Which Beryl knew
somehow. That is why she chose you. She knew if my choice was me or you,
she had a new recruit for her side. The only way I could stop her was by
agreeing to fight for her. She knew that I would do anything to save you.
She knew that nothing meant more to me then you did. That is why I agreed
to fight for Beryl. After I did that, I was brainwashed, which is why I
was never able to come back. She was afraid I would turn on her in
battle, so she programmed me to hate the scouts, especially you. I 
know it hurt, it hurt me too, but I would rather have faced death then
let harm meet you. I loved you and I still do." 

"I can understand why you did that and why you told me," Rei said slowly.
"And I am glad you did, and I thank you, and I am sorry for all the
trouble I have caused you," She took a deep breath and finished. "But I
still can't forgive you." 

"Why not?" Jed asked getting annoyed. "I know that you hated me because
you thought I betrayed for no reason, but now you know I did it for you.
And I know you were angry because I never told you how I really felt back
in the Silver Millenium,. That I never told you I loved you, but I am
telling you now. What excuse can you come up with this time?" Jed yelled. 

"I have my reasons." Rei said quietly. 

Jed sighed in frustration. "Rei talk to me! Tell me what is wrong. We
ruined what could have been a great relationship 1,000 years ago because
we were both too stubborn to admit our feelings. Don't push me out again!
We have a chance to fix what should have been, please just explain to me
what the hell is wrong!" Jed yelled. 

"I'm scared ok?" Rei yelled back. "You wanted to know and now you do are
you happy?" 

"No." Jed answered truthfully. "I can't be happy when you are this upset.
What are you afraid of?" 

"Of forgiving you." Rei said choking back tears. "I know that if I
forgive you, and we become friends, I will fall in love with you again
and I can't do that." 

Jed understood what was wrong. "But this time you already know I love
you, and I will never hurt you, so this time, we can be together." 

"That's what you'd like to believe isn't? But what happens if another
enemy comes along. And he blackmails you into turning evil again." Rei
said. "I can't risk going through all that pain again. I don't want to
love you anymore. It hurts too much to try. Especially if nothing is
going to come of it." She said, now allowing her tears to flow freely. 

"But it doesn't have to hurt." Jed said. "This time is different." 

"You don't understand!" Rei said. "I went through an incredible amount of
pain when you left. I kinda guessed it was my fault and seeing as you
gave no explanation, I was hurt. I wouldn't talk to anyone, and I
couldn't get close to anyone again." 

"I'm so sorry." Jed stammered. "I never realized it had such a horrible
affect on you." 

"Yeah well it did." Rei said bitterly. "And if you want to know the truth
it still has an effect on me." 

"What do you mean?" He asked. "I am the reincarnation of Princess Mars.
She went through a ton of pain. That pain never went away. Do you know
what emotional problems I have? You would not believe how hard it is for
me to even say this. I don't know who or why I even am. I don't tell
people what I am feeling. Ever. Not even the scouts. Because I can't!" 

"Oh god! Rei I am sorry. I can't believe...I mean I never knew." Jed said
with horror creeping into his voice. 

"Of course not. No one knows." "But look, Rei, this is different. I love
you more then anything. Back in the Silver millenium you used to love me
to. If you are the reincarnation of Princess Mars, and if you still feel
all her pain, don't you think you would feel her love too?" Jed asked. 

"I..." Rei couldn't finish the sentence. This time he was right. "I, I
can't." Rei whispered. 

"I'm sorry but my reasons are too strong." 

"Fine." Jed said. "If you really want to go the rest of your life never
forgiving me, who am I to stop you? I am just telling you know though
that that is it. I am not going to try and convince you anymore. I still
love you, but apparently you do not feel the same way. Before I go though
I have something for you. Serena told me your birthday was coming up so I
figured I should get you a present." He tossed the package to her. "I
guess you can tell it's a CD. It is one of my favorite groups, I thought
you might enjoy it." He turned and walked towards the door. He stopped
turned around and gave her one more piece of advice. "If you ever open 
it, and listen to it, make sure you listen to number 6." He said, and
walked away. Rei looked down at the package that said, "Happy Birthday
Rei, Love Jed." She unwrapped it to find a CD of Third Eye Blind. 'Weird
name for a group.' She thought. 'I guess I should put it in and listen to
number six.' She walked over to her CD player and set it up to play
number six. 'I wonder why he said this song?' The song came on and she
listened intently trying to figure it out.

By the end of the song Rei was crying. "Doesn't he get it?" Rei asked
herself out loud. "I do love him, but I am to afraid to let him know
that. Besides, it's my fault that he switched sides and I know everyone
blames me. It doesn't matter what he said, I know I was responsible. He
even admitted that I was the cause of it. I don't deserve his love." She
said softly. 

'She thinks it is her fault?!' Jed, who had been outside her door
listening, thought shocked. "Oh, crap! I have to explain to her that no
one blames her.' His thoughts went back to her last comments. "I don't
deserve his love." Were her exact words. 'How could she even think that?'
Jed thought, somewhat hurt. 'Doesn't she realize how special she is, and
that she deserves some one better than me? Don't worry Rei.' He thought.
'I am going to show you how special you are. I owe us both at least that
much.' 


Chapter Twelve

 
A few days after Jed joined the scouts, he was walking around Tokyo. He
was on his way to Serena's house when someone ran into him. 

"Oh I am so sorry. I didn't mean..." Serena started. 

"Serena. Calm down, it's me." Jed said. 

"Oh hi." Serena said panting. "I was just on my way over. I need to ask
you a favor." Jed said. 

"Ok first let's sit down." Serena suggested. The two found a benc to sit
down on and Serena resumed the conversation. "I take it this is about
Rei?" She asked. He nodded his head. "Well I want the two of you to get
together just as much as you do, so I will do whatever I can to help."
"Well, that's just the thing." Jed said. "I told Rei I was going to stop
bothering her about that."

"What?!" Serena shrieked. "What made you do that?" 

"Well remeber when everyone left and i went to talk toRei? I found out
that she is still to hurt by what happened to forgive me. Also she is
afriad that if she does, it will happen all over again." 

"Poor Rei!" Serena exclaimed. "Yeah.But I over heard her talking and she
is in love with me." 

"So what do you want me to do?" Serena asked. "Well she blames herself
for what happened. So I figured someone else could try telling her that
it is not her fault. I have tried telling her but she is determined not
to believe me." 

"And you want me to do this?" Serena asked laughing. "Rei can't stand me.
She never listens to me. I tried explaining to her when you first came
back. There is no way she will listen to me." 

"Serena I am telling you that that is totally untrue. No matter how Rei
acts towards you, she cares for you deeply. Trust me!" He pleaded. 

Serena looked at him curiously. "How do you know that?" She asked. "Rei
will explain that to you evnetually. Trust me. So will you please help?"
He asked. 

"Look, I would like to but I'm sorry there is nothing I can do." 

"Maybe you can't," Jed said with a gleam in his eyes, "But I bet Princess
Serenity can!" 


I can not believe Jed talked me into this!' Serena thought as she headed
for the temple. She thought back to their conversation. "Princess
Serenity?" Serena had asked. "What does she have to do with anything." 

"Remember how I told everyone that beryl blackmailed me by using someone
very close to me?" 

"It was Rei wasn't it?" Serena asked, as everything suddenly clicked.
"And then she blamed herself and assumed all the scouts did to. And then
when you told her that she was the reason that you became a traitor, she
must have thought you blamed her too right?" 

"Yeah," Jed said. "And since this really all started in the Moon Kingdom,
I thought maybe the moon princess, who happened to be one of her best
friends, could reassure her that no one blames now, and they never did.
You wouldn't know it just from looking at her but she does not have a lot
of faith in herself." Jed said. 

"I don't know." Serena said. "As much as I want to see you guys together,
I hate putting Rei through all this." Jed shook his head. 

"I am not doing this to get her back. I am doing this just to regain her
friendship and her trust. Partly because now we have to work together
when the scouts are needed. And also because I know what my life is like
without her and it is not one worth living. But I am not even doing this
for that. Think of what kind of life Rei will be living if she always
thinks her friends blame her for a betrayal. I know her and she won't be
able to take that guilt. She will end up quitting the sailor scouts and
throwing her life away. I restarted this whole mess by going to talk to
her, and I am going to fix it. But I can't do it alone. You brought me
back to make Rei happy. If we don't fix this she will never be happy. I
need your help. Please Serena? For Rei?" 

'And the next thing I know, I am at the temple, going to talk to Rei.'
Serena thought. Serena went to knock on the door. 'Whoops, almost forgot
the most important thing.' Serena thought. She closed her eyes and
concentrated. Soon in her place stood a beautiful woman in a white
flowing gown. Princess Serenity. She knocked on the door and waited for
someone to answer. 

Jed opened the door and noticed who it was. "Thanks Serena. Rei is in her
room." Serena nodded her head and went on in. Rei was sitting there
reading mangas and did not even notice someone had entered. "May I speak
with you?" 

Rei looked up surprised to see princess Serenity. "Uh, sure yeah." She
said bowing her head. 

"You need not to bow." She said. "We are both friends." 

"Uh, please sit down." Rei said clearing a space on the bed. "I need to
talk to you about Jeadite." Serenity said. 

Rei rolled her eyes. "Did he put you up to this? I told him that I can
not forgive him." 

"Do you mind if I ask you why not?" "Well partly because I am afraid of
what will happen if I do, and some how he becomes evil all over again. I
don't want to go through all that pain again." Rei said. 

"And the other reason is..." the Princess said. 

"Um...the other reason is, because I know that it is my fault, and that
everyone blames me, and therefore I don't deserve his love." Rei said. 

'How come Rei didn't tell any one about this?' Serena thought. "No wonder
she was so upset at seeing him again. It brought back all of her old
memories.' "Rei listen to me." Serenity said. "No one, not the scouts,
not me, and not Jeadite, blame you for what happened. It was not your
fault in any way." 

"I guess that deep down I know that, but I can't help feel guilty over it
anyway." 

"That is perfectbly understandable." Serenity said. "You were the person
closest to him so therefore it is only natural you feel it is your fault.
But trust me it's not. I know the story, and I know why Jeadite had to
switch sides, and if any one is to blame it is Beryl ok?" 

"I understand, but I still can't forgive him. I have already fallen in
love with him again and that is painful enough." Rei said. 

"Let me tell you a story." Serenity said. "Once upon a time back on the
Moon Kingdom, there was a prince and a princess fell in love. The only
problem was that they were on different sides of the war that was going
on. The princess never told the prince what side she was on and so he
assumed they were on the same side. Eventually he proposed to her. She
said no of course explaining that she did love him, but he was on the
enemy side. The prince, furious at the girl for not telling him earlier
swore that he would never talk to her again. The girl begged him 
to forgive her, saying that the war was almost over and then they could
be together. But the prince, being stubborn refused, and would not speak
to her. The princess never forgave herself after that either. She became
a bitter person who never loved again. As for the prince, he was to
stubborn to forgive the girl, and suffered without a love. Later on in
life, as he grew older he realized what a mistake he had made. He went to
visit the girl to beg her forgiveness. But when he arrived, he discovered
that the princess had died only moments earlier from a strange disease. 
The prince was heartbroken that he had nto forgiven her sooner. He never
forgot her, and was never able to fall in love again." Serenity finished
the story. "So you see, the prince never forgave the princess and when he
decided to it was too late." She said quietly. 

"Look," Rei said slowly. "I know that you are doing this to show me that
I should forgive Jed before it is too late." 

"That is not it." Serenity said. "I am telling you this story to show you
that people make mistakes. It is only human. But everyone, deserves a
second chance. Especially in love. It is only human though to make
mistakes, but we must learn from them. If you let your fears and
stubborness overcome you and control you for the rest of your life, you
will regret it later on when it has become too late. I am not asking you
to decide right now to forgive him. I am just asking you to think 
about it." 

"Say, that I was to forgive him." Rei started. 

"Is it really fair of me, after all that I have put him through to just
say that I forgive him?" 

"If he truly loves you, then he will not mind. If anything this has
strenghthened his love for you. If he will not let you forgive him, you
two were never truly meant to be. But if he loves he you, he will forget
all about it. Because remember, true love conquers all doesn't it?"
Before Rei could answer she was gone.

or the day after. I am going on vacation on Saturday and this fanfic is
going to be before then! And the sequel is already written and typed.

 Courage Under Fire Part 5~ The Forgiveness By MCRK  

Chapter Thirteen 

Rei walked outside and sat down on the steps to think. As soon as she sat
down her two pet crows, Phobos, and Diemos, flew towards her and perched
on her arm. 

"So are they pets o are birds just attracted to you?" Jed asked as he sat
down on the steps. 

"I guess you could call them pets. They are always here, and they are
kind of my protectors." Rei explained. 

"Do they have names?" Jed asked. 

"This one is Phobos, and that one is Diemos." 

"The moons of Mars." Jed said. Rei looked up at him surprised. 

"How did you know that?" she asked.

"I know a lot about the planets, especially Mars." He said, his eyes
locking on hers. 

"You know, the weird part is, I named them that before I became Sailor
Mars." 

"Kinda like a psychic thing huh?" Jed said. 

"Yeah that happens to me a lot." Rei said, never taking her eyes away. It
would be a long time before she would admit it, but at that moment Rei
fell in love with Jed all over again. 

"Is that from your priestess training or is it just one of the many
talents you posses?" Jed teased. Rei realized that she was flirting with
him. 

Oh no.' she thought. 'I have to stop this. It is too late already.' 

Jed noticed the change in Rei's eyes. They went from calm to hysteria in
seconds. "Is everything ok?" Jed asked. 

Rei stood up looking confused. "I have to go…" She was interupted when
Jed unexpectandly stood up and kissed her. After it ended, about two
seconds later, Rei stumbled backwards shocked at what had just happened.
"I, uh, have to go answer the phone." She ran off. 'Damn it!' Jed thought
as he slid back down onto the steps. 'What the hell was I thinking?! She
is never going to forgive me now. That's it.' Jed decided. 'I have to get
out of here. It is bad enough having to been on the scouts team with her,
but to be staying here? What was I thinking?' A mall voice inside his
head answered him. *You were in love.* 'Yeah well she sure oesn't feel
the same way, no matter what she said. I can't even control my freaking
emotions. If I stay here I am going to go insane not being able to kiss
her. I have to leave.' He went inside to pack his bags. 

'What is wrong with me?' Rei thought. 'I have this great guy who is
totally in love with me, and would give his life for me, technically he
already has, and I run away. I mean it's not like I don't like him. I
love him just as much, but when he kisses me, I freak. Why the hell does
this have to be so hard!' She slammer her fist against the wall. 'Why
can't I just have a normal boyfriend? Why does this have to be so
complicated?" *You are making it that way.* She told herself. 'Yeah I
guess I am. But now that I am ready to forgive him, is it too late, like
in the story? After all that I have put him through is it really fair of
me to just tell him I forgive him? I need to get some fresh air.' Rei
walked out of her room and went down the hallway. 

As she passed Jed's room she suddenly stopped short and stared at the
sight inside his room. His door was wide open and there was a suitcase on
the bed, which Jed was filling! 

"You're going?" Rei asked. Jed looked up to see her staring at him in
bewilderment. 

"Uh, yeah I figured I have bothered you enough, and obviously we can't
get along, so I am going to leave." 

"But where are you going to go? No one else has room, and you can't go
live on the streets." 

"Like you really care where I am going?" Jed said. 

Rei stared at him hurt, that he would say that. "I guess I totally
deserve that huh?" Rei said. "But I am concerned. Where are you going to
stay?" 

Jed sighed and looked up. "If you really want to know I plan on staying
at a motel somewhere so if you will please excuse me I have packing to
do." 

"A motel?" Rei said. "That is crazy. What happens if the scouts need you?
It would take to long for you to get here." 

"I can transport remember?" Jed asked. 

"Oh yeah. But still, don't go…" 

"Why not?" Jed asked. "There is nothing here other then the scouts and I
will still be able to help fight." 'Please say it.' He thought. 'Please
say that you want me to stay.' She thought back to what princess Serenity
had said. She gathered up her courage, put aside her fears and spoke,
"Well, here, it is free to stay, you are welcome as long as you like, and
uh…if you went, I would miss you." Rei said softly. 

Jed turned around to look at her. "You, would miss me?" He asked. She
nodded her head. "How would that work?" He asked. "Earlier on the steps
was the first time we have had some kind of conversation without arguing.
What are you going to miss?" 

"I know we got off to a a bad start." Rei said. "And that was my fault.
But if you leave, we will never be able to fix it." 

"You of all people should understand why I am leaving. I can't stay here
anymore.It's too hard. I kissed you because spending all this time with
you, and not being able to do anything is driving me insane. I am not
saying that I am giving up on us. I will never do that. I would and if
necessary wait forever for you. I love you, but enough to know that you
have to decide what you want. If I stay here it will affect your
decision. You would end up falling in love with me, but I would end up
not being right for you. That is not fair to either of us. So I am going
to leave. You need to see what you really want to do, go out with other
guys. Like that Chad guy." Jed suggested. 

Rei rolled her eyes. "Maybe if he got a haircut…" She started. "Besides,
I don't love Chad, I don't want to be with him. I love…" 

Rei was cut of by Jed, "Don't say that." 

"Why not? Isn't that what you have wanted all along? For me to forgive
you and love you again?" 

"Yes." He said. 

"But I don't want you to say it because you think it will make me stay
here. If you are ever able to forgive me, and fall in love with me again,
I want you to say that, but to mean it with all your heart." 

"How can you know whether or not I mean it right now?" Rei questioned. 

"You were influenced by the kiss, which never should have happened. Tell
me this. If I had not kissed you, and we had not talked, would you still
have been as upset that I was leaving?" Rei was silent. "Now do you see
why I have to go?" Jed asked. 

"Fine." Rei said. "If you want to leave, who I am I to stop you? You
obviously don't believe anything I say so you might as well leave. But I
know that this is goodbye. If you leave now, we both know that you are
not coming back, regardless  of what you may say." Now it was Jed's turn
to be silent. "But before you go, I have to ask you a question." She
quietly started to sing. At first Jed was mesmerized by her voice, but
when he listened to the words, it was all he could do to not laugh 
out loud and the irony of the situation. "How's it going to be, when you
don't know me, anymore? And how's it going be. Wanna get myself back in
again." She cut it off there and quietly walked out of his room closing
the door behind her. Jed smiled trying to hold back a laugh.'That was
low.' He thought. 'Exactly something I would do!' He laughed out loud as
he put the suitcase down on the bed in defeat. 

Chapter Fourteen 

The girls were all meeting at the temple to discuss the upcoming dance at
school. "So is everyone going?" Mina asked. Yes, they all replied. "So
Serena what about the guys? Who's coming?" Mina asked. 

"Uh Darien said he convinced Ken, Greg, Andrew, to come, and uh...."
Before she finished she looked Rei who said nothing.  "He also asked Jed.
Do you mind Rei?" 

Rei flinched slightly before answering, "Of course not why would I mind
if one of your friends wants to come with us to the dance? It doesn't
bother me in the slightest." Her face however told them otherwise.
"Um...I'll be right back I'm going to get some food ok everyone?" Rei got
up and left the room. 

As soon as she was out of earshot, the girls all started whispering. "She
is definitely still in love with him!" Mina exclaimed. 

"I know, we have to find a way to get them together," replied Lita. "We
owe them at least that much." 

"We should try to get them together at the dance," Serena suggested. 

"Uh guys..." said Ami who had been silent this whole time, "don't you
think we should let them get together on their own?" 

"Ami are you crazy!" asked Mina. 

"Yeah if we do that they will never get together!" whined Serena. 

"Well what if they are not suppossed to end up together? What if they are
both predestined to be with someone else?" Ami asked thoughtfully. 

"What if they are?" Mina asked. "If we go about like they aren't, and
they really are, it would screw up their lives forever. They are not
going to get together with out a little help." She explained. 

Ami just sighed. 

"I've got an idea!" 

"What Lita tell us!" 

"Ok at the dance someone can go up to the DJ and ask him to play Angel." 
"Angel? What song is that?" asked Serena. 

"You know the one by Sarah something or other. It starts out like, spend
all your time waiting for that second chance..." 

"Ohhh that one! That is perfect!" Serena squealed. 

"I know that" said Lita exasperated, "That is why I said to do that
song!!”

“Anyway tell us the rest of your plan" Mina said. "Well you know how at
our dances, when you dedicat a song to someone, they have to dance, and
the spotlight shines on them for a few minutes? Well if we dedicate
"Angel" to Rei and Jed, they will have to dance, and then they can talk.
You can not dance with someone without talking to them." 

"Wow!" Mina exclaimed, "That is a wonderful plan!" 

"Yeah good thinking Lita," replied Serena. 

They all looked toward Ami. She raised her head from the book she was
reading and saw three expectant faces. "Well I still think you should let
Rei decide what she wants, but I won't stop you." 

"Yes, Ami you are the best! Besides what are friends for if we can't make
decisions for them?" Serena questioned. 

Just as Serena finished talking, the door opened and Rei walked in
carrying a huge tray of food. "Here is some food for you..." She was cut
off as Serena literally jumped on her to get to the food. "Oops, I guess
I am a little hungry!" 

Chapter Fifteen 

The group of friends sat around the table laughing and having a good time
just talking and listening to music. Suddenly the fast dance song that
had been playing stopped and the DJ started to speak. "This next song, is
dedicated to Rei and Jed. Would they please come up here and lead off the
dance? The song is Angel by Sarah McLaughlin." 

Rei turned to look at her friends who were all smiling innocently. Rei
glared at them and if looks could kill Ami, Mina, Lita, and Serena would
have been dead on the spot. "Uh…Rei I think we are supposed to go dance."
Jed said. Rei stopped glaring and got up to dance. The two dance under
the spotlight silently for a few minutes. Once the spotlight was shut
off. Jed started to speak. "I take it the other scouts did this?" 

"Who else would have?" Rei asked. 

"I don't know. I thought maybe you would have."  Rei glared at him as he
realized he had said the wrong thing. "I guess they are really hooked on
getting us together huh?" 

"I guess so." Rei said glancing around the room. 

The two danced silently for a few minutes before Jed spoke again. "Can I
ask you a question?" After receiving permission he continued. "I am sure
that you know how much I care for you, and I am talking about you, Rei
Hino, not Princess Mars. And I know that you are angry over what I did in
the silver millenium, and now at least you know why I did that. I am
asking you this now, because I know you were trying to figure out what
you wanted to do. So my question is, do you forgive me? I know that you
are still scared, and I am afraid to, but we could get over that 
together. I know what my life is like without you and it is not something
I want to experience over again." 

Rei took a deep breath and started to speak. "I understand that back in
the Silver Millenium you were under Beryl's power. And I now understand
that you did it for me. But that still doesn't make the things you did go
away. Whether you were aware that you were doing it or not. I mean can
you imagine how it feels to have the person you love suddenly start
trying to kill you? I will admit though that I blamed myself and took
that anger out on you." 

"What were you blaming yourself for?" Jed asked. "I thought that maybe if
I had told you that I loved you sooner it would have made you stay. I
kinda blamed myself for you choosing to fight on their side. That was the
only reason I could think of as why you would choose to fight for them.
So I vowed never to forgive myself, and if I couldn't forgive myself I
couldn't forgive you either." Rei looked down completely ashamed. 

"How could you ever think that?" Jed asked. "Even if you did not love me,
you were still my best friend and I would never desert you." 

"But it still was my fault. You sided with her because of me." Rei said. 

"True." Jed said slowly. "But it wasn't something you did. It was to save
you. Look the only way that I would not have gone to their side was if I
never knew you and being evil for a million years would be worth it to
have known you. Actually, since Beryl wanted me to fight she was going to
find a way to get to me whether I knew you or not. So it is not at all
your fault ok? I mean you can't help it that I was just so damn popular." 

Rei smiled. "Hey you never answered my question." Jed said. "After you
switched sides, I made a vow never to forgive you, or myself really. And
I planned on keeping that vow, all up until a few days ago. When an old
friend stopped by. She told me a story, and said that everyone deserves a
second chance, especially in love. She also told me that people make
mistakes, but that they deserve to have a chance to redeem themselves as
a good person. And yes, I am still scared, but I don't want my life, 
and my one chance at love to be ruined because I am afraid. Being scared
has never stopped me before so why should it now?" 

"Wait, I still don't get it. Are you forgiving me or not?" Jed asked. 

Rei laughed, "Yes, I am forgiving you." 

Jed let out his breath in a huge sigh of relief. "Do you know how long I
have waited to hear that?" he asked. 

"I can kinda guess." Rei replied. "Hey," she suddenly said. "Listen to
the song." By this time "Angel" was long over and another song was half
way through. 

Late at night when all the world is sleeping 
I stay up and think of you 
And I still can't believe that 
You came up to me and said 
I love you 
I love you too 
I'll be dreaming with you tonight 
'Til tomorrow and for all of my life 
And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be 
Than here in my room dreaming with you endlessly 

"So you did hear!" Jed exclaimed. 

"Yeah sorry about that. I didn't mean to spy on you or anything but the
other scouts wanted to talk to you, and you were talking out loud so you
know…" 

"I was so worried that if you heard, you would get all pissed off at me." 

"Well I would have, but it made me realize that some how you already know
that you love me in this lifetime." Rei said. 

"Well I feel a lot more relieved," Jed said. "I don't have to worry about
you hating me anymore." 

"Yeah." Rei said quietly. 

"What's the matter? Is something wrong?" Jed asked. 

"What? Oh no I was just thinking." 

"About what?" 

"I was just thinking how weird it is that one of us is always stopping
the other from saying I love you." Rei said. 

"Yeah. Maybe because the one being stopped never really meant it." 

"Maybe." Rei said. "Well what about now?" 

"What about it?" Jed asked. "If I were to say right now that I love you,
would you let me?" "Would you be meaning it?" 

"Yes." Rei said truthfully. 

"I guess then I can't stop you right?" 

"Good." She said. She reached up and kissed him with all the love she had
been holding in for the last few thousand years. "I love you. I always
have. It just took my brain a little longer to figure it out." 

"I love you too." Jed said. 

"And I am sorry for everything that you had to go through." Rei said.

"What did I have to go through besides thing that I chose to do. I kept
trying to win you back because I love you. That is why I stayed at the
temple." 

"Wait," Rei said. 'If you loved me so much, how come you told me to go
out with other guys?" 

"I only said that because I didn't think you really did love me. After
you got so mad, I figured there was no way you could love me anymore. So
if you were happier being with someone else, then that would have made me
happy." 

"Jed, that is probably the nicest thing you have ever said to me." Rei
said getting all teary eyed. 

"Oh man, don't cry again! Every time you cry, I end up getting yelled
at." 

Rei laughed. "Well before you came back, I never used to cry. It's all
your fault!" 

"But it's worth a few tears isn't it?" 

"Of course." 

"By the way, I never proved that I do love you did I?" Jed asked. 

"What are you talking about?" Rei asked.

"After everthing that you went through for me, you don't think I know you
love me?" 

"Oh that doesn't matter. I have to prove it now." Jed said slyly. 

"Fine," Rei said smiling. "One kiss. But then I have to go tell Serena
something ok?" 

"Don't you think you should wait till after the dance to share all the
details?" Jed 
asked her.

"That is not what I have to tell her!" Rei protested. 

"Sure, sure. But hey if I get a kiss out of it…" Jed said. And with that
he leaned down and kissed her with such passion that Rei felt her knees
go weak. 

"Wow," she said when it had ended. 

"See, you should have forgiven me a long time ago!" Jed said teasingly.
"Go talk to Serena, I am going to go outside for a minute ok?" Rei nodded
her head and went off to find Serena. 



Eventually she found all the scouts getting food. She took them out into
the hallway for a minute. "I want to thank you guys for doing the song
and everything." Rei said. "I know I have been acting like a bitch since
Jed came back and I'm sorry you guys had to go through that." 

"Hey it was no big deal." Lita said. 

"So did you forgive him?" Ami asked. Rei nodded. 

'So did he kiss you yet?" Mina asked smiling, her eyes sparkling. 

Rei laughed. "Yeah, i will tell you all the details after the dance ok?"
Satisfied with her answer they started to walk back inside. "Serena could
I talk to you for a minute?" Rei asked.

"uh, sure." The other scouts went back in and left the two alone. "I have
to thank you also." Rei said.

"What for?" Serena asked. "It wasn't even my idea to request the song." 

Rei shook her head and sighed. She reached over and hugged Serena.
Puzzled Serena hugged her back, unitl she heard Rei's voice whisper in
her ear. "Thank You Princess Serenity." Serena smiled and hugged Rei
harder knowing everything was going to work out.

Ok I know the very end sucked and I apologize for that. I was not sure
how to end it. Well what did you think? The fanfic is finally over!!! You
do not know what it is like getting this damn thing out. But i had tons
of fun writing it and I hope you have enjoyed reading it. If you did,
